I had a great experience with this doctor's office. I was turned down by other ENT practices in the area trying to get an appointment for an ear issue on short notice, but this group was able to squeeze me in within 3 days. Stacey at the front desk was really helpful and patient trying to get resolution with an insurance issue when my insurance initially didn't register. I also had essentially no wait to be seen, and Dr. Maiberger was friendly, knowledgeable, and had a great bedside manner. Would recommend for anyone looking for an ENT practice. I am a fan of doctor Patrick Maiberger. I had this weird thing going on with my tonsils. The doctor and I went through every possible thing and test to make surgery my last resort (personal choice) and I had the surgery. He even gave me a personal call to make sure i was okay. Let me call him personally during my recovery while i was panicking. Great guy. Recently told to see a ENT to schedule surgery and all kinds of things due to my sleep issue. Doc gave me a call and told me to hold off visiting him because he knows it's a hike for me to see him and wait and see what the other results are. Great guy. read more

If you're into being blown off by an overbooked doctor and a staff that no longer cares about customer service, then this is the place for you! I won't bore you with my entire experience, but here are the highlights: 1. The doctor blew my condition off as something minor, requiring a second visit when things got worse. That extra co-pay sure was fun! 2. I scheduled a follow-up appointment with the staff, for a rather important visit to read CT scan results. When I showed up at the proper time, they insisted that I wrote down the wrong date. The problem with this is that I have OCD-level issues with scheduling; this means that I routinely double and triple check appointments. When I explained that I really needed to have the results checked out, as the CT scan people were concerned, they said they could see me in two weeks, then wanted to argue about whether or not the results were actually important. 3. When I came in for my follow-up, another patient came in and also received the "you messed up your appointment," lecture. He was confused, because he was very sure that his appointment was that day. The "surgical coordinator" came out and proceeded to argue with an old man recovering from throat surgery in front of me. For about 10 minutes. She shared enough medical and personal information that, by the end of the conversation, I knew his full name and the precise nature of his medical condition. NOT COOL. 4. Doctor insisted that I required surgery - it was the only answer. I ended up scheduling surgery, then spent 2.5 weeks trying to get a simple logistics question answered by the "surgical coordinator." I never got an answer. 5. Went to a different doctor, who was shocked that major surgery was the immediate response to the problem. It was solved with a simple course of the correct antibiotic required for my specific issue and steroids. If you're considering this office for your ENT needs, I'd think again. At the very least, I would highly recommend a second opinion if surgery is suggested to treat your condition. read more

