Best place ever!!! We are obsessed. Dog friendly, they have water and treats. And they do beer and wine tastings on the weekends. Wine tasting is 4:30-730 on Fridays. Beer tasting is 3-6 on Saturdays. My husband is a beer snob and they always have such a great selection. They also have a monthly beer special for $10.99 for a six pack and it rotates every month to a different brewery. They also started carry high noons which I love. The only beer they don't have because they generally don't have generic brands is miller lite. But I think that's probably a good thing for them. read more

This is a quirky but exceedingly well-curated shop, especially for beer drinkers. I don't think it's possible to come in here for the beer and not find something you'll really like. The staff has always been pretty friendly and helpful with their service, and the environment is one where you can just browse and peruse to your heart's content without being bothered, if you so wish. Where I wish they did a little bit of a better job is that sometimes it can feel too cluttered. I guess that's the trade off for offering a broad selection but I do think a little less would be more. Parking outside is a little tight but it's nice they have offstreet parking I always found a spot. Also easy enough to walk to from anywhere in downtown Silver Spring. read more

Great shop when it comes to selection, no complaints there. Lots of locals, decent imports. Reasons for the low rating: - They are pricey. Examples: 4 pack of St. Bernardus is $32. That's $5 more than shops I have gone to in DC or total wine. Most 6 packs are at least $1-2 more than you can get elsewhere. I guess since it's the only decent beer store in Silver Spring, they charge more though. - The prices aren't always listed, and I have had it ring up at the register higher than the posted price multiple times now. They're friendly people, don't get me wrong, they'll correct it, but not ideal. - Product quality control is not ideal. I bought the Houblon Chouffe IPA, and noted when I got home the best by date was 8/2022. Aged Belgians are fine. Aged IPAs... not so much. read more

While they have a fairly good beer selection, there's no rhyme or reason on how it's displayed. For example typically you'll see stores divide their beer based on country or style. Here, the beer is just everywhere, so it's hard to find what you want. 3.) Parking. It does have a private lot which is good, but the spaces are too small for anything bigger than a small car. Since August 2020 Fenwick Beer & Wine is my go to for wines. I find its location very convenient, staff very friendly and helpful, and wine selection good. My wine go-tos are their Ricco semi-sweet moscato, namely peach and mango flavors. I have yet to try their craft beers but they seem to have many and often have specific brewery deals. I once for some reason was walking around and wanted to check this store out and tasted their wine pre-pandemic. I had my fiancé meet me there and she enjoyed it. We have been loyal customers since. They have a good beer selection from local, mostly Maryland craft breweries as well as some National and international selections. The wine selection is good as well and mainly specializes in international wines. They update their new selections regularly on Twitter. Most of my infrequent Twitter usage now is to see what they just got in. They also have a list of beer on their website they try and keep up to date. The store is small and quite packed full of wine and beer, yet very accessible for those with wheelchairs or other mobility devices (I surprisingly navigated it with a walker post cancer surgery). For social distancing purposes, they only want you in for a short amount of time and do not do tastings yet. I recommend you take a look on Twitter and their website to see what beer you want and ask the staff for help in getting the beer. read more

What a gem! Fantastic selection of wine and craft beers (and some standard brands). The owner really knows his stuff and is always a great person to ask for a recommendation for either beer or wine. They do a bakers dozen (buy 12 wines and the 13th free) and we just took advantage of 20% off all wines. They also do free tastings on Fridays from 4:30-730pm. We love this place!! If you are planning any competitive drinking games, do not come here. The beer here is meant to be savored and enjoyed. Although I'm not a big beer drinker, I can recognize a great surplus of quality beer. Fenwick Beer and Wine offers just that. First of all, the store is just adorable and is more reminiscent of cute little cottage. Inside, the store is pretty spacious and clean with a boasting array of imports, microbrews and craft beer. Browsing the store and checking out the unique collection inspired me to start exploring the world of beer a bit more. Additionally, the owner was very engaging and informative, letting us know about the beer tastings they host every Friday. Scha-wing! I was so impressed with the overall experience here, I even signed up for the list serve. I will definitely be returning to help expand my Belgian beer vocabulary! read more

