Recently got hearing aids from Feldman ENT Group through their affiliated Feldman Hearing Studio. Let me be clear. I did not want hearing aids, was really unhappy about needing them and it took me TWO years from initial diagnosis to finally accept the fact that I had to give it a try. In addition, I am in my early 50s and HATED the fact that I was in this position so early in my life given the kind of hearing loss I was experiencing (natural/genetic). Thanks Dad! So...I was 100% predisposed to hating everyone and everything associated with this. But surprise, surprise...every single person at Feldman treated me with absolute kindness, patience and care from the wonderful lady who did my initial tests over that two year period, Dr. Mesick whose direct, honest and no-pressure counsel helped ease me into acceptance, the front desk staff who have been totally accommodating and on point to my wonderful, expert audiologists, Lisa and Rachel, who guided me to the right type of hearing aid, multiple custom fittings, adjustments and fine tunes that EVERY client needs due to the specific nature of individual hearing loss and your unique ear structure. All that, while taking the time to answer every question and even provide excellent advice re: my insurance. In short, they have ALL been readily available and responsive to my schedule and needs. Make no mistake, getting hearing aids is expensive. Check insurance benefits BEFORE you buy! It is a real, lifestyle adjustment, which at times, can be frustrating, uncomfortable and hard to get used to from a physical and emotional POV. It can take months to get your hearings aids truly integrated into your life. BUT...once that happens, and it will, you begin to realize how much better off you are for taking the leap and committing to the process. Just like so many other hard things in life. Which brings me to this. I've seen folks trolling this practice and the caring professionals who work hard on our behalf there. IF you are one, take a deep breath and check your attitude at the door. If your experience at Feldman has been awful, especially with the hearing studio staff, I suspect it is because you are projecting your own fear, anxiety, negativity and personal unhappiness with your situation on to them. Lean into it, let them do their thing, embrace the process, work in partnership with the people working for you and I guarantee you will see them and this experience in a far better light and perhaps make peace with your disability in the same way I am trying to make peace with mine. Hope this helps! read more