Long story short.....well i'll try to make it short.........I had left my original doctor for poor communication and even poorer administrative confusion and found Dr. Picken thru some random website while searching.......i came across a page that had some pretty rave reviews......great bedside manner etc........so i made an appt. Upon meeting her i felt she was a professional....nice and knowledgeable......and seemed a great choice to perform my surgery for sleep apnea plus it would be at Georgetown Hosp which i preferred over Shady Grove Adventist........i was having 5 procedures in total. Tonsillectomy/Uvula removed and Deviated Septum with reduction of turbenoids fairly basic surgery for ENT's Well.....i had a window of time that i needed to have the surgery performed because of work................. these days with insurance companies when you are dealing with non emergency surgery......you (meaning doctor) needs to have competent staff in place to make sure that all loose ends are straightened out with insurance carriers. I was told that her surgical coordinator Carmen.....was a total genius/guru at handling that.......so i set up for the surgery with Dr. Picken. In the following days/weeks i was dealing with Carmen who had assured me she understood what they needed and would take care of everything....... This was not the case.......i rarely reached her when calling.........her voicemail was always full............when i did speak to her she barely knew what process/stage we were in with insurance approval.........after 2-3 weeks of lettering her deal with them........i finally get a call from the insurance company stating that they have only approved 2 out of the 5 procedures........granted the two they approved were the bulk of the work.......but still........every ENT will tell you which i know now....you want to have all of the procedures done at the same time..........LET IT BE KNOWN that after my first appt with Dr Picken not once did i EVER here from her again.........she doesn't even have an email address on her card...........when i did luckily catch Carmen or she did call me back.......when i would ask for the Dr. she always coincidentally JUST left for the day. I then agreed to have the 2 approved procedures completed and showed up at the hospital that Monday.........to my dismay....having not had surgery before I mistakenly drank a cup of coffee the morning of my surgery........when i got the call from the hospital maybe i wasn't paying attention to the exact directions but all i remember was no alcohol 48 hours prior and no food after 12am the night before. Either way.......because of that Dr. Pickens cancelled the surgery once she was notified by Anesthesiology......the interesting thing was everyone in the surgery ctr felt that it wouldn't be a huge problem they said that i may just have to wait a few hours for it to digest.......however, Dr Picken just cancelled it.........she never came in to see me or talk to me......even that day........and here's the kicker......i STILL have not heard from the office staff or the DR to this day...............not one phone call......... Now in no way am i blaming the dr for me drinking coffee......but it actually turned out to be an omen.......a good one.........i went back online and found more reviews even on YELP for Washington ENT.........apparently the communication level of Dr. Pickens office is worst EVER....there is none basically........she is completely dis-associated with what is going on in the administrative part of her practice.......she has an incompetent staff and she does zero follow up or heads up for patients...........THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.........My first instinct is....."HEY she doesn't care about people she is all about the money" but its not even that........its really that SHE doesn't care........ In the end......i found a new doctor with a staff i love..........turns out this doctor did his due diligence.....actually did a thorough exam of me........and recommended a CAT scan as proof of the deviated septum which is all they (insurance co.) had originally been requesting.....to WHICH DR. PICKEN never thought of...nor did her so called Genius surgical coordinator who every time i spoke to her all she would say is "I don't know why they aren't approving it....why don't you call them" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?...I personally feel Dr Picken has no clue what is happening on the business side of HER business........ Now my entire surgery is approved.......i had to push it forward to March........i love the staff of this new Doc.......and the doctor just makes me feel soo much more comfortable..........thank god i found him.......to think i was gonna have to go under TWICE for a procedure that should only be done all at once....... My suggestion......steer clear of this office and Dr.......she is asleep at the wheel.... read more

Uh I'd give this place 0 stars, but yelp won't let me. Simply put, just do not come here. I decided to visit Dr. Picken after finding her close to my job and on Washingtonians top doctors list. The people at the front desk are not friendly AT ALL. What are they doing working in the service industry if they can't even be pleasant to their patients. I was told I would have to be self-pay due to some pre-existing clause in my insurance plan. The insurance eventually paid for my visit, but then the doctors office took forever to refund my money. I think they were hoping I would forget so they could pocket the money. Anyway, Dr. Picken, wasn't as bad as the front desk people, but her bedside manner could use some work. She didn't seem too amused during my visit. Oh well, will not be coming back here. read more

It is really tough to find a great doctor who is also a great surgeon. Look no further, Dr. Musy is your man! I really liked his demeanor prior to surgery. He was to the point and made me feel assured I made the correct decision to get surgery. I had septoplasty on 1 May because I couldn't breathe out of one of my nostrils. I had my nose splints out 5 days after the surgery and was able to breathe normally since. Today, I went for my 2nd post-op. My breathing and nose are perfect thanks to Dr. Musy. read more

x1,000 on the messed-up billing and office administration. I had an appointment with Picken and with the audiologist back in January 2017. I paid my co-pays in the office and asked if there would be additional charges, because I like to use my FSA card and get a receipt. Some months later, I see that CareFirst has posted several EOBs, all of which are repeated attempts by ENT group to get money for the same thing. I go in and talk to someone in the office who seemed reasonable. She said "huh that is strange" and says she'll take care of it. Another few months pass. I'm in my office, and I get a call out of the blue from a very confused and belligerent woman who says that I owe "500 dollars" out of pocket for the auditory screening. I said, "uh, no, you have tried repeatedly to get more and more money out of CareFirst, I can see that!" She tried arguing, and I told her I had to get back to work. Who authorized her calling to harass me when I had NEVER received any bill from them?! So I subsequently hear nothing more. Until now. October 2017, I get my first bill from ENT and it's for $17.92 and says it is a FINAL NOTICE. Now it's too late for me to use FSA funds. This office S_U_X. read more

