I had a simple tutorial request. A tutor to teach basic Microsoft & how to use a smart phone to an adult living in the Bay Area. Shame ...I was unable to find anyone in the technology capital of America. One Supposedly SAT tutor actually said he was unfamiliar with technology and does not own a smart phone. Beware Thumbtack is not verifying the people on their website . Be careful... read more

It's not easy to find a tutor in SF. I wanted to find a tutor who is not only smart but can also explain concepts in ways that are easy to understand. At Tutor Me SF, the tutors graduated from top tier universities like Stanford and Harvard and have track records with their students. This was especially important for me when I was looking for an SAT tutor for my niece who needed to raise her scores. Tutor Me SF recommended a tutor who scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT and really knew the tips and tricks to doing well on the math and English portions. After working with Tutor Me SF, my niece improved her SAT scores and she felt more confident going into the exam. Since then, I have recommended Tutor Me SF to multiple friends for Math tutoring, English tutoring, and even ISEE tutoring! 5/5! read more

With schools in limbo and everything online, we have no idea what to expect. We were not going to let that effect the kids in our family so we diligently were looking for a supplement with online tutoring. I came across Tutor Me SF online and saw that they offered both in-person and online tutoring. At this time, we were only interested in working with a tutor online due to COVID. I spoke to the company and they were so knowledgeable and familiar with helping students and creating a plan for the kids during COVID so they do not fall behind. The company set us up with a credentialed tutor who has been tutoring the kids everyday for 5 hours a day and it has been working fantastic. This way they are not falling behind (Our biggest fear) and the tutor seems to keep the math and english session engaging which is so important. No kid wants to feel like they are going to school and I think they did a really good job at doing that. For Math tutoring, the tutor assigns homework and does weekly assessments. We feel like this is the most effective educational experience we have purchased and are so thankful for their service. With everything so crazy right now with COVID, this is the way to go. read more

Tutor Me SF is awesome! I am a pre-med student and needed help with organic chemistry and calculus. Both tutors (Mena Shaikh and Ken Wachowski) have been a 10/10. I had exorbitantly long sessions with Ken W. who stayed positive the entire time and had the most organized lesson plans I have ever seen. He had my textbook on hand, and would prepare practice problems and lecture slides ahead of time. I was really impressed by his tutoring style as well as his attitude and dedication to my success. Elliot, my tutoring coordinator, is on top of it and has made sure everything meets my expectations. He has been super friendly and communicative as well. Overall, a true 5 stars for this company and my tutors! read more

I contacted this firm due to the amazing reviews below, with expectations that what I'm paying will be worth my money. But the latest review is 6 months old, and I'm not sure the company is keeping up their standards because my experience with them has been horrible so far. I paid $100 for an hour of tutoring with a tutor for AP Biology. The tutor seemed unfamiliar with AP Bio and asked me to explain what the concepts are on the AP exam. Shouldn't this be the opposite? I'm the student here. They also read the textbook for around 10 minutes to "refresh their memory" before they could teach me, because they weren't familiar with molecular biology. Is this really the standard for $100/hour tutoring? I hope this review helps anyone hoping to use this firms service in the future. Maybe it's just a one-off situation, but it is my experience with this company. I suggest other firms in the bay area or to find tutors directly, as you can find a better tutor for your money that way. Also, potential tutors should note, students are paying $90 for 12 hours with the company, or $100 for an hourly basis. It is difficult to get the quotes as you need to call them and provide them with personal information first. read more

I was very impressed with Tutor Me SF.  Needed to hire a tutor for a friend for the SAT. The process was very simple and the staff was extremely helpful.  There is not that many SAT tutors available in the city let alone one that will come out to Palo Alto. Tutor Me SF set us up with an expert SAT tutor who used to work for Kaplan and was very familiar with the exam. My friend went on to hire a GRE tutor as well for his sister which scored extremely well on the exam and was also very happy with her experience. Tutor Me SF is a solid tutoring service and seems to have the best prices of other places I called around. Ask for steven for the SAT if he is available! You wont be disappointed read more

