My daughter never was as easy to handle as she was here, she felt welcomed as much as I did, she loved Dr. Albitar and now every time she feels tired she asks to see him. They helped with some issues with my insurance and my daughters school professionally and pleasantly. The doctor always answers phone calls even on weekends and holidays and does everything he can to help out and as a parent these days it makes a world of a difference when your pediatrician is that helpful and goes the extra mile caring for your children.

I have been coming to this pediatrician for 6 years…read more My experience started when I needed a dr to visit my son at Texas Women's. I had picked a pedi but when Dr. McGrann & another dr visited us in the hospital I felt all these warm fuzzy feelings you want for your first baby. Despite the traveling I would need to do to see them, I decided to switch and Dr. McGrann was our pedi for 6 years. She is so incredibly patient and kind and has wonderful bedside manner especially to new parents who feel a little lost. More than once she went out of her way for my kids after hours to help over the phone when we had minor emergencies. She even followed up every time. However, the other doctors at the facility (who you have to see if your dr is out) just we're not my cup of tea. We saw all of them including and a few who have now left the company that I did really enjoy. For those I didn't mind not getting in with our dr. However, since I've had my youngest in the last two years I've had to see a few drs who have made me less than comfortable (one in particular who is brand new) bc I don't have the same views as some of them (like with newly added pokes or getting tubes for my kids). I often felt pressured to get tubes for my kids despite me continually telling them from my own research that I didn't feel like it was the answer for my family. I blew it off and chalked it up to probably every dr would feel the same because I am always asking out of the box questions, looking for alternatives, and challenging the textbook answers. I did deal with ongoing ear infections with both of my children but felt I had gained control of them for the most part. However, they would occasionally get them back if they got a cold. Recently it has gotten to the point where every time I try to schedule an appointment neither of the two drs I prefer (Dr. McGrann or Dr. Savrick) are available at either location I visit. For a while, my daughter didn't take well to antibiotics and they would never kick the ear infection, so we had one long ear infection that we couldn't get rid of. This took place through her 15 & 18m appointments. Then we had a change in work and insurance so we had a period where we couldn't visit. I enrolled my daughter in a new daycare and like many they require a bill of health to attend. I called in July and neither dr was available from what this person told me for months. I honestly was fed up and at this point just wanted something closer and to see an office with a clean slate since I have gone so long not being able to get apts with our drs. I called to ask if I could get the paperwork signed since she had not been sick other than the ear infection and they told me only if we came in, yet they didn't have any apts for months per my last call. A month later when I called to ask again they suddenly had available apts and the office manager was incredibly rude insinuating I was lying about not being able to get an apt and suddenly they had room. I'm blown away. Genuinely baffled. I'm disappointed. I felt strongly that Dr. McGrann was such a wonderful mentor to me as a new mother and am so sad to leave her, but the office situation and the never getting an appointment is not working for us anymore. I will add however, I was always able to get a sick appointment in the same day if I called first thing in the morning & I am forever grateful to how Dr. McGrann took care of my children for the last 6 years. I will genuinely remember her and her patience with me and my children for the rest of my life, that is how kind she is!

Dr. Chavez is great, and we're always able to see another practitioner for sick visits if she is unavailable. Other than that, however, I took off a couple stars for the following reasons: There was a time when one of Dr. Wilber's nurses asked for my identification while taking my child's medical history. I get that she didn't know me even though we've been coming to this practice for years, but it just seemed odd since it's not like I ask to inspect her nurse's license before treating my child. This has left a lasting negative impression, but it was the only unprofessional encounter we've had here and it hasn't occurred again. Also, if you use Texas Children's Hospital that the insurance verification does not sync between the hospital's system and the pediatric clinic systems. This is annoying that you have to do insurance verification in two places despite the fact that they share EHR systems.

I thought maybe they are busy, maybe this and maybe that but honestly I'm starting to think they are purposefully not picking up calls. I am a nurse myself, and can be picky at times for patient care but Dr. Pate has put me at ease and I feel that I 100 percent have the best pediatrician in all of Houston. I work within a large pediatric hospital, and for me to step outside the system to seek my own pedi is huge and speaks for Dr. Pate's capabilities. Dr. Pate has actively listened to all of our concerns, took account my personal health history, and truly been there for our family. She is also available at all hours for emergencies via her electronic communication service. 20/10 would recommend Dr. Pate and her office staff.
