He works with you on the details, making sure that when you do get a "low" score on the practice MEEs, you understand exactly why. Mr. Ferber is the smartest money you'll ever spend on trying to pass the bar. Effectiveness: I passed the July 2021 bar on my first attempt and the Cal Bar had a 53% pass rate! I was a mediocre student who went part-time through Law School while working full-time. I have ADHD to boot--and received extra time in Law School, but was denied it by the bar. And I'm 53 yrs old so thinking is hard..... Money: From an economic standpoint, the value obtained is in Mr. Ferber's ability to find what YOU don't know but need to know to pass the bar. Mr. Ferber has a way of making you aware of that inner demon and helps you either defeat it or at least cage it long enough to "do whatcha gotta do" (pass the damn test). This benefit is both a sincere belief Mr. Ferber has that you are better than you think you are, and finding a way to prove it to your own skeptical self. Thanks to Adam, i passed the CA 2020 Feb exam which was an all time low pass rate. Before working with Adam, I understood substantive law, knew how to do IRACs like any law students, did thousands of MBE questions, hundreds of essays and PTs, experienced enough exams. Then I was stuck as to why i did not pass. Adam answered and helped me solve the problem. I am a foreign trained attorney coming from a country with a different legal system compared to the US. I passed the February 2019 CA Bar Exam with Adam's help after three attempts. When I first called Adam, I was searching for guidance that would give me the edge I needed to pass. I had used BARBRI twice, once with a few hours of BARBRI tutoring, and I had also tried only using Adaptibar and self-study. I took a year off before I sought Adam's help. I passed the California Bar on my first try and I know it wouldn't have been possible without Adam's help. In my opinion he is worth every penny for three reasons. Firstly, he has decades of experience grading actual bar exams. Being able to get your practice essays graded by a real bar grader gives helpful insight that the Big Bar Prep companies cannot do. Secondly, he provides a lot of techniques that my Big Bar Prep company did not provide me that I believed was the difference when it came to the actual exam. I took the Uniform New York Bar Exam in February 2023 and last Friday, April 21 2023, I got my letter saying that I had passed with a great score. I am in the 9th cloud! This was my third attempt, the first attempt I just used Barmax and some tutoring from them and the second I found other tutor that just disappeared. This time was literally my last attempt because I couldn't afford to keep investing more resources in passing the Bar. A professor told me about Adam and my husband decided to get a loan to be able of paying Adam's services and believe me, it worth every single penny. It wasn't just that I passed, I excelled. I passed the bar exam on my third try with Adam. The first two times I used Themis, studied the outlines and thought I had passed. My essays came back consistently 55s and 60s, so I knew I had to improve my writing. Adam helped me with the essay examination portion of the exam. I'd be happy to answer more questions by messaging me here as well*** I would like to preface this by saying that my rating for Adam Ferber's tutoring services would have been 5/5 even before finding out my results this past Friday (pass). First of all, the MBE is very much doable with self-discipline and practice. When it came to essays, I realized I lacked a lot more. And more troublingly, it was not improving with practice. What I needed was an expert's guidance, and I found that with Adam. Other test prep companies emphasized quantity over quality; Adam did the opposite, and this was imperative to my passing. Looking at old "model" essays was just not cutting it. I needed to see it through the bar grader's eyes, and it became more focused with Adam's tutelage. Who wants to align their practice efforts with mere "passing" when you can have Adam pushing you toward 100? We could use every leverage we can get during bar prep, and he was truly the master of that. 2 main reasons I signed up with Adam was that he was going to make me sit down and re-write my essays after the first run-through. This. Is. Key. You cannot expect a different outcome by repeating what you did before. And without the re-writes, I was doing just that - repeating old mistakes. When Adam handed back my first write-up, it was accompanied by lengthy (often 2-3 pages) comments. This forced me to internalize what I had NOT done right. My second write-up would reflect this, and he would then give me a new score. It truly made all the difference. Second reason is that Adam gave me the flexibility to work with him