I was referred to Dr. Feldman by a really knowledgeable dental consultant. It was fairly easy to go see Dr. Feldman. Dr. Feldman had a beautiful office and wonderful office staff. Our consult was great. I found him knowledgeable, experienced to the extreme and very personable. I definitely don't understand why someone would characterize him as rude because he was very polite and interested in me and what had brought me to his office. I was most surprised by his low pricing relative to his reputation and amount of experience! For about 3-4 months I had investigated the cost and where to go to complete a total mouth reconstruction. I.e. implants and fixed dentures. I spent weeks researching and meeting with dental consultants. I came to Dr. Feldman's office assuming he would provide me with the upper range in pricing for dental implants. His prices were actually lower than non surgeons with a third of his experience. If you read my other reviews, you will see that I always do my homework with regards to getting things done that matter. Without a doubt Dr. Feldman and Dr. Bloomquist at Swedish in Seattle are the best in the Pacific Northwest at dental and maxillofacial surgery. read more

2 years ago I was diagnosed with throat cancer, discovered accidentally during a dental procedure. One day shortly afterwards - I woke up in excruciating pain. A piece of bone was protruding from my jaw, lacerating my tongue every time I spoke. I went to a dentist who referred me to Dr Feldman - I got an appointment right away - which made me happy- late in the afternoon. This was 2 years ago - but from the office you'd think it was 1978- the receptionist was aghast that I had not brought my checkbook. I hadn't written a check in years - they did not have the ability to take any kind of credit/debit cards. Then they came to get me, taking another complete set of ex rays - One of the first things Dr Feldman told me my drs were idiots and that there was no way cancer could be diagnosed from dental ex rays - which struck me odd - Drs don't usually bad mouth each other. After that he looked at the ex rays then told me that he was leaving in 2 hours to fly to Singapore to meet a grandchild and that someone would contact me in 2 weeks to schedule something - he had only taken my appointment to "get another one in " before his vacation then he was gone. I was in pain and all he did was try to cast doubt in my medical team - milk my insurance and leave. Funny thing though - I managed to fall a asleep that night - when I woke up the next morning - it was gone - it had broken off in the night - less than 10 hours after he looked at my ex rays. You'd think one could tell. I never heard from him again - but he continues to bill me the $40 co pay - I am sure it has cost him more than that to try to wring the $40- I hope since then he has upgraded his office to include those new fangled card readers Why'd I wait so long? I had another oral surgery nightmare recently and it all came back- honestly I thought he was no longer practicing - he seemed pretty close to being on his last legs then. He left me scared and in pain and danced off read more

Feldman is past his prime. His staff follow his lead. Incompetent in so many ways I cannot detail here. He needs to retire. He also had a patient who died: https://www.seattlepi.com/local/article/Fifth-dental-death-in-3-years-1280106.php Be careful with this guy. He may have had good years, but not anymore. Greed personified and a nasty man too. I was referred to Dr. Feldman because my physician had seen him successfully bill my particular medical insurance for the surgical procedure I needed to have. From the first moment Dr. Feldman stepped into the room with me, I was treated with incredible contempt. Once Dr. Feldman heard I was trying to use my insurance, he stopped looking at my case and started snatching all the files and x-rays down. Even though I have had my insurance billed for the same procedure and my physician told me it would be covered, Dr. Feldman said it would be "too much of a chance" for their staff to bill my insurance. I asked, helplessly, whether I was in danger not having the surgery. Yes, I could get an infection because of my autoimmune issues and recent heart surgery. He said, "you're going to have to raise several tens of thousands of dollars or I don't know what's going to happen to you." He then refused to examine the reason I had come in - a tooth that had fallen out, where bony spikes where sticking up. Nice compassion, doc. read more

I was referred to Dr. Feldman from my usual dentist after he told me I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed ASAP. I got FOUR wisdom teeth pulled back in August. The pre-procedure and procedure went very well and service from the nurses and Dr. Feldman was great. They answered all of my questions and made me feel less nervous. I thought scheduling was easy and I did not have any postoperative problems. They gave me a relaxation pill and and anti-nausea pill. Along with those, I was also given IV anesthesia, and it was just great. I did not feel anything, and when I woke up the pain was managed from the drugs. I did however feel gouged when I had to pay $120 just to speak to Dr. Feldman for about 3 minutes in person when I had a question about some minor pain in my mouth. I wish they would have let me know it was that expensive or I would not have even gone to the office. I learned a lesson! Overall I had a good experience. I hope I do not have to see an oral surgeon again anytime soon. If I do, I would probably go to see Dr. Feldman. read more

