I actually really liked this place!! Came across it on yelp when looking for a place to have breakfast in the city. Its situated on Burnette lane - so away from the hustle and bustle of the city despite being only a couple minutes walk from Queen st. It's got a massive window (it was open when we were there) which made indoors feel like outdoors - fresh air - yay! :) The staff were friendly. The menu was interesting. Quite a few non-standard breakfast dishes - not very well described on the menu so you had no idea what to expect (could've asked the staff i spos but i wanted to be surprised). And it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! I got the bowl full of a lot of ingredients - sounded healthy yet tasty at the same time. And it was. The kimchi somehow blended right in! The servings aren't particularly large. Enough to fill you up but not massive so that you are absolutely stuffed by the end of it, like so many other brunch places. I also got a tumeric latte. No coffee. Like a chai latte except with tumeric. Tasted ok - quite mild. Nice cosy cafe to hang out at. Very cool place. Would def come back.

Felix is one of Brisbane's hidden treasures. And I literally mean hidden. Tucked away off Burnett Lane in the CBD, it's easy to miss unless you're looking hard for an open black door with signage or happen to glance upwards to see cafe dwellers looking out of the window-paned wall. Head up the stairs to find an open warm timber-filled room, beautifully decked out with natural looking homewares and furniture. Felix has recently had a facelift and expanded so what was once a tiny sunken spot now has plenty of seating but beware, they get busy. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a regularly changing menu using seasonal produce and with as much as possible made in-house including their condiments and baked goods. The day menu is split up into sections of breakfast-only, all-day breakfast and lunch. The usual breakfast basics are there but amped up with speciality extras - for example the avocado on sourdough ($10) comes with ras el hanout labneh and saurkraut. Coffee is a house blend by Single Guys and made with Maleny Dairies milk. Apart from coffee and tea, there is a range of healthy smoothies like raw chocolate shake with banana ($8) which you can add a shot of espresso to for 50c. From the current menu I tried the baked beans with pesto toast ($12) and substituted the sourdough for gluten-free pumpkin bread ($1.50). The beans had an al dente texture that indicated they were homemade and cooked from dry beans and although weren't overly flavourful by themselves, with the thickly spread pesto on the toast they were absolutely delicious and a substantial start to the day. My friends ordered Poached Eggs on sourdough with relish ($12) and couldn't resist adding the house smoked local fish ($5), which was mackerel on the day, and the Breakfast Bowl of fresh and poached fruit with house made chia coconut yoghurt and seed granola ($14.50). The eggs were perfectly poached and the fish was mildly smoky and although a touch dry, a winner. The Breakfast Bowl had a beautiful range of seasonal fruit including starfruit and went down a treat. I've visited Felix many times and have always left very satisfied and happy. After always being tempted by the array of freshly baked goods on the counter, I finally got around to ordering one of their kale, feta and spelt scones ($4.50) recently and have become obsessed with them. Served warm, they are the perfect scone specimen with crunchy outside and warm, flaky inside, plus they are huge. Spread on the kefir (fermented) butter for absolute happiness. Last time I opted to get some extra pesto ($1.50) and highly recommend that too. Seriously, kale has never tasted this good. For lunch my go-to is one of their daily-changing salad bowls, which are always delicious. They have recently started doing dinner and while I haven't tried it yet, I've seen sneak peeks on their Instagram account and I'm super keen to try. With consistently delicious quality food and coffee, a gorgeous interior and reasonable prices, Felix is always a winner in my books.