for the first four weeks, and then extend our contract if I felt that things were clicking for me. Bar prep is a tremendous financial burden for most of us, and it was a huge comfort knowing that Adam understood this. And on a personal note, I want to echo everything people here have said about Adam's gift as a mentor. Even over the phone (I worked from Santa Cruz), he has a tremendous presence. I passed the February, 2016 Bar exam on my second try after failing in July, 2015. A friend recommended him; she passed on her second attempt after tutoring with Adam, so I'm paying that fortuitous recommendation forward here. Before settling on Adam, I considered six other tutors and spoke at length with four, including Adam. I chose Adam because after talking, he suggested an approach that seemed rigorous yet practical and doable, and customized to help me capitalize on my strengths and identify and correct the weaknesses. Adam was clear from the beginning about our study plan. Whomever you choose for this, you must be willing to prepare for the work, do the work, and do the follow up. Many tutors seem to flood you with many writing tasks. Adam focused on those writing tasks and subjects that were most critical and worked with me to hone my skills. Where there was room for improvement on an essay, and until the end there always was, Adam gave solid advice for improvement and then further review of the rewrite. Not all tutors work this way, and the rewriting was for me a critical part of the process. Adam also provided a detailed rubric for self-review that helped me self-assess my answers to other practice essays, and he had endless helpful strategic advice. His detailed responses to my written work allowed me to systematically correct the problems. His help on Performance Tests gave me an approach to them that was useful and helped me find the best approach and avoid time trouble whatever the question. Additionally, he was never far from his email or his phone, and he encouraged me to call him to ask questions, check in, or otherwise as needed, which I did. From the moment I had my first phone call with Adam, I knew I wanted to hire him to prepare me for the July 2021 CA Bar Exam. He is calm, methodical, and by far the best tutor I have ever worked with over my academic career. I worked with Adam this past winter and just learned that I passed the Feb 2018 CA Bar Exam!!!! I had taken the test several times before unsuccessfully and after taking more than 5 years off from bar study, I decided to give it one last shot. Instead of doing Barbri like I had in the past (which I could never keep up with btw), this time around, I relied solely on Adam to guide me, and I truly believe that Adam's help was the reason why I was finally able to pass this horrible exam. I got Adam's contact from a friend of mine who had previously worked with him. After getting crushed on my first attempt at the CA bar, I called Adam up on the phone and we talked for about 10 minutes about how I scored and his recommended approach for the next exam. Adam's advice was spot on, and took into consideration not just the breakdown of my first score, but my study habits, personality, and overall test-taking approach. I should note that during my first attempt, I had worked with a private tutor in San Francisco, which consisted of writing practice essay and PT exams and then reviewing them with that tutor. Using Adam's advice from our brief call, the score for my 2nd exam shot up (over 100 points), making it to a 2nd reading, but still 50pts. short. Because I knew my improvement was largely based on following the study approach Adam had crafted for me during a 10 minute call, I decided I would take the CA exam again (for a 3rd consecutive time-- July '14), so long as I could first get Adam to agree to personally tutor me. Luckily, he agreed. In addition to initially meeting and mapping out a 2-month game plan for my study schedule, we would meet every 2 weeks to review essays I had submitted, and have an open discussion on any topic I wanted, whether it be a substantive area of law or how to improve my issues with time-management on PTs. The sessions with Adam not only sharpened by approach to the exam, but really boosted my confidence going into that 3rd test. Adam makes an effort to make sure you're in a good state of mind heading into the test... something that my previous tutor didn't. Part of my heightened confidence was also in knowing that Adam is not only a longtime law professor, but a former bar grader and member of the bar exam appeals board (among other positions within the CA state bar, I believe). In short, he knows what he's doing when it comes to essays, PTs, and an overall study approach. My previous tutor in SF (who I stubbornly used again during my 2nd attempt) was never a bar grader.
