We found that interviewing contractors for the job was stressful: costs were not disclosed up front and none gave us the feeling that we could trust them to deal with us fairly. So, it turned out to be a welcome pleasure to deal with Broadway Kitchen and Bath's owner, Jeff Chinman. From the beginning, he was honest and forthcoming about all aspects of the renovation. He really is a gem: a NYC vendor for many years who really has the customer's best interests in mind. While the showroom is unimpressive, it turns out that everything ordered through them turned out to be of good quality and reasonably priced. As various unexpected expenses were incurred, additional charges were also handled in a fair manner. At times when another contractor might have taken the easy way out on some aspect of the job, we found that Jeff would listen to our concerns and would try to find a solution that would satisfy us. No cutting corners! The two associates who were assigned to our job were terrific: Jimmy and Oscar. They managed to be as unobtrusive as they could be (e.g., cutting wood out on our balcony even in the bitter cold to minimize dust and noise). Would I hire them again? YES, absolutely. The blond oak planks were cut and ripped to my specific needs at no additional cost. Quality of the wood was excellent, no knots, straight and not dinged up in any way. "Back up your vehicle into the garage as to not get a ticket at the hydrant" was the advice of the workers, who accommodated my contractor by loading up the material and attaching a red plastic flag to the end, for visual warning to drivers behind his truck.

Adam, who seems to run inbound customer leads, was far and away the fastest to reply and the most communicative of the many businesses I considered for my new countertop job. After a few messages back and forth, I was able to pop by the warehouse in New Jersey for a hands on tour to select the right design and get recommendations on styles I hadn't previously considered. The one I settled on was purchased, measured, cut, and installed in under a week. And the price for the quality of stone I received was far better than some of the household brands you might immediately think about when undertaking a renovation of this caliber. If I needed their services again in the future, I'd absolutely do it in a heartbeat. But if you're in the market yourself, be sure you give them a chance at your business before going forward with your own kitchen remodel.