I saw Dr. Feldman today for a couple of complex extractions and a bone graft. I cannot say enough great things about him and his staff. My case was complicated and within hours I was resuming normal daily activities (with the help of my pain meds of course). He talked me through the entire procedure while he was doing it. I couldn't have been happier. I started the first part of this review almost 2 years ago and have to say that the periodontist who finished me up in Michigan was impressed with the work as well. We even took our 5 year old daughter in for a second opinion and he was great with her as well. read more

Good listed first, no so good after. Good: Wisdom teeth removal seemed to have went well, can't be 100% sure as I am only a few days out. Dr. Feldman and his staff were very friendly nice people. Bad: I was left with zero instruction on how to take care of my stitches after leaving the office. No instruction whatsoever. I went home and began to bleed a lot form one hole and had no guidance to follow apart from what I found online. We can get most information from the internet, but I was really dissappointed that the office couldn't go through the trouble to send me home with some sort of care instructions. i found this to be very thoughtless of the office procedure. I felt like a money bag at this office. I think I had a max of 10 minutes face-to-face time with the Doctor. It was all about just getting me back in to get my teeth out. I understand the Doctor has a lot of patients to see, but I would have appreciated having more time to be talked to. The operating room was terrifying in its appearance. An old, old chair with arm straps. I almost thought it was a joke to be honest. I understand why they gave me pre-operative drugs to calm me down, had I been in my right mind I might have run away at the sight of that spooky thing! read more

I am not sure why Yelpers be hating so much... I had my wisdom teeth extracted yesterday by Dr. Feldman. The doctor and his staff did a great job putting me at ease before and after the surgery. I don't remember much after the surgery I was in la-la land. They even went the extra step of calling my orthodontists to confirm that I was supposed to have a tooth in front pulled in preparation for my braces. Good folks and easy to work with. read more

The spotty reviews here are no surprise. We made attempts to get someone from Dr. Feldman's office to communicate with us about an appointment for an extraction. We spoke with Veronica. She has a testy manner that is off-putting and has not follow-through. After three tries, we gave up an found another dentist. We had to wonder about why this office treats potential patients with such disdain. Clearly, Dr. Feldman is in the sunset of his years as a dentist. And must be ferrying between his offices in Seattle and Bremerton. Still, a dental practice is a business and not matter how high an opinion the doctor has instilled in his staff about their enterprise, everyone deserves to be treated with respect. That is probably not going to happen to you if you somehow end up there. His specialty is pulling teeth. Isn't that dental school 101? Yet this man has made a career of it and his office gives off the vibe that this is a very special thing. read more

Just had my wisdom teeth out at Dr. Feldman's office and have 2 things to say. 1) his staff, especially Luis and Gloria who worked with me, are incredibly kind and very easy to talk to. They put me at absolute ease before the surgery and I'm usually terrified of needles and IV's (childish, I know) but barely felt any anxiety. 2) I have had extractions before and was loopy on the nitrous oxide for hours after the procedure, but Dr. Feldman and his staff used the perfect amount of sedation and, after a short post-surgery nap, I woke up feeling fantastic. Would highly recommend this doctor to friends and family. read more

Doctor Feldman removed my four wisdom teeth in short order. He has a great team and did great work. I'm recovering well and am very, very satisfied with the surgery. They gave me some drugs to take before the surgery to get relaxed, and then one of Dr. Feldman's associates spoke with me while I went under. I woke up, sore and four teeth lighter at home! Everyone was very professional and friendly. I highly recommend Dr. Feldman and his team. read more

