    Margaritas
    Shayna S.

My favourite Mexican spot in all of Ottawa. This is a quaint and family owned spot. The food is incredible, nothing overly fancy but the cilantro cream sauce is absolutely to die for. Simple items like taco, fajitas, chimichanga (my go to).. plus great margaritas. The service is good, you can tell the lady who works there is very busy and they have young family members working there. Food comes quick enough but it isn't a well-oiled machine or large establishment by any means. So if you can go there with some empathy for the staff, understanding it is a family restaurant and not in a rush you are in a good spot. The environment is really warm, super cute patio and eclectic decor. I really recommend this spot it has been consistently awesome for over 5 years that I've been going there. Kind folks working there, lunch Menu with cheaper prices and did I say margaritas??!

Just got back from an awesome dinner at Feleenas for a party of 11. The food is delicious but lacks an edge on any of their Mexican peers in city. What they ace is ambiance , decor and location Quickly going to pros and cons Pros 1. Location : bank street : can find parking on a weekend , street corner with ample seating space in patio or inside 2. Decor : painted glass lanterns , Muerta memorabilia , sombreros , they have all things shown as Mexican in Hollywood movies in there . Even the yellow tint .that being said you do get a feeling of being absorbed into culture 3. The Feleenas specials :most of the dishes including the flag under this menu category is delicious . The red sauce might be a little spicy but it's delicious 4. Churros , caramel and icecream : yummmm no words 5. Reservation and service : efficient . Just 2 smart efficient girls serving quite a big area 6. Margaritas Cons 1. The standard fare , my chimichanga was not impressive We had a really good time and felt taken care of . Very welcoming

    Feleena's marvelous Margarita!

Feleena's has long been one of my favourite restaurants in Ottawa. Opened by the original owners of Mexicali Rosa's, the menu contains menu items from that long celebrated franchise, and some very nice additions such as Pechuga de Pollo, Carne Asada, and a recent fave, Tequila Shrimp Chile Relleno. Their Margaritas are the best I've ever tasted! Service is always wonderful. And the owners, Clyde and Annie are often on the premises, making sure everyone is happy. Now I wish I hadn't written this review because it's made me very hungry.

    Veg enchiladas

This was the first time I went to Felenas after the red blacks game and luckily I didn't have a long wait. I ordered the enchiladas while my friends ordered the veg fajitas. The veg enchiladas was very different than what I've had at other places, they used vegetables that are in season so items like squash, pumpkin, string beans etc. I felt like a lot of these vegetables don't do with enchiladas and you missed that crunch from the vegetables.

One of the cutest places I've been to in a while. The decor is a bit tacky, but it's fun, bright and eccentric. It doesn't feel like a super fancy restaurant at all and it feels fun for a casual space. My friends and I went there during a Thursday night and there were quite a few reservations but there was a lot of space throughout the restaurant. We were seated pretty quickly. It took a bit longer for the server to get to us for the drinks and food, so it was good that we weren't starving. We ordered 1 L of sangria and it was quite delicious. The server accidentally spilled it on the table (but she was nice and apologetic about it. It took about another 15 minutes before our server came back to take our order. I got the three enchilada special with chicken, beef and cheese with sides of roasted veggies and potato wedges. The enchiladas were delicious and had a bit of a spice/kick to them, but not that much. The veggies were a bit disappointing and I'm pretty sure they were cooked from the frozen packages. The wedges were roasted well, but I really wish I had had more since I only got 3 wedges with my whole order. It ended up coming to $20 for the small enchiladas, 3 wedges and veggies. For the quality of the side dishes as well as the quantity we received, the food could have been a bit less pricey. Overall though, the atmosphere was good, the server was nice and we had a good time sitting together. Would probably go back in the summertime just to sit on the patio.

I love the decorations in this place on a hot day it feels like Mexico. The food is either average or a bit above average and the price is a little bit on the high side 50$ for drink appetizer and main, for one. I was tempted to only give one star! Real talk: the host/owner claimed they have the best Mexican food in Ottawa... They said the guacamole was going to be the best guacamole I will ever have...bold statements!!! So of the bat the best guak of your life will not be in Ottawa... In trying to be the best you need to at least have fresh and ripe ingredients. But that is not their fault you can't get proper avacados in Canada. At least they could have made it fresh, the color should have been pale green not yellowy green. Anyway far from the hype they create. However the owners seem really nice.. ughh In a fake kind of way. Don't throw the card machine on the table in front of your client it's rude, and then come back and throw the receipt down. I get that you are busy! Also there was dirt on my glass, check out the pic!!

The perfect plate of food if you're very hungry! My partner and I went to dinner here to celebrate our anniversary and it was so lovely. Inside was decorated really nicely! I ordered the fish tacos and it came with a side of black beans and rice. I was not expecting the sides to wow me but it was so so good! Afterwards my partner and I were talking about our good meals all night. (really fast service & took safe precautions due to Covid-19)

We enjoyed our Mexican food out on their festively decorated patio on a Sunday afternoon. As soon as we sat down, someone came and wiped down the already clean table, which was nice. Service was prompt and courteous and not overly attentive, which we liked - no hovering. We had chips and salsa to start - nice spicy salsa and fresh chips. We ordered chicken tacos and the beef tostada. Both came with rice, black beans and a corn salsa. The portions were very generous and the food was quite tasty. I'd go back. The bill for chips and salsa, a Perrier water, chicken tacos and a beef tostada was $46 including tip.