It seems unfair to review a place after only one day of trade especially when they're still getting their menu together and waiting on a liquor license. But so proud of small businesses like Felix taking a chance to bring a little bit more lane way love to Brisbane, that I have to tell you dear Yelpers about it. Burnett Lane is already home to Super Whatnot and Suvery Co, and Felix fits nicely in between the two. It's open and airy and the trucks driving up the lane way as I sip my iced latte (it is still a service lane way for the stores on the Queen St Mall) it doesn't take away from the atmosphere of the cafe. In fact, I think over time it will just become a part of the fabric of the place. Felix is pouring Cup coffee and I'm told the eventual aim will be to have a menu focused on whole foods. Think chia puddings and the like. They'll also be serving Goat Pie Guy pies. Did I just find my perfect winter office? I think so. Being so hot yesterday I could only summon the energy to order an iced latte - it was fairly stock standard. Don't let that turn you off it just means they're consistent with the Cup blend and frankly, it says more about my current relationship woes with coffee than anything else. I popped in on my way to the Wednesday markets and had a lovely chat to the owner. It's just that kind of place. Seated in the sunken dining area there's ample room to enjoy yourself - work on your laptop or just watch the world go by in the lane way below. The curiosity on other patrons faces as they discovered what was within after a short walk up the entrance stairs was grand to watch. I'm looking forward to seeing what Felix grows up to be!

Felix is a special little place. They have a cute little location, amazing decor, a great vibe, and friendly staff. What really makes Felix special though, is their food. Freshly prepared, with the heaviest emphasis on dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan friendly food I've seen in the Brisbane CBD. I myself don't fall into any of the above categories, but I'm constantly amazed by how effortlessly they make delicious eats out of all the healthy things. Think cashew nut based raw cheesecakes, chia pots, chocolate beetroot cakes, fresh ricotta tarts (baked daily) and the bestest, freshest salads in the city. Never heard of a dairy-free affogato? Neither had I! Cashew nut ice cream?!?! You better believe it. Needless to say, Felix is pumping. They have limited seating, so if you want in, be prepared to rub shoulders around peak hours. Take away orders are more than welcome, which is usually how I roll (half-hour lunch breaks suck.) The other neat thing about Felix is their cooking classes. Love that crazy vegan cake they sell? You can book in for a night class and learn to make it yourself! They promote their classes via their Instagram page if you want more info.

Tasty morning delights displayed as you walk in

I am having a not so sure what to think moment about this place... It is my second time at Felix. The first time I came for an early morning coffee then I couldn't even get into the sitting area it was that busy... Totally opposite today where there are only 4 other people here. Maybe being Friday morning and there is rain everyone is sleeping in. I ordered a flat white. It was nice not great tiny bit bitter for my taste. Also the cup was pretty small. They had an assortment of freshly made items on the counter as you enter which looked deliciously my only negative to it would be there was no prices so I had to ask.. Just a small price at back of each would have been nice. Also for me a morning coffee means a coffee with the paper and unfortunately there was no daily papers to read. Overall this place is distinct from others in relation to location and decor but just a few minor points which rate it as an average experience for me. I will try again maybe in a few months.

Great little spot on Burnett lane for those who want to escape the bustle of the city and the unhealthy eating options that come with it. Felix is perched up high with a great open atmosphere, with sleek welcoming design and loads of sweet potatoes in crates against one of the walls. They do a great range of healthy lunch and breakfast options here, with a range of good coffees and cold drinks on the side. I opted for a juice and a chicken sandwich with kimchi. I made the rash mistake, as I usually do, of confusing kimchi Mayo for kewpie mayo and was a tad taken aback when my the bottom of my sandwich was completely soaked in orange goo. That being said, it was still tasty and a great change from the over the top, expensive sandwiches you get from most other CBD cafes. I'd definitely return but the place was a little steep with regards to price.

Tucked away in Burnett Lane is Felix...arguably one of the city's best kept secrets. They say Felix is for goodness and goodness gracious they could not hit the mark any closer. The recently refurbished space has been designed by one of the owners (who is also an architect...dreamy, right?!). Although it has lost some of its cosy charm, it has created an infinitely more practical space to feed the many hungry mouths who love this place. Breakfast options include all the standards plus a few neat little tricks. Aka come at me pork belly with perfect poached eggs on house made sourdough. Lunch features daily salads and baguettes alongside perennial favourites including burgers. What has got me really excited is the dinner. I have not experienced yet but will be doing so soon! Oh, and I usually take away a house baked cinnamon scroll because I am a glutton for baked things! This one rivals Sprout in deliciousness.

