We checked out the soft opening of the new Honcho Diego in downtown Fenton, and WOW -- absolutely blown away! We ordered the queso appetizer, the Trendkill taco, carne asada taco, and the steak rice bowl, and every single bite was a 10/10. The flavors were bold, fresh, and super well-balanced. You can tell they put real thought into every dish. The vibe inside is just as impressive -- modern, fun, and totally welcoming. Safe to say we'll be attending OFTEN. This spot is going to be a go-to!

Never going back now. We normally only go out to lunch on Saturdays. 2pm is too late for lunch. Smoke Street in Milford is open at lunch time for anyone that does the same.

This is probably my favorite place in Fenton right now. The atmosphere: I love the location, and how the place looks inside. It has a fun vibe to it, but plenty of seating for you to enjoy with 1 other person or even 7 other people. The food: the BBQ is stellar, especially being in Michigan. The fries are delicious! The Mac and cheese is what they're known for. The bread + the butter... definitely recommend The cost: I think for the size of the portion, the cost is reasonable and you get what you paid for. I've been back every month, and I will be back again in the near future!

An old fire hall turned restaurant, the decor and the feel of the place is SO cute. From the wall paper, to the old garage doors, they did such a good job on restoring it! The food was absolutely amazing. Their mac and cheese is a definite must. It's a baked Mac and cheese with a crispy layer on top.... Yum! I got it as a side and it was a good size portion. For an app we split one of their specials- bourbon soaked cherry flatbread. It was hands down the best flat bread I've ever had. Their menu wasn't huge, but everything looked so good that I'm gonna have to come back and try more! Especially during the summer since the patios look so cute to sit on when the weather is nice.

This place is always amazing, from their staff to the endless seating options that they have. The Mac n Cheese was delicious and creamy. The Carolina burger was tender and juicy! Thanks again for always being on point!

Meat loaf sandwich was awesome , Potato salad also very good. Had an artichoke dip as an appetizer was good but way too big for one. The bar tender was great kept water full, beer going. It's like an old firehouse upstairs and downstairs great music playing.

Third time eating here, food is always great. Service is always top notch. Yesterday we ate out on the patio with our fur baby. Always a little worried when you sit outside that service will be lacking, not at all, waiter (Brandon, I think) kept up out drinks and did a great job.

The artichoke and fennel dip is amazing. The bread was extra crispy on the outside and nice and firm in the middle. I highly recommend getting this as a starter. I had hoped for for more brisket in my entree, but it was delicious nonetheless. The cornbread was outstanding, the fries were delicious, but the Mac n cheese was only mediocre. The service was a bit slow, but that could have been due to the fact that we were the first ones to arrive for dinner time at around 5pm. We had quite a long wait time but nothing too outrageous. I'd recommend this location!

    Fried pickles

I was in Fenton when traveling back home from Detroit and stumbled across this place. The fried pickles caught my eye and I was blown away! They were huge pickle spears with a light and crispy beer batter, probably the best fried pickles I have ever had! I also got the Korean BBQ tacos, which has had pulled pork and a crunch zesty slaw on top! I will definitely be back if I am ever in Fenton again!

So good! Everything is always fresh and the service is great. Don't ever have to ask for a drink refill. Waitress was very attentive.

I added the French onion soup for $11 and it was the perfect lunch. The soup was excellent, except there was way too much cheese! Half the bowl was cheese. I love that the flavor was there yet I had more broth than onions. Oddly enough, French onion soup is one of my favs, but I don't want to eat the onions! They have a great selection of coffee drinks. I got the iced sweet and salty with no vanilla syrup. It had a salted caramel cold foam atop of cold brew. I mixed it all up and had a deliciously creamy drink!