I saw Dr. Catherine who is supposed to be one of the top doctors in DC according to many reviews. Although my experience while there was fine, I've called their office every day for the last five days to get my lab results and she still hasn't called me back. Their customer service is absolutely non-existent and I will never ever see them again. I wish there was a negative star. They would be the most deserving group. read more

Dr. Picken was professional, but the office is poorly run. They overcharged me, I resolved the issue, and then they overcharged me again for the same previously billed item. Despite my protest, they sent me to collections, which caused further problems in resolving this issue. I attempted to speak with Dr. Picken about this issue, but she never returned my phone calls, despite the staff promising me that she would. I continue to regret going to Washington ENT group for my sinus problems. There are far better ENT's in the Washington-Metro Area. I would just save yourself the hassle and use one with a smarter, more courteous frontline and accounting staff. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Musy this morning. Someone recently complained that he was "cold," and I could not disagree more. Dr. Musy was thorough in his exam and great at carefully explaining his treatment plan, the possible causes of my symptoms, and appropriate follow-up measures. He's not for someone who requires a lot of hand-holding and coddling, but if you're looking for clear, not-sugar-coated medical advice, he's a great specialist to see. The practice loses a star for the sub-par receptionists, but Dr. Musy is a five-star doctor in my book! read more

Let me first start by saying that I am active duty military. I did not care about cost only customer service since I was not paying. I selected Dr. Musy because his office was well run and he did not hurry me along. This is not a chop shop. Carmen the Surgical Coordinator followed me from cradle to grave with regards to surgery. Every appointment was confirmed by phone call from the office. Dr. Musy called me the very next day after surgery to follow up. I am completely satisfied with the service I received. As for cost/billing...I have no idea since again I did not pay for anything. read more

I'm being treated by Dr. Picken for Stage IV throat cancer (currently in remission for 1.5 years). She has been a godsend. She is a true maven in her field. Her knowledge is vast. Her demeanor is fantastic. Her professionalism is exemplary. Although she isn't covered under my Kaiser health plan, I chose to go to her out of my own pocket. It is money very well spent. My Kaiser ENT knows her from back in Georgetown days and told me that she was outstanding after he found that I'm going to her too. I booked my appointment through zocdoc. Big plus. I could see for available appointments. I was able to book an appointment for the same day. Bigger plus. Went there for stuffed ear, got in quick, checked out neck/throat/nose too. Got my ear cleaned. Out in 30 mins. Place has a parking too. Another plus. If you see reviews talking about cold attitude, I can tell you that you will not get a lollipop. Maybe you should grow up and start seeing doctors for adults read more

I was treated by Catherine Pickens 7 years ago for sinus troubles and loved her; I referred my mom to her and she also loved her. I'm not sure her office staff is as efficient as it was back then. I've recently developed an unresolving ear infection issue and called Dr. Pickens office for an appointment. I couldn't get an appointment with one of Dr. Pickens' associates for a week. Fearing my ear drum would rupture before then I found another doctor that could see me within 24 hours and my perforated ear drum was treated by them. I called Washington ENT as soon as I made the appointment with the other doctor's office to cancel my appointment. I waited in cue for 15 minutes before I decided to leave a voice mail canceling my appointment. I then followed up by sending an email to cancel my appointment just 45 minutes after I made the appointment with Washington ENT. I was out of my office the day before my appointment at Washington ENT. When I returned to my office I had a voicemail from Washington ENT confirming my appointment which I had canceled twice previously - once by voicemail and once by email. I immediately called Washington ENT at 9:05 AM to make sure they received my voicemail and my email canceling my appointment. Again, I was caught up in their digital telephone loop for several minutes before I opted to dial "0" and leave a message canceling my 10:15 AM appointment. At 10:32 AM I received a message from Washington ENT saying I missed my appointment and they needed to know where I am. I called right back and advised the receptionist that I had left two voicemails canceling my appointment and she replied "we're having problems with our answering machine." I advised her that I sent an email too and apparently no one is reviewing their emails and she replied that she would check into that. I definitely don't think Dr. Pickens' staff is as good as it once was. Maybe it just depends who you talk to or what day of the week it is. Obviously they don't check their voicemails and/or emails on a regular basis. UPDATE: Car*** from Dr. Pickens office called me at 3:45 today saying she just heard my first voicemail message which Ieft on January 5th canceling my 10:30 appointment for this morning. She still had not heard my second message or read my email. Unacceptable!!!! read more