When looking for a tutor in the Bay Area, I had trouble finding someone that could match my study style and speed. It was difficult for me to find someone that could help engage me in the subject whilst still challenging my abilities and push me to do and be better as a student. I researched multiple private tutors and found myself unsatisfied with the results. The TutorMeSF tutors possess the perfect balance of expertise and enjoyment for the subjects they teach. All of their tutors are graduates of amazing schools like Stanford, which makes it easy to idolize and mimic their study skills. My tutor had a masters degree in biological science, and the skills and tricks he used to teach me were unmatched. If you're looking for a tutor in the Bay Area, look no further. This is the second time I have hired a tutor from Tutor Me SF and I am nothing but thankful for the help of their staff and of my tutor. Finding a reliable tutor in San Francisco or even in the bay area can take a lot of time. I tried so many other companies before finding one that was truly the best fit. Tutor Me SF set me up with a graduate tutor who not only specialized in Math but even took the same professor in the past! (THIS WAS AMAZING).  The tutor came to my home in San Francisco and they even sent another tutor on the weekends because I also live part time in San Jose. The tutor not only broke down the basics and gave me dozens of practice questions but really had a desire to see me do well. That is a quality that you rarely find in people. Thank you so much Ethan! Tutor Me SF also sends me notes that the tutor writes after each session to remind me of what was covered and what I need to work on. The staff is amazing and the tutors are outstanding. I used the services of Tutor Me SF because I wanted to pass the CBEST (the test to work as a substitute teacher) and they sent me Ryan. Ryan is an angel! I cannot find the words to say how grateful I am for his help! Growing up, I always had tremendous difficulties understanding maths. I was having such difficulties with maths that a teacher told me (I was about 10) she thought I was slightly retarded. Later, when I was a teenager and passed a test with the career counsellor, he saw my challenges in maths and told me not to bother to go to college because he told me "you are not intelligent enough to go to college" (this is not a joke). So I grew up basically being told I was an idiot, I was stupid, I would never amount to anything because of my difficulties with maths. (By the way, I have a bachelor's degree in translation and speak French, English and Spanish fluently as well as a few other languages but not yet fluently. Not bad for and idiot and a retarded!) When I started working with Ryan, I admit I was scared and worried to say the least and all those painful memories from my childhood surfaced. Ryan had the patience of an angel and was able to find ways to not only explain maths concepts I was unable to understand in my childhood but to get me to enjoy maths!!! I never thought that was possible! And guess what else? Thanks to Ryan's help, I passed the CBEST with flying colours!!! That is nothing short of a miracle and I owe it to Ryan and Tutor Me SF who sent me Ryan. That is why I wholeheartedly recommend Tutor Me SF to anybody who faces even the biggest challenges with understanding maths! If I can pass the CBEST with the math challenges I had, ANYBODY can DRAMATICALLY improve their skills in maths, period! Nobody paid me to write this review. I am so deeply touched by the miracle I experienced I just genuinely wanted to let other people know about Tutor Me SF. read more

I came across Tutor Me SF on yelp and read the great reviews but was still a bit skeptical. However, the rep at Tutor Me SF said that my tutor was guaranteed so I decided to give it a try and I am EXTREMELY happy I did. The tutor I received was so good and he was able to to tutor me in San Francisco at my office and at my home in Palo Alto. The tutor was very professional and had a masters from Stanford which was super impressive. However his teaching spoke for itself. Everything just clicked the way he described concepts. He tutored me in math and chemistry and I ended up scoring much higher than I expected with the limited time we had together. I am now meeting with him 3 times a week from the beginning Ingrid of the quarter and so far I have gotten an A and A- on my biology and calculus exams. Tutor Me SF is the best tutoring company in San Francisco and the Bay Area hands down. read more