I was SO stoked to finally visit the Moonroom after seven or so years of wanting to go!…read more After a Saturday night at Bluesfest, we waited somewhere else for about half an hour before they told us the kitchen was backed up, so we walked down Preston and I was so glad the Moonroom was still open. We didn't get there until about 12:30am and it was pretty full. We didn't leave until maybe 2:30am and it was still pretty full considering the time. They're not normally open this late, but it seems like a lot of the businesses on Preston decided to stay open later to catch the post-Bluesfest crowd. Good call! We decided to sit inside since there was an empty table, otherwise I would've liked to sit out on their back patio, which looked really pretty with the lights. Inside was a nice vibe though, too. It's small/narrow, dimly lit, with sheets covering the different coloured ceiling lights, and candles on the table. It's very intimate and pretty romantic. We sat close to the bar and there was another party of two beside us. The music was a bit louder so we couldn't really hear the other table's conversations, but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other. They were playing the Bee Gees when we walked (danced) in, so we were really about the jams. My husband got a rotating draught IPA by Daft Brewing, can't remember which one it was. I got the Jill Collins, which had Tanqueray Gin, Affino Limone, fresh lemon and mint, cane syrup, and a Moon soda top. It was super refreshing, bright, and not too sweet, which is exactly what I wanted. We shared/I mostly ate the "OG Grilled Cheese" and "Panzanella-esque Salad". The grilled cheese had aged Balderson and cream cheeses in a crunchy baguette smothered in toasted garlic butter, served with Moon ketchup. It was exactly as described, with very crunchy, buttery garlic bread and creamy cheese. The Moon ketchup is made in-house, thinner and chunkier than processed, store-bought ketchup, with stronger flavours. It was okay, but I didn't need to dip much in the ketchup because I really enjoyed the sandwich and it was on the saltier side itself. Because it was a lot creamier than gooey, I'd say it was more of a sandwich than a grilled cheese, but still very tasty. I really am not a huge fan of salad in general, but I can't complain when it was burrata on top. It also had salty bread, arugula, roasted tomatoes, fresh peaches, herbs, and honey. The peaches were more firm than ripe and juicy, which was good for a salad, though I wish they were a bit sweeter. The burrata wasn't creamy inside like I expected, but I love cheese in any form. I really don't know what possessed me to get salad, especially after a bunch of drinks in the wee hours of the night, but my body thanked me later. Salty, bitter, a little sweet, fresh, and not heavy, even with (more) bread and cheese. It was great. They unfortunately ran out of the affogato, which probably would've convinced my husband to stay longer. Too bad. The vegan dark chocolate gelato from Farinella that they put in it sounded amazing. The beer was $10.50, my cocktail was $19, grilled cheese $16, and salad $17, which was pricey. BUT, the fresh herbs are from their garden on the back patio, they make their own soda and ketchup (among other things), everything was delicious, and even late at night the cocktails and dishes were still well put together and tasted great, plus I finally came here after so long. No regrets! Our server was super nice, same with owner and one of the bartenders, who even popped over and sat with us for a bit to chat. And not in a weird/creepy/in-your-face way lol she was cool. She was the one who greeted us when we came in and said bye to us on our way out. There's no flash photography (I forgot to turn my auto flash off for my salad, sorry!). They're open all week from 5pm to 2am, no reservations, no large groups, and no phone (just stop by). I wasn't sure if it would meet the high expectations and hype I had built up in my head after waiting so long to visit, but it totally did. It's such a nice spot, we had an amazing time, and we will definitely be back!

Met some local friends at Stolen Goods and wow!…read more I loved every bit of this experience from the super creative drinks to the super cute raccoon theme found throughout! We sat up on the bar so we got a front row seat to all the magic. I was super impressed when the bartenders told us they kind of shoot from the hip for all their drinks in that they don't test it prior! They'll make small adjustments usually for acidity or sweetness but otherwise, you're basically experimenting alongside with them if it's on a recent menu change! My favorite drink of the night was the drink inspired by green curry. First and foremost, I was so confused when it came out clear! But when you took a sniff, you get the fresh scent of basil with some kaffir lime. On first taste, you also pick up some creaminess with the herbaceous notes which really makes it reminiscent of green curry - but it wasn't?! It was confusing, in a good way. My second favorite (of three) was the fruit loops infused drink. It paid homage to childhood Saturday mornings perfectly with the fruit loops whipped topping and the fruity cocktail underneath. It was a fun and lighthearted drink! My third was a drink featuring honeydew. It's such an underrated flavor because it's so hard to find a GOOD honeydew. In similar fashion, this drink also fell a bit short in the floral, sweet honeydew flavor and the cucumber flavor overpowered the drink. Having said that, the cucumber was really refreshing on such a humid day! All in all, loved the concept, loved the experimenting, and really enjoyed the vibes!

We got the King's ransom, Them's the breaks and Petty Theft. King's ransom came in an adorable pig shaped glass and had a fruity yet very smokey flavour. Them's the breaks was also lovely with some familiar fruity strawberry sweetness and a very interesting Merlot pink salt. Last but not least, Petty Theft was our favourite of the night with familiar SE Asian flavours and the nitrogen meringue experience which you pop in your mouth before sipping the drink. This one was $24 since it's a cocktail with a 72 hour process. This is a great spot if you love trying new drinks. The service is friendly, the music is on point and the overall ambience is perfect for a night out. They also take reservations - I recommend the bar seat.