I'm posting this review less than 24 hours after my wisdom tooth extraction. This was my first time being put under, getting any sort of surgery and I was nervous about it to say the least. The office staff did a thorough job during my consultation, and Dr. Feldman eased my worries by reminding me he also does jaw reconstruction surgery so my wisdom tooth procedure was going to go fine. In terms of billing, the office was helpful in giving a sort of ballpark where the price might fall. My bill was accurate to this amount and I feel very content with the service provided through their very speedy use of my insurance. On the actual day of my surgery, I strolled in, asked maybe a few too many questions to the staff (considering the fact that I was going to be put under and would not be awake for the entire procedure so I didn't really need to know), woke up, went to the resting room, went home, and ate a boatload of mashed potatoes. I got extremely lucky in my health combined with Dr. Feldman's expert skill as I have not had to take any painkillers and don't have any nasty pain or bleeding at all. His staff was extremely comforting, helpful, and I would credit them for a smooth procedure and would highly recommend their office. read more

This review is on behalf of my son, who had jaw surgery to help set his bite more correctly after years of braces not quite doing the job. The surgery itself went fine, and have no issues here. The issue is with the charges, communication and ultimate billing. Both my son and I heard it's possible insurance may not cover this type of surgery, but it turns out ours did. We were told the cost would be approximately $10K if insurance didn't cover. Given it did, the estimate was $2,200. Ultimately, we received a bill for $2,600, though one month after this 'final bill', we received an additional charge of $96 that was never fully explained other than the best that I/we can tell is we were charged for the follow-up appointment even though this should've been part of the original total charge. Then, nine months after the surgery, we received a bill for another $1,700+ from the surgery center. And, this was net of insurance coverage. I emailed to complain why we were receiving more charges when we already received the final and was told the surgery center bills completely separate (I guess we non-medical billing experts were to know this even though I'd specifically asked if this was the total bill when paying the $2,600 to then ultimately be $2,700). I was offered no 'I'm sorry this may have been confusing', just this is separate and you likely owe this. In other words, Dr. Feldman made $10,000+ from a surgery that took approximately two hours with a follow-up discharge that he forgot and showed up two hours late the next day. And, apparently the surgery center made another $29,000 from the insurance company, so I'm supposed to be grateful it was covered. It's what I get for saying I could afford the original $10K in case the insurance didn't cover. Bottom line, be prepared to keep paying and ask if there is separate billing. And, remind about appointments considering he forgot about the next day discharge (he at least owned this mistake, but considering how much this cost all around and how much I paid out of pocket, the 'I'm sorry I forgot' rings hollow). read more

I've definitely experienced better in regards to patient respect and treatment. Dr. Feldman did a quality job in removing my wisdom teeth, but what I experienced after ended up being quite a frustrating experience. I developed a dry socket where one of my wisdom teeth was removed. I understand this to be relatively uncommon and can result from genetic factors and lifestyle choices... it's not the cause of the Doctor, typically. The weekend following the surgery I went to the ER as the pain from dry socket is excruciating. I literally spent two days sweating and shaking and constantly nauseous from the pain. Unfortunately the medicine given to me by an ER doctor over the weekend did next to nothing for the pain. Needless to say I was very eager to see Dr. Feldman on Monday. I went in Monday morning to have the area packed with a medicated gauze that would alleviate my pain. Initially the surgical assistant packing the area didn't listen to me when I told her which side the dry socket was on. She began flushing the wrong area (dangerous as you can loosen a blood clot that has developed to protect the wounded area). When I pulled my head back to tell her she was on the wrong side, she grabbed my jaw and said "if you don't let me do this, it won't get any better". After hearing me tell her she was on the wrong side, she then vigorously packed the correct area, many times missing the socket entirely and stabbing me with the tweezers in the gums. After, I asked about pain medicine, explaining that the hydromorphone given to my by the ER doctor was ineffective. Instead of explaining to me that the packing would stop the pain almost entirely, she said "if the ER doctor gave you hydromorphone then we are not giving you anything different, you don't need more than one medication". Her tone was aggressive and disrespectful. As a student of Medicine I understand that medications have different effects on different individuals. When I explained to her that my body was not responding to the hydromorphone she stood firm in not giving me any different pain medication. This made me feel like she assumed I was stock-piling narcotic pain killers for abuse or something along those lines. It felt degrading. After leaving the office, the packing came out and I immediately went back to the office, where a different surgical assistant packed the area gently. I was amazed in the difference between the two assistants. The second assistant was empathetic with the amount of pain I must have been in over the weekend. It was very nice to have someone give some comfort to such a painful issue. Later that day I called Dr. Feldmans office to speak with the Doctor personally about the first assistant. I elaborated on my experience and his response was that he would speak to this particular surgical assistant. However, when I went in the next day to have him look at the dry socket personally, he explained to me that anyone could have packed it, and it would have been equally painful. This made me feel like he was invalidating my feelings by justifying his surgical assistants behavior the previous morning. He clearly did not understand that my problem with his surgical assistant was not pain related, but instead was affiliated with the fact that her bedside manner was like that of Beelzebub. People like her should not be working directly with patients. Clearly she is burnt out, or perhaps she hates her job. Regardless, she should understand that treating patients is a job requiring ability to not only treat but to also empathize with people in incredible pain. read more