You may be wondering why we chose a restaurant about 60 miles away for our review this…read more month. The answer is simple, because its darn good. Mrs. She-Ate and I are excited to share our esteem for this place with you. I first became aware of The Laundry around 2014 when I was leading a series of professional development workshops with the Flint Community Schools. A good friend and colleague who lived in the area suggested we have dinner not too far south of Flint and my taste buds have been blown ever since. The quaint bedroom community of Fenton has been benefitting from not just good food and libations, but also the cultural hub that The Laundry has become. Having first opened over 25 years ago on a site that was a former laundromat, the restaurant is embedded as an anchor in the downtown development and as a stalwart in supporting community initiatives- public schools and art, libraries, charities, and the chamber of commerce. They are as proud of that work as they are the James Beard nominated chefs who grace their kitchen. When you visit the bistro, with its locally sourced ingredients and on-site vegetable garden and beehive, you immediately know you're in a place that takes their food seriously. Craft cocktails and scratch-made meals are a hallmark, and while you may have prolonged anticipation while somethings arrive at your table, they are often well worth the wait. My very first meal years ago at The Laundry was a pork shank Osso buco that is still one of the best plates in my life. They also offer a cheese spread know as Gorg Dip that continues to be a hit whenever I recreate it during the holidays- cream cheese, leek, bacon, apricot, gorgonzola. Trust me, these people know what they're doing with flavors. Oh, wait, I forgot to mention they also double the fun with a bakery as their sister company, Crust, and a coffee house, Side Door, which is quite literally the Side Door to the restaurant. The baked goods are phenomenal, and rumor has it that leftover pastries are captured for the next day's bread pudding- which again is some of the best I've ever had. What's Really Good My Much Better Half stole away for a midday excursion to Fenton and enjoyed a "late brunch" at the Laundry. The coffee is a prime example of an exercise in patience- super slow in the advent but spot on once we were able to sip the hot, frothy Nutty Professor ($6.25. This is an espresso-based drink with house made caramel and macadamia syrup. For a sweet starter, we shared Jeff's Pull Apart Bread ($5) which is a single loaf shaped monkey bread. Packed with sweet notes of caramel and cinnamon and then smothered with a house made cream cheese frosting. Near perfect. What's Superb I must make note of the friendly and knowledgeable service we received. We were made aware of potential delays in plates and drinks but were also never an afterthought as our server checked on us multiple times with a genuine joy you only find when people really like where they work. We were both highly impressed and that was before she told us about her FIFTY-SIX hours in labor last July as she and My Much Better Half traded birthing stories. On the food side, I was torn between two items and our server asked how hungry I was. She then encouraged me to order the #125 The Money Maker ($17) and I was very much enchanted. A grilled brioche bun holds a heaping mound of hot honey butter braised chicken that is topped with applewood smoked bacon and a house made pimento cheese spread. The meat was tender and the kick from the heat was remarkable but not overblown. The pimento cheese spread is so good it also belongs in a jar to be purchase on the way out. I also ordered the Roasted Potatoes($3.50) which were just okay, to be honest, but there was enough flavor in the sammie that it didn't matter much. Best Bite My dining mate is a lifelong pursuit of the perfect French Onion soup. She ordered the House made Soup and Sandwich ($25) and I think she got as close as possible. Not to be relegated to second billing was the Petite Croque Monsieur with layers of ham, Gruyère cheese, and a traditional croque sauce. Yet, the star of the show was the unctuous soup with broiled Gruyère and croutons and slivers of onion that have been carmelized and stewed in a succulent beef broth for longer than you or I would have patience for.

The space is smaller but very welcoming and definitely feels like a local hangout spot. When you walk in, the specials board is front and center, including their Burger of the Month, which is what I ordered. Mine featured goat cheese, spinach, strawberry compote, and jalapeños. The flavor combination was unique and really worked well together, and the burger itself was juicy. Personally, I would have loved a bit more char for those crispy edges, but the flavors were definitely there. It came with rosemary fries that were thin, crispy, and generously seasoned. I added a side of hot honey for dipping, which ended up being an unexpectedly amazing combo. The restaurant has a great beer selection, plenty of TVs for sports, fun retro-style décor, and soft lighting that creates a relaxed atmosphere. Even at 9 PM, there were families with kids dining, so it feels very family-friendly rather than a late-night bar scene. Noise levels were low enough that conversation was easy, which I really appreciated. Bathrooms were also exceptionally clean. My main hesitation was pricing. A quesadilla was around $15 and my burger was $20, which pushed dinner for one person with a drink and tip to about $35. While that seems comparable to nearby spots like Boston's, it felt a bit high for casual bar-style dining. Parking is limited, but the location is convenient, just minutes from I-75 and surrounded by other restaurants. Service was amazing. We were sad immediately and she checked back often and said what her favorite thing on the menu was. Overall, good food, creative menu options, and a comfortable atmosphere. With a little refinement and maybe slightly better value, this could easily become a regular stop.