The store itself has many options cramped into a little room. It was nice and quiet but the 'aisles' were so small, you had to be real careful trying to get through them. The prices were a little higher than most places that I've been to but I decided to go ahead and make a purchase anyway. The gentleman cashier was nice. However, it wasn't until after I got home that I noticed he added some extra fees on my receipt (that weren't part of the items, bag taxes or alcohol tax). It wasn't enough for me to want to go back to say anything but I'm sure it adds up over time if they do this to others as well. Not sure how I feel about it. You can always find something fun here at a fair price, and if you personally cannot find something, the staff will be happy to help you. The prices are not Total Wine but you are paying for a well-curated selection and available help in navigating it. Proximity to the Metro is a plus, and they have parking too. I don't drink beer, it doesn't like me, but my husband more than makes up for my lack of enthusiasm for it. Fenwick Beer and Wine is in a cute little building just outside the main hustle and bustle of downtown Silver Spring. We've passed it before and this time I suggested we stop and check it out. The selection of beers was impressive. My husband was well stocked up with his favorite winter brew but he's recently became interested in trying whiskey barrel brewed beers. We hadn't found much selection of them until we arrived at Fenwick. The man working there was extremely helpful in pointing out all of the varieties. I checked out the wine, but I'm a "one-step above boxed wine" type so I pretty much stayed in the beer section. We ended up with a fairly good size bottle of the whiskey barrel brew for husband to try. There is a refrigerator case along the wall with cold beer and wine. I didn't see any cases of Budweiser or anything of the sort. I could have missed them but I don't think so. I imagine we'll be back because of the amazing selection of beers, including some from local breweries. read more

I stopped by again today for their "official" grand opening celebration. I met the owner, Suman earlier this week and he informed me they'd be having a Belgian beer sampling event today (and a wine one too). The store (a converted house) is clean and spacious, just with rooms full of beer - imports and micro brews to warm your heart and cool you off after a long day at work. They have Chimay in a four pack and in the big bottles too! The beers they were sampling when I went were Belgian-style from a Quebec brewery called Unibroue. I ended up purchasing a four pack of Boddington pints for $7.99. That's a pretty good deal for MoCo, where they dictate the law of what can and cannot be purchased in their territory. Bullies! I'm a fan of everything here except the prices (caveat, their deal of the month on beer is quite excellent). They have an excellent beer selection and a decent (though overpriced) wine selection. Honestly, their beer selection, under one roof, is one of the best I've seen. They have all kinds of hard to find Belgian beers and other beer from around the US and around the world. They constantly rotate their stock of seasonal beers and have a number of mixed packs. The service is excellent; always courteous and helpful. They do a weekly tasting on Fridays... when I sometimes am convinced to purchase something. I just wish the prices were a bit more moderate... I've seen several bottles of wine here priced at 2x what they are at Costco; I mean, I understand that they can't compete with Costco on volume, but how can the same bottle cost twice as much here as at Costco? read more

I have been eyeing the soon-opening sign of Fenwick Beer and Wine for months now. Promising a boutique selection of Belgian beers and specialty small-winery wines, I could barely contain my excitement upon seeing that little "we are open" sign today. Entering the petite shop, the owner greeted me and gave a tour of their selection, numerously mentioning that this is just the first delivery batch (they've been open for only ~5 days now) and that more stock and variety is coming pronto. Already, I found my favorite bottle of cab and noticed the minor mark up, a plus, for I've seen it sold at much higher costs. Also, I happily acknowledged to myself their good taste in Belgians. Aside from being a girly-football throw distance from my house, I am ecstatic that FBW is open until 9 pm six days a week, which is uber late for these parts of Silver Spring, and amazingly 12-6 pm on Sunday, a rarity for a Maryland liquor store. I really hope that this little out-of-the-way beer & wine place will find a permanent home in the area. read more

Great spot in Silver Spring to grab GLUTEN FREE BEER! They have Greens (Amber and White), Red Bridge, New Grist....plus they might have the gluten free Great Divide. :) This store is inside a cozy little house at the corner of Fenwick and 2nd - a nice walk from the Silver Spring Metro Station. The owners, Suman and Gita, are warm and wonderful hosts - they've put together a great selection of wines (including organic and kosher) and beers and they're happy to make suggestions. I can only speak for the beer selection, but pretty much everything is overpriced. Most 6-packs are well-over $10 and most of the bombers are $8-10. The selection is ok but you can get better deals going to Whole Foods (in DC or VA), Rodman's, Chevy Chase Wine or pretty much anywhere with a good selection. Fenwick Beer and Wine had their grand opening this past weekend. This place is great! Its a few blocks from my house, which makes it ultra convenient, but it also also has a kick ass selection of beer! The Belgian selection is very good, a must visit place if you're looking to broaden your beer vocabulary. The US microbrew section is equally good, and they even have a few of the harder to find dogfish head beers. The wine selection is also pretty substantial, providing a fairly comprehensive selection, in a little wine nook they have set up. My only complaint is the lack of cold beer. But then again, that's nothing an hour in my freezer can't fix. read more