My husband had his wisdom teeth extracted there. We did all the due diligence of calling our insurance which said it was covered 100%. Dr. Feldman's office also checked with our insurance and sent us an estimate that agreed the surgery was covered 100%. While the surgery went well, it was a surprise to get a bill for one tooth that they had decided they would extract differently causing it to cost us money. I called the women who ran the billing to question the surprise bill. When I had her go through all of the billing and insurance reduction, she became rude and abrupt when I had questions. Her lack of professionalism was very disappointing. At one point, she became so rude I almost hung up. While typically a good dental office will write-off the amount when they inaccurately quote you and mislead you into thinking it is 100% covered, we were stuck paying the bill. read more

I was referred to Dr Feldman by a family friend and doctor in Seattle for my wisdom teeth extraction. From the moment I walked in until I left, i was treated with kindness and courtesy. The quality and celerity at which they worked on me and helped me through my recovery was wonderful and I could not ask for more. I wanted to write about my experience with Dr Feldman and his office. I almost did not go based on the reviews I saw, but my dentist said he was the best in the city. My daughter had circumstances I was concerned about which he quickly dealt with and alleviated. I found the office inviting and nice, the staff was great as there was a accident right before our exit so we were quite late. The surgery went extremely well and the Dr made a point to meet me, calm any concerns and the nurse spent time with us on what to expect. Our experience was great and so I felt compelled to share it. read more

I agreed with Johnny 7/15/2010 and Terri 4/3/2009 reviews, so I am a third unhappy patient with the office staffs!!!!! I was referred to this office from my dentist, and I was so disappointed. I told my dentist not to refer his patients to Dr Feldman's. The office staff (Lisa & Christine) are very RUDE and unprofessional. They charged me twice on the xray, even though I had an xray provided to them by my dentist before the operation and they said that they will not charge me but they did; and they don't send the preauthorization to my insurance for over 3 months before my appointment started. Left messages to have Christine to call me back, but no calls from the office. read more

I will say that I was satisfied with the quality of Dr. Feldman's work. That being said, beware that this guy is a PRICK and his staff is no better. At 16 years of age (I'm 21 now) I went to him to have part one of my implant surgery, along with some grafting. I had assumed I would be given gas or an IV due to the invasiveness of the procedure (implants require a screw to be screwed into the bone and I was having two put in) and was shocked to be given only a local anesthetic. I asked for gas or something more and was told there wasn't time. I was assured that the local would be enough to manage the pain. I wasn't too worried because I have quite a high pain threshold (enough to impress a number of ER docs throughout a long career as a gymnast...) Anyways, the moment the screw made contact with my bone I nearly screamed. I felt everything and was sweating, crying, and shaking. I told Dr. Feldman to stop because it was too painful. He laughed at me. No joke. He mocked me and called me "an embarrassment." His aid took pity on me and whiped me tears while he continued to drill away and I cried my eyes out. Afterwards, my Dad came back to the recovery room (I was 16 and required a parent there.) He saw I was crying and asked why. When I told him he demanded to speak with Dr. Feldman. He was told he was already in another surgery and wouldn't see him. We nearly filed a law suit but didn't go through with it because it would only have come from his liability and not his pocket. So I'm writing this instead. read more

