Many thanks to the kind owner who graciously gave us a tour on Saturday (when they don't normally do tours) after our flight was super delayed and we couldn't make our Thursday tour we had scheduled online. It was probably one of the best distillery tours I've been on, he was so knowledgeable about spirits in general, you could tell he was passionate about making a quality whiskey. Not only did he talk extensively on whiskey, but all other spirits - vodka, gin, tequila, bourbon v. rye v. irish v. blended whiskey. Why we can't call something "tequila" in the U.S. because it isn't made in Mexico. It was more of a insightful tour of spirits and then talked about his specific distillery. You can tell how much he cares. The spirit tasting at the end was also insightful - taught us how to smell the whiskey, from top to bottom and how it smells different. Compared the un-barreled to the barreled whiskey, it was just a great distillery tour. Thank you! The tasting room is small, and the location is relatively out of the way of most things, but the bartender was very kind and showed us the MANY menus. If there is a piece of advice I'd give, it's condense your menus so it's not so overwhelming. I was also surprised that such a purist has so many sweet drinks on their menu - pudding, girl scout pairings, etc. Maybe just for Easter and holidays? Give this place a try, much better than NOCO distillery. read more

The hubs and I came up to visit friends in FoCo and see our old stomping grounds. This distillery is new since we lived in the area so we jumped at the chance to give it a whirl. I thought I had progressed taste bud wise to a whiskey tasting but as it turns out my cool factor isn't there yet. Instead I settled on a whiskey cocktail that was quite delicious. I had wanted a Kentucky mule but they were out of ginger beer which was a shame so I went for a whiskey sour. Their cocktail was a winter version with some spiced simple syrup that while tasty, I would have preferred to not have the cinnamon notes. I ended up passing my flight over to the hubs and our friend and they were most happy indeed. The staff was really nice and definitely into their craft. read more

Fantastic. Such a wonderful experience. Four of us wandered in on the Thursday before the New Year and received such an awesome welcome (thank you Chad!). We were taken on a journey of discovery regarding the many fabulous selections the Feisty folks have distilled with great caring and knowledge. I thought I knew my way around whiskeys -- but I learned a lot. We did several whisky flights, the popcorn pairing (which shouldn't be missed !!!), brandy and schnapps (another must try). Goodness ... I am glad we had a d-driver because we were warm and glowing when we left !!!! We also filled up a couple of bags with purchases for ourselves, friends and family. I literally work everyday about 1/4 mile away and can't believe I hadn't stopped in before today- I will visit again soon (and often thereafter!) read more

This was my first time coming to Feisty Spirits and my first time trying their whiskeys. I am a huge whiskey fan of all types and I was anxious to try what they had to offer. I came in on a Saturday evening and found a parking spot right in front, with plenty of available parking. The space inside is fairly small with about three tables and maybe 6-7 seats at the bar. When I walked in there were four other people there and I sat at a table to wait for my son. I expected to have to tell them I was waiting, but the man behind the bar didn't seem to care that I was there for about 10 minutes. He was very friendly with a coworker who came in after me and they had a conversation about how to get out of getting arrested for a DUI when you've had too much to drink and get stopped by the cops on your way home...classy. He had several tips to share that he learned from his attorney after his recent DWAI arrest. I guess that's the type of place this is. Anyway, I was eventually asked if I needed help and we ordered two flights of whiskey. The Better Days bourbon was very good and was my favorite of the varieties I tried. When the female bartender came back from a tour she was giving, she was super helpful and friendly. She came over to our table and talked with us about whiskey and went through a complimentary tasting with us. I think her name was Joan, but I'm not sure. We talked about whiskey for about 20 minutes and she was awesome! Quite frankly, until she came over I was pretty unimpressed with the service and I wouldn't have come back. I like that they use real Glencairn glasses when they serve and they have some nice merchandise available. Before we left, Joan told us to come back for a free tour of the place...if she is there, I would probably do it. read more

My friends and I just came in for a tasting and I have to say, Michael was AMAZING! We've been enjoying distilleries for years and this is one of our new favorites! Michael made our visit! Not to undercut the fabulosity of your spirits!!!! We can't wait to come back! Michael is great and your craft spirits are like a hug from the inside! Delish! Our flights were plentiful and the ambience was casual. Try the cranberry whiskey sour if you enjoy something light and refreshing. The alcohol content isn't so high that you can't enjoy it by itself or put a splash of it in any summer drink. There is a great swath of different flavors and types of whiskey that no matter what you like, you'll find something to love. read more