if i ever got to the point where i had erectile dysfunction, i wouldn't bother with that pansy, little blue pill - i'd head over to the nearest craft beer store i could find. why would i do that? you ask. the reason being is that while i was strolling around the downtown Sprung doing errands i passed by Fenwick Beer and Wine. i had never seen if before, so i decided to go in and take a look, and the moment i stepped foot inside the store - my dick got hard! walls and walls of Belgium, German, and even French beer. there is also a large selection of American craft beers. on the other side of the store had a wine selection from all over the world. who knew that they made wine in Georgia? (the country, not the state you moron!) there was a small selection of saki and plum wine. they even had some mead! i only wished i had the time to stick around for the beer tasting they were having latter on that day. the good thing is that Fenwick has a number of beer and wine tastings, which they list on their website and if you can't figure out how to find their website - there is a tasting just about every friday evening. oh, before i forget - there are no coolers in the store, so all items are bought at room temperature. this a store for planning ahead to do your drinking - not grabbing a 12 pack of PBR for your frat party. if you are that desperate for instant cold beer - then head over to Tick Tock liquors.... oopps. i forgot. then you're out of luck, pal. prices? well, as the mantra goes: life is too short to drink cheap beer. 'tis true. so if you want to enjoy a well made beer - you are going to have to pony up the bucks to do so. besides, their prices seem to be on par with most other beer & wine stores in the MoCo and DC region. maybe their is some phantom store in the area that sells a bottle of Chimay or Delirium Tremens for $6 bucks...... but i have yet to see such a store. last but not least - the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. they will answer any inane and stone cold, stupid question you can concoct with a smile. that's reason for star number five. read more

This is the go-to place for any type of specialty beer from across the country or around the world that you are looking for. Bonus for me? They had more gluten free beers than I've ever seen. I've only ever seen the standard Redbridge (so bad), Omission, Bard's..and then Tweasonale and Daura (both of which I love). But this place has soo much more! They have Green's (which along with Daura, Omission, and Daura made the top 12 GF beers-- link below)-- and a few other foreign beers and some I can't even remember. I would recommend this place for anyone. This place has a very small selection of beer but some good stuff. Unfortunately, the prices are very steep. I was expecting to pay a bit more given the area, and while many of their beers were $1-2 more, they were pretty reasonable overall. However, the prices for more rare/limited/seasonal offerings were painful. Just a few examples: $40 Brooklyn Black Ops -- I see this for $20-25 $35 Bruery Rueuze -- Never seen for more than $20 $18 21st Amendment Monk's Blood 4 pack -- $12 easily There was also a huge canned beer display at the front and I found a sixer of Dale's canned back in October (6 months ago) -- I'd hate to know how old the stuff at the bottom of the stack was. The store is tiny, but not too crowded and looked to be pretty well maintained. Whoever was working that day was very friendly and chatted with us so that was nice. Great selection of Belgian beer, cider, and wine. One of the few places in Silver Spring that carries lots of high end wines. They also have a high quality sake selection. The whole place is crammed full like a great book store. If you can stand the overwhelming air freshener scent, you'll find lots of good stuff here. read more

Great Shop, Family Owned, Really care about their customers. It has pretty good selection for a place of its size, though sometimes I can't find the specific variety I may be looking for. They do free tastings every Friday, either of beer or wine depending on the week, with a palette cleanser from a local bakery. They're great to talk to if you're not sure what to get, and they concentrate on getting you the right wine, not the most expensive one. I used to be a regular, coming in about once a week because the beer selection was pretty good. I'm okay paying more to support a local business that has products I cannot get elsewhere. About a year ago I stopped going as often when I bought a bottle of wine from here that had mold in it. My girlfriend went to return it and the owner insisted that mold is common in bottles of wine. Instead of immediately offering an similarly priced bottle of wine as a replacement, the owner argued with her about whether or not we were entitled to a refund. It makes me mad when people don't value their customers and aren't ashamed to sell moldy products. After a long hiatus, I came back this fall for pumpkin beer. The price for the beer was so outrageous that I decided I will not be coming back. read more
