Just know.. you have to wait by your phone allll day because if you miss the call the day before your appointment, that you've probably been waiting months for by the way, they cancel it and you're left with a mouth of pain and increased anger because they aren't very helpful to get you rescheduled after they gave your appointment away. If you have an open schedule and no other priorities or an assistant to take your calls, then I would still not recommend trying to get "squeezed" in there. "squeezed" being their terminology. I'm too traumatized to go back to get them removed again. They don't care about their patients at all. I was left with no meds no antibiotics, no pain meds. Just got back from having one of my teeth pulled. The last tooth I had pulled was when I was 16 (I'm now 57), and it was one of the most agonizing experiences of my life...so I went in this morning with a lot of trepidation...the staff was very understanding and gracious. I went in for lower extractions and the dentist ( Xingtian xu) I had was very rude and unprofessional. I screamed because he poked me with the needle and was digging it around and he told me not to scream because he had other patience. He worked to fast and didn't listen to my concerns. He grinded down my jaw bone and and that is the worst pain ever. Never go back to that place. He should have his license revoked! I wasn't numbed up with gel first! The dental rooms were spacious, and clean. The lobby was not crowded which was nice, lots of seating. The front desk staff was friendly. Newer 360 X-ray equipment, made for a pain free X-ray. I went in for an extraction of a broken molar. It was causing me severe pain, exposed nerve for two month. The dental assistant listened to all of my complaints and concerns. She made me feel at ease despite my severe past dental trauma. I stressed that it takes more local anesthesia than the average person to numb me up. The assistant and Dentist took that into consideration. I was given one shot to numb, then waited several minutes to receive another shot, followed by more waiting, then one last shot. By the time the Dentist came I wasn't sure I could open my mouth it was so numb. Thank goodness for the efficient numbing of the Doctor. I think the longest part of this visit was the numbing but worth the wait to not feel any pain. X-ray showed my broken Molar was fused to my jaw bone, and would need extra drilling into the bone. This terrified me, but I was reassured it will be no problem. Well there was little pressure and a little pulling in my Jaw, but no bad pain. Them bam the tooth was out so fast I wasn't sure he had even really started the extraction or if he was just loosening the tooth from the bone. I did use nitrous oxide gas and that helped too. So if you want to get an extraction I do recommend this office. I'd definitely go back!! They were painless(a couple needle pokes), friendly, efficient, fast, and friendly. LETTER TO GOOD DENTIST. So. I need a top denture and a bottom partial; I've been trying for two years to get this work done from a dentist that was referred to a friend. We're not friends anymore;-)....long story short, he tried to sell me on complete dentures that were unnecessary. I heard him doing the whole spiel with a patient; I smell a "denture rat", he pulled out all of my remaining upper teeth and was about to pull the bottoms when I realised something was very wrong. I literally left the dentist's chair mid pull and RAN out the door. Pretty sure there is some Medicaid insurance fraud going on there, I just wrote all that so you can see how I was fu**** over by this unethical dentist.....he said it would be $2000 to for the partial.. I could go on... SO....I am so sick of trying to find someone who accepts my insurance,,,.so I went to Seattle Indian Health Board to see if they could help. And they did!! Do!!!!! A nice lady gave me your flyer and a list of other dentists ...the majority of which no longer deal with Medicare rendering the list useless. So. Nice Lady said "Call this office first, just for kicks, and I did; I can't express strongly enough how amazing my experience is and has been thus far with your office. I called them [you] and...THEY TAKE MY INSURANCE!!!!!!! I was welcomed with open arms...you have a staff that clearly like going to work...there was some banter between the dentists and assistants; to me that's a sign of the familial nature of your employees....happy staff....happy patient. I had an absolutely terrifying and horrible experience at the UW oral surgery deptb2-3 years ago. They didn't give me nitrioua oxide and the novacaine wasn't working. I told them that. As the were doing the extractions, I was in so much pain that I was literally pushing myself up off the seat. They never even slowed down. When I was down I was in real medical shock. It was awful! I took that experience in to Apole Valley/Afforrdable today. I considered strongly cancelling, but I have an infection causing a great deal of pain. As soon as I went in, I explained my last experience was horrific and I was nervous. Zero stars and DO NOT recommend. My son had his 4 wisdom teeth removed, 2 of which were impacted. They said he'd need to go over to UW because of the risk. When he went back inside to ask more questions about that, they went ahead and took him back. The girl numbed him up proceeded to drill out and remove them all within the 5 minutes. They sent him with no antibiotics or discharge instructions. We have been trying to reach someone since Thursday (it's Sunday now), we've left several messages on the emergency number. We're now sitting at the ER, he has a severe infection, dry socket, and is dehydrated. I wanted to write this review after reading other reviews and proceeding with having a few teeth removed at Affordable Oral Surgery. For my own experience it was excellent and I would recommend this dental office to others. The area is a little sketchy (homeless sheltering in front of the building) and the reviews were bad so I was nervous. But the doctor that extracted my teeth was excellent and all of the other staff I encountered were very nice to me. They answered any questions I had and confirmed that they could do laughing gas in addition to the numbing medication for my anxiety. The staff was initially concerned that my orthodontist already put the braces on before having my teeth removed which I guess is not standard but they were able to proceed with the extractions with my braces on, which is impressive to me. The procedure was a little