This place could have had 5 stars if it wasn't for the service. We were invited to sit down so we did, taking a seat at a table that needed clearing from the previous occupants. You place and pay for your order at the counter, then they bring it out to you. I had to ask for the table to be cleared, despite sitting there for well over 15 minutes, and then again once it became clear she was not going to come back and wipe it down, I had to ask again. Food wise- absolutely delicious. I had the veggie frittata and salad which was huge and really fresh while my mum had a breakfast menu items that looked equally delicious. A shame their service was hit and miss, it wasn't even a busy time (1.30-2.30pm on a weekday) as it has potential with the cute space and delicious fresh food.

I popped in here for a wine with a friend and automatically felt at home. The rustic feel of the venue was inviting and I settled in. We found this place by accident and, for a first date, it was a good spot. The venue is split int three spaces, the bar, the restaurant looking space and the sunken area. We took a seat at the window bar in the sunken space and looked over the laneway as we chatted. I really enjoyed my wine. I ordered a glass of rose, the only one by the glass on the menu, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the butteriness that complimented the overarching dry tones. My date ordered a Young Henry's (NSW) cider, which is always a good choice. The waitress managed the space well. The only one on, she went from table to table, dotted across the venue and was pleasant, calm and pretty knowledgeable about the wine list. In the centre of the sunken area was a large table which I am sure would work perfectly for a big shared dinner. I will assemble a crew and return for sure!

Waited five minutes and watching a wait staff glance at the receipt and decide to take another drink across the other side of the bar. Having waited long enough, and as a young woman being concerned about my drink sitting there unattended with other patrons standing around it I went and grabbed it. I checked the receipt and confirmed it was mine before taking it. When I sat down, the security guy literally tried to wrestle my drink out of my hand, putting his dirty fingers all around the rim. The bar tender came over and started yelling at me. I told them that the receipt showed it was my drink and I had waited so long for it. They responded that they knew it was my drink - then why are you trying to take it off me? I told them my concern about wait time and they just laughed at me and told me that that's just how things are and that I can't just go and grab my own drink. Utter rubbish I've been to many bars and restaurants in Brisbane and have never received such slow and disrespectful service. We had kids sitting at the table and were there for a birthday. To have two fully grown men stand over me, trying to intimidate and belittle me is just sickening. Complained to management and no apology given. They had the audacity to complain about my partner's tone, despite him being calm and much more respectful than the treatment they were giving us. As to the food, it's just a glorified pub. I recommend going elsewhere such as Massimo or Ola. You will receive quality food and staff who actually appreciate your business.

Bit hard to get up on but I loved the table and it was comfortable once I was finally seated properly lol. Service was good but I saw the waitress' friendly face change a bit when I asked to cancel my iced latte and change it to a hot soy latte and my friend asked to have his iced latte changed to iced soy latte. The order hasn't even been fully confirmed yet and the paper wasn't given to the chef so I don't know why it would be a problem. But anyways she put on a smile, said thanks and hurried away. Few minutes later, another girl came to take our food orders and I asked for eggs benedict and if I could have extra hollandaise sauce with it. She said no problem and went off with our orders. Food came about 15 mins later, I liked it. But the poached eggs were undercooked. It was literally leaking water onto the sourdough toast. And another thing, I just think, personally, that there should be two slices of toast if it's thinly sliced. My own preference perhaps? So we finished our meals and had to go settle the bill in person at the counter as they don't print out bills (?). Fair enough but if we want to look at the bill first before going up there to pay and possibly holding up the line if we're looking at the charges more closely, they don't give you that chance. What are we supposed to do if there's a group and with multiple orders? Stand there checking over the bill and have people wait behind us for their turn? Anyways, it turns out the extra hollandaise I asked for in my benedict? Well, they charged me $3 for it. A side blob of hollandaise for $3??! Firstly, the waitress did NOT tell me there was an extra charge and secondly, again with the argument that you have to settle the bill on the spot which doesn't give you much time to look over the charges till after you've paid for it. So, overall, it was a beautiful venue with wonderful views of the water, situated near the story bridge. Food was good. Service was average.
