We chose the one-on-one online tutoring, and Eli has been incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and professional throughout every lesson. Eli explains difficult SAT concepts in a clear and easy-to-understand way, while also helping build confidence and effective test-taking strategies. The lessons are well organized and personalized based on my child's strengths and areas for improvement. My child is preparing for the August SAT this year, and we've already seen noticeable progress. I truly appreciate Eli's dedication, teaching experience, and encouraging attitude. If you're looking for high-quality SAT tutoring, I highly recommend Collegible and Eli.

Eli does an excellent job preparing students to feel confident when taking the HSPT. What's especially appreciated is his constant feedback and his ability to break down problems step by step, while still encouraging students to think through solutions on their own and collaboratively. Students feel supported throughout the process rather than left to figure things out on their own.

Kids are under so much pressure these days compared to when I was in school. Granted that was a…read morelong time ago but it is true. My daughter is in the sixth grade and pretty much a straight A student, except for math. She began slipping behind this past semester and was getting a C in math. This stressed her out far more than me however I convinced her and myself that we could tackle this together. That was until I learned the hard way that this common core BS it literally the most confusing math I have ever encountered. We gave it a week of me trying to teach myself and then her. And then another week of me getting absolutely frustrated. And then by the end of the second week I threw in the towel and started searching for tutors. Initially I was set on getting her a private tutor like I had done for my son 8 years prior. To my surprise and horror? Private tutors were running upward of $140 for an hour of in home tutoring. Ok. They make more than I do. I then decided that was insane and I switched gears settling on Sylvan at West Portal. The start up was pain free, she had her assessment and then headed full steam ahead with the small group math tutoring 2 days per week. There was only 2 months of school left, she had a C- in math going into it and finished the semester with a solid B. The best part of all was the confidence boost she got along with that B. The staff at Sylvan were friendly, easy to communicate with and never tried to push packages on us that we didn't need. Her assessment was so helpful in that it picked up area's where she needed help that she didn't know she even needed help in. The prices were very competitive and although I was hoping to get her the 1:1 tutoring I was limited by the cost and reassured that she would likely do just as well with the small groups. They were correct. There was not a single tutor that Lily did not click with. They were all patient and kind providing updates along the way with her progress. It was all around a great experience and she will definitely return for the math homework group in the Fall. I would recommend Sylvan to anyone who's child is falling behind in a subject and needs a boost. The money spent was well worth it and my girl went into the summer feeling great about herself and her grades.

The impact Scott had on my son went well beyond college essay preparation/production. Pre-Scott, my son could barely write a coherent sentence and through the magic of Scott's teaching methodology and in a relatively short timeframe, the improvement was dramatic. The counsel, candid discussions, and direction Scott provided paid huge dividends in the classroom and in daily written communication (emails, texts). My son became a more confident writer and student which of course, carried over to everyday life. As he heads-off to college in the fall (UCLA), I'm forever grateful to Scott for the life-changing role he played in preparing my son for the next chapter and beyond.

My daughter really struggles with deadlines and time management and Scott was really patient and gave a lot of good advice and guidance. In the end she was admitted to her top choice. We were very happy to work with Scott and would be happy to work with him again in the future.

First and foremost, Learn iT! is located in a convenient part of the city (33 New Montgomery…read moreStreet) and has a great view out of many of the classroom windows. Their team is very helpful and I find my training experiences well organized with great content. They also offer WiFi, which is nice. I really enjoy going to training here. The first training I took at Learn iT! was Critical Thinking with Sheila. She was animated and kept my attention throughout the day, which can be hard to do! I appreciated the application/activities during the training, along with getting to know some of the other students attending (this was a public course). I'm happy they provide a workbook for each of the Professional Development classes, as I use them for taking notes and reference them often after the trainings. I take time to process information, so this is a great takeaway for me. Tip: they serve warm cookies at 2 PM each day and offer complimentary coffee and tea (this is available throughout the day). The cookies smell amazing in and it is a nice treat.

For some reason my company really likes to hire Learn It to teach us PC basics (Acrobat, MS Office…read moreSuite etc.). Yeah, they're pretty cheap compared to Academy X & Roundpeg but cheap doesn't equal good. I've taken their Acrobat, Excel and Word classes (I do work for a living but I like to take a couple of days out to veg out in front of a PC!). I've also attended an HTML (that was a joke) class. All Learn It classes feel like they are dumbed down, water downed versions of a dummies book. You get a paltry 2 page document as your training materials. I'm not the smartest PC applications person but I do like to learn more than remedial Word/Excel yada yada. I actually fell asleep against my monitor in the recent Word class! Very uninspiring classes. You get more bang for your buck by buying and reading a dummies book or one of those "software bible" books.