I had made an appointment to get my wisdom teeth removed only to find that the woman who was handling my insurance (Ginny) was a total nightmare. She had left a voice mail on my cell phone telling me that I had no 'insurance', two minutes before my insurance office closed, the day before my procedure. The next morning, I was scrambling to find out what happened, calling my insurance and dental plans, confirming that my insurance was active and applicable to this procedure. I literally had to hold Ginny's hand through the conversation with my insurance company. She didn't know what anything meant and was just obsessed with the fact that she didn't 'have the information'. After the insurance company said they would fax over the information to Dr. Feldman's office, Ginny and Christina both still claim that there was 'no insurance information'. It's really sad that these two women in the office hate their jobs so much that they need a patient to walk them through what they are paid to do. It's even more pathetic when the staff starts telling you that they 'don't understand' who to call for confirmation. I feel terrible for Dr. Feldman. it's a shame that such a kind, educated and patient medical professional has to have two lazy and under-educated slobs for employees. (By the way, I created this Yelp account just to write this down. It's a terrible feeling to know that someone could be such a total professional nightmare and still have their job at the end of the day) You suck Ginny! read more

Gary Feldman may be a fine oral surgeon but his front office staff (especially Lisa) need some training in community relations. I worked for almost 20 years in the dental field and have never been treated so poorly. My ex scheduled the appointment and was responsible for the payment. Since that had not been taken care of by Gary's office and the ex, Lisa was downright rude to me about ME having to pay or they would not see my son. This after he had already been on heavy drugs for an hour. The appointment had been made a month ago and you would think that would have all been handled. I spent several minutes trying to get through to the ex and the step on the phone. Finally was successful. Then asked if I could have a cup of coffee. SAY WHAT???? Apparently they are not a 'restaurant'. I have never worked in a dental office that did not have tea, coffee, juice and more for patients and their families. And, if I wanted coffee, I needed to go to Starbuck's on the main floor (sorry, I never do Starbuck's!) and RUN back so I was in the office the entire time my son was in treatment. About wet my pants I was so afraid later to use the restroom. Finally decided, "Let that little twit try to tell me I can't" and away I went. She had the nerve to glare at me when I returned. Be still my heart! To top it all off, I had to park in the Nordstrom Tower which charges for parking more than some folks make in an hour and they do not validate parking. Sheez! Charged more than $3000 for a 10 minute procedure and can't pay for parking? I will be telling everyone at our high school to steer very clear of this office. On the bright side, his nurse/assistant Beverly is a doll, very compassionate and kind. I liked her a lot! read more

I must agree with the other reviews posted to this site, specifically in relation to the office staff. I scheduled my wisdom teeth extraction six months before the surgery was set to occur and provided my father's business address as the "responsible party" to whom the bill should be sent (I am 23 years old). I received a copy of the bill eventually at my home address at which point I called the office to correct the error. They said they would handle it. I arrived at the appointment and the receptionist immediately told me that the full amount, at which point I explained that I had already provided a business address for the bill to be sent to. She repeated that the payment was due (ten minutes before I was scheduled to begin my surgery...not an appropriate time to bring up a financial issue to the patient.) So I paid the amount myself in hopes of saving some sort of relaxation and serenity before my surgery. I sat down, thinking that my payment would be the end of the discussion, but she called me up to the front desk again to "explain to me what happened." She rudely maintained that they had indeed sent the bill to my dad's office (despite the fact that he never received it) and then proceeded to explain to me that as a 23 year old I am legally obligated to pay for my own surgery and not my father, therefore I am the responsible party. Setting aside the blatant contradiction in her statements (either they sent the bill to my father or they didn't because I am the "legally responsible party", but they certainly didn't adhere to both such policies) and her rude tone, I explained that their patient intake forms specifically have an entire section wherein one can indicate who the "responsible party" will be, and provide their mailing address, without any indication that this section of the form is used only for their patients under the age of 18. She then repeated that I am the legally responsible party. I told her that I am fully aware of my legal obligation and that by filling out the form, I was attempting to fulfill that obligation by directing the bill to be sent to my father's address, who had generously offered to pay my medical expenses. I also said that while the law does hold me ultimately responsible for paying whatever medical balance is owed, in practice many parents continue to pay the co-pays of their children's medically necessary procedures, up until a certain point AND that the law she so righteously touts requires a parent's medical insurance to extend coverage to their dependents until the age of 26. She then responded by saying that "any 40 year old could come in and write their mommy's address on the form," at which point I threw my hands up in the air and said "It's fine," if only as an attempt to salvage my sanity before the surgery. I was appalled by her need to summon me back to the front desk to lecture me on my legal obligations AFTER I had already paid the bill myself. She was absolutely rude and highly unprofessional, especially considering the fact that I was just about to undergo surgery in the following ten minutes and she made no effort whatsoever to comfort me as the patient. The surgery went well and I have had no problems, but the manner in which the office staff comported themselves was so upsetting that I would not recommend dealing with this practice until they can understand that bedside manner is inclusive of the entire experience on the day of surgery and that it might not be advisable to antagonize the patients as they walk in the door. read more