I had to write this review to counter the one star from the other reviewer since there's so much more to a medical practice than any billing issue. Dr. Picken is great. She did sinus surgery on me a few years ago and it was relatively easy and successful. She's a great doctor - very thoughtful and listens well. She uses HIT extensively in the practice which is great for quality and recordkeeping. I haven't had any issues with the office staff - they have been sufficiently responsive and helpful for me. Better than other doctor's offices, that's for sure. But what matters most in a doctor's visit is the quality of medical care you receive, and Dr. Picken delivers. My experience here was great. The office is conveniently located to metro and bus lines. The front office staff were friendly and worked with my schedule to book an appointment quickly. Dr. Musy was friendly, informative, and had a great bedside manner. I had a rare issue, and he was intrigued and genuinely was concerned and wanted to help me find answers. After our appointment he said he would get back to me within the week, but was busy and if I didn't hear anything to call him back a week later. He then proceeded to call me within the hour with updates on the research he had already started! He continued to check in and provide prompt follow up. I'd highly recommend him. read more

Was a bit shocked by the one star review so I went through the trouble of signing up to post this. Washington ENT is the finest group of doctors I have ever dealt with. Consistently in Washingtonian's Best, the entire practice group is beyond top notch. I credit Dr. Catherine Picken with saving my life after she diagnosed a salivary gland tumor and successfully removed it. When I was having trouble with my larynx, she scoped me right there in the office. I have referred at least 4 people there - all have the same opinion. Consider them the best for anything from the shoulders, up. And when they don't know - which is rare - their referrals have been to similarly fine physicians. read more

Dr. Musy is, quite frankly, the coldest physician with whom I've ever dealt. I had severe ear pain (so bad that I was already on Percocet) and he treated me for swimmer's ear. This all after he told me that I had no symptoms of swimmer's ear. I hope the Rx helps, I really do. But I won't be shocked if I have to go to someone else. My father is a doctor, my uncles are doctors, my sister is severely handicapped, and I've had brain surgery...so I've dealt with a TON of doctors in my day. He is, by far, the worst. (I should definitely say that their audiologist is awesome, as is the rest of the staff...very friendly.) read more

My experience was far from satisfactory with both DC Audiology and Washington ENT group. The paperwork they have you sign is inconsistent with typical paperwork and has many different and even conflicting fees they impose if they perceive any pmt issues. I edited the documents to make them more standard and with realistic fees and added a fee if they fail to refund any prepayments that were charged in error. I wonder if they will ever give me those fees as my insurance paid at 100 percent and they have withheld the prepayments I made for months. Even after I contacted them numerous times over months, they have a list of standard excuses for their office mistakes but still fail to refund all the funds charged at office visit. Have had to file a dispute with the credit card company and contact my insurance company to force them to refund the money. We are still waiting for that. The audiology room was small, cluttered and not clean. Lots of children's toys but no hand sanitizer or wipes anywhere to keep the office and equipment shared between patients clean. I will not be returning. The doc visit was okay but not thorough. Never looked in mouth or nose despite discussion about multiple chronic nasal symptoms. I've had to see a different ENT making this visit a waste of time and money as well as adding stress and frustration with the ineptitude of the office billing staff. read more