nerve racking but only due to me being awake for the duration. The doctor preforming the surgery let me know what he was doing each step of the way and was very quick! He even put the metal wire for my braces back into the brackets after noticing they had popped out. The dental assistant also reapplied lip ointment throughout the procedure to keep my lips from drying out. They sent me home with an information sheet and a plastic syringe to flush out the sockets with warm salt water as recommended. They also put in a prescription for medicated mouth wash, and two pain killers. I followed after care instructions to a T and didn't have any issues! And after the initial day of surgery the pain medication was not needed. I'm super impressed so I'm not sure if the previous bad reviews are from poor aftercare on the patients part or if the staff have changed policies and behaviors but I didn't experience one issue. After care is super important, asking questions is super important and it is standard at almost any medical office will cancel your appointment if you are 5-15min late. It's been about a month or two since surgery and my mouth is healing wonderfully. I hope this helps anyone else who is apprehensive about coming here but have no other choice due to their insurance! read more

Update--I've had no permanent damage that gets in the way of my daily life! A couple of very minor things that I hardly think about (or have easily accepted), like a small painless bone spur and some very mild sensitivity on one of the extraction sites... but nothing serious (especially after being so concerned about permanent nerve pain)! So, while I still wish my follow up appointment was with a dentist, everything seems to have worked out in the end. I just got my wisdom teeth out today. It was really great, for as good as getting wisdom taken out gets. I was looking for a place that takes Apple Health and could schedule me over winter break. These guys did a great job getting me an appointment ASAP and then called back later to offer me an appointment even sooner. The oral surgeon was really experienced and the dental hygienists did a great job numbing me up and getting me ready. They were running a little bit behind (about 45 min) but got me into the back to get me numbed up before it was "my turn" Waiting area had X-Box games and a play area. My name is, Cory Ogard, a once proud bearer of 8 wisdom teeth. No, that is not a typo. I'm 31 years old, and am STILL in great health thanks to Bryan, Saul, Osama, Spencer, Devotia, and the rest of the staff at, Apple Valley Dental and Braces. My case was very unique in that I had been blessed with all these extra teeth I had no room for, on top of the fact that I was the highest risk for permanent nerve damage, Bryan had ever seen. Because I had waited so long to get my teeth pulled, the extra molars were very deeply rooted in my jaw bone, enabling serious infection to set in, and deterioration of the jaw bone itself. So, not only was I a high risk for nerve damage, but it was also very possible that my jaw could be broken during the procedure. Taking a huge leap of faith, I decided to let the doctors do what they do best, and the procedure went off without a hitch. Not only did I leave with my jaw fully in tact and in one peace, but I left with absolutely no nerve damage, which due to my situation, was nothing short of a miracle. Sometimes, God, being as good as he is, decides to take procedures like these in his own hands, and sometimes, he puts his faith in the hands of amazing people in the medical field, as he did for me. There is a severe lack of communication in this clinic. Due to this I had to have a long conversation with my dentist due to a medication I was told was ok to take then the dentist said it was dangerous because of the nitrous gas. None of this was said over the phone when I called them this morning then when it came down to my procedure actually getting done, well they ran out of damn time!!!!!!!! I was basically told to reschedule all because my hour was up even though they made a mistake and had to discuss it with me!!!!! Lack of communication, not enough scheduled time with a patient completely unacceptable. I understand they had other patients but if they made a mistake due to lack of communication why should I be the one to reschedule? No type of customer service whatsoever. They are not ORAL SURGEONS do not let them fool you with their misleading name and do not let them take out your wisdom teeth! They are not anywhere near the skill level as an actual oral surgeon nor do they have the technology to see exactly where your nerve is located and could permanently damage your nerves and face! This practice is very inviting because there is a kids play area which includes a few xbox consoles and a constant movie being played. However, the dentist seemed to get offended when we asked questions or for alternative treatment options. He also strongly suggested that our child be given metal fillings because our insurance would not cover the natural white fillings. The dentist said that we could also pay out of pocket, or in cash. Both of us have a medical background and knew that this was incorrect. We took our daughter to another dentist and they were able to fill our daughter's cavities with the white fillings with no problem from insurance. They also accused us of being negligent in refusing metal fillings for our child and they cancelled our appointment. I am so glad that we found a different dental practice that is ethical. This place is just out to scam Medicaid. The first visit, we waited over one hour to be seen despite having an appointment. They finally told us that there was an emergency that they needed to attend to but I would have appreciated the notice as I had to reschedule another important medical appointment. read more

Went in with my wife for a consultation for braces. We had a very nice experience. Everyone seemed really nice. We had our 1 year old child with us and all the staff was very friendly and receptive to our kid being there. The play area and large TV showing kids movies was a bonus we didn't expect as well. If you don't like the idea of putting your child to sleep don't bring them here. My son has a few cavities and they refused to listen to my concerns about using GA. They also apparently have only one day a week they do fillings and of course it's a day I work 10+ hours. When I said I was changing dentist they said they would report me to CPS for not doing the treatment. read more