Dr. Feldman did a good job extracting my husband's wisdom teeth, however I found his office staff to be unprofessional and disorganized. Prior to scheduling surgery, we asked for an estimate of how much the extraction would cost. The staff worker had said they would call our insurance and figure out the total cost for 1 tooth, 2 teeth or all 4. They mailed us the three separate estimates, and the overall cost for removing all 4 teeth seemed within our price range. At the date of service we paid a copay that was the entire fee that had been mailed to us. However, a few weeks later I received a bill in the mail asking for an extra $500. This was not what we had agreed to, so I called the office and spoke with the billing office. After having a conversation with the employee who worked there, it was not clear how they had arrived at the 3 separate estimates because they had failed to contact our medical insurance, and only our dental which has an annual cap of $1000. I asked the employee there to please submit a claim to our medical, and she told me that she could almost guarantee to me that my insurance would not cover the surgery. While in the end she was correct, I had to phone my insurance company a few times, be put on hold and also phone Dr. Feldman's office and talk to billing a few times to clear the issue. Had we known that the surgery was going to cost us out of pocket as much as it did, we would have had just the infected tooth extracted. I am extremely disappointed in the way the billing handled this, first the estimate was completely misleading - we ended up paying almost double! And second of all, I had to chase my insurance and their billing employees in order to make sure our medical indeed would not provide any coverage. I would definitely not recommend this office to a friend, although the doctor seemed very skilled. The headache of dealing with all the billing hassle was not worth it! read more

I went to Dr. Feldman for an implant procedure on a molar that had been undergoing internal resorption for years and finally just needed to be removed. There were not many oral surgeons in the area who accepted Concordia active duty insurance and I really did not want to have to drive all the way down to Madigan for this procedure. The extraction was quite complicated as the root had anastamosed to the mandible. I went with local anesthesia since I had to drive myself and also since the taxpayers pay for my heath care I try to keep expenses as low as possible. He did a terrific job and I was also happy, as a preceptor in my own profession, to see that he had a dental student observe the extraction. My follow up appointments went very smoothly as the bone graft filled in exactly as it was supposed to, and the implant was put in as scheduled. I would definitely recommend Dr. Feldman for any complex extractions and implant surgery. read more

I was referred to Dr. Feldman by my dentist. He might be a great oral surgeon but his office staff is sometimes very unprofessional. I had one estimate drawn up for me a couple of months before my surgery. About two weeks before my surgery I had called to request for a new one, and they weren't very happy about that. They asked whether I had lost it...who cares? I am the patient and I want an updated estimate. Then the new estimate was $68.00 more than the first one. So I called Feldman's office to clear up the discrepency. They couldn't figure out why the second estimated increased, so they said that they were going to charge me based on the first estimate. So, is that all? NO! On the day of the surgery, I noticed that they had charged me $20.00 more for the anesthesia than the first estimate. So I told the receptionist about THIS discrepency on the day of the surgery and they consequently reduced my total bill by $ 20.00. I also think they may have double charged for the oral consultation too! My insurance had already paid for the oral consultation, but my total bill was not reduced accordingly. Oh, by the way, the staff will "teach" you how to care for your mouth after the surgery, when you are still coming out from anesthesia and thinking that there are merry-go-rounds in the office. Bottom-line: Dr. Feldman is very well respected amongst his peers, but his office staff will make you want to scream! read more

I'm a person with high standards, especially when it concerns healthcare. I'm also 60 years old and have been around the block more than once. Two weeks ago I had four fully erupted healthy wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Feldman in preparation for orthodontia. I have had a total of about three weeks' interaction with his office and the entire experience has been stellar. No pain whatsoever during the procedure. I did have significant pain beginning a few days following the procedure which has lasted longer than would with a younger patient. Each time I called, the surgical assistant, Alison, was responsive, patient, and reassuring.