The service here is atrocious. They are very unprepared and the owners seem high or drunk or something and move at a snail's pace. They definitely need to hire more people and/or get more comfortable being mixologists. The liquor was sort of good...pretty boozy and not very smooth. Hands down, my best Living Social discovery ever. I bought a deal for a distillery tour & 8-spirit sampling, and lame as I sometimes am waited until the last minute to use it. According to the voucher rules I was supposed to have made a reservation for the tour (I didn't), so when I walked in I was already apologizing and asking if my friend and I could just do the tasting. However, the guy behind the bar (one of the owners) was pretty chill, said there was a tour that had just started so why don't we just go back and join them. Sweet. For the tasting, somehow I had the impression that we would be tasting their eight spirits rather than eight of their spirits, i.e. they have many more than 8 spirits. In fact, choosing which spirits to taste might be a bit overwhelming if it weren't for the fact that they are so willing to chat with you about your preferences and to help guide you through a tasting. Their offerings range from "friendlier" fruit-infused nectars and brandies to more challenging rye whiskeys and "elementals" -- spirits distilled from single grains such as quinoa, millet, and so forth. If you have a chance, make sure to sample the queen's share (the result of a 2nd distilling of the "head" and "tail") side-by-side with it's base spirit. The night I was there the Queen's share came from the blue corn bourbon, and it was really interesting to see how different flavor notes developed in the two spirits. I wouldn't have known about the queen's share had I not gone through the tour, and although now I've documented that gem in this review I'd encourage anyone with an appreciation for spirits to stop by for a tour and a tasting -- who knows what gems you might pick up? read more

This past Friday a friend and I started to work on visiting the distilleries on the Colorado Spirit Trail and our first stop was Feisty Spirits in Fort Collins. It is located in an out of the way area and was not sure what to expect but the bartender there was amazing and walked us through their spirits in a fun way that we really enjoyed. Don't come in here expecting a feisty bar or ordering vodka cranberry, this is merican handcraft whiskey at its finest. Only suggestion is to lower the price a bit because the .5 oz flight of 3 whiskeys cost $10 which is steep for 1 shot of alcohol. read more

So much fun! Must try. We went and got a cocktail and I did a girl scout cookie flight. It was so much fun they help you through with looking at the legs the meniscus, then going through smelling up and down, and then side ways. It was so much fun. I was skeptical but the smell and flavor really does change trust them! The staff was amazing! So friendly and knowledgeable. I've never left a Yelp review before in my life, but I borrowed my wife's account so I could. Feisty Spirits has some of the best whiskey I've ever had, along with some truly creative stuff (unlike Fireball or cheap flavored moonshine, which have shaken my faith in both frat boys and commercial distilling). However, it's their customer service that made them memorable. We walked in on a quiet night with ten minutes till closing just on a whim. Jaime, the gentlemen behind the bar, talked with us and did tastings for us well after they had officially closed. I learned a lot of things and walked out with a bottle of Red, White, and Blue Bourbon--an organic bourbon that may be the best I've ever had. I'm glad I don't live in the area, because I'd live at this place. Until they threw me out, at least. read more

Feisty Spirits impressed me in so many ways! This is a very small distillery that makes whiskey. A large group left right as we arrived leaving the bar completely open. The two bartenders spent 10 minutes giving us the run down of the choices, as well as their process. We ordered two flights, which is 8 half-ounce pours. While we tried two infused whiskeys, the real action is their red and blue corn varieties! Don't miss them! There un-aged blue corn bourbon is one of the best I've had. The bartenders talked us through each bourbon and whiskey; they were wonderfully informative! But if you read nothing else...GET THE COFFEE LIQUOR! Apparently they just got approval to bottle and sell this, but this is the best coffee liquor I've ever had. It is so minimally sweet, with strong coffee flavor and a buttery finish. Eh, it's okay. I'm not a huge fan of whiskey, but we were on a bike tour and decided to stop. My friend and I shared the fruit brandy flight. It was pretty rough. The service was okay. She didn't take the time to explain it to us, which detracts from the experience. But it was a good place to stop and try something different. The tasting room is small. We got the Groupon for the tour and taster trays. The tour was pretty neat, they took us through the distillery and let us try the whiskey in its various stages. We then got to check out the barrel room and learn about how different barrels can significantly change the taste of the whiskey. Our taster trays were pretty nice, and was more than enough for the four of us. We tried almost everything. Our favorite from before we came was the Maple and Cinnamon whiskey, and it kept its spot as the best. They try to make a lot of different kinds of whiskey, which is kind of neat, but I think it would be better if they tried to perfect a small few. Their bourbon was pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. I think for now I'll just stick with the Maple and Cinnamon, which is quite fitting with the snowy weather we've had lately. read more

I dropped in with a group of friends while on a bike tour of Fort Collins. I was traveling through on my bachelor party. David was very friendly and took plenty of time with us to explain each of the different spirits we ordered and even provided insight on some of the new whiskeys he was working on. We really enjoyed the opportunity to try and compare so many different types of whiskey. Comparing the unbarreled and barreled versions of the same whiskey was great! We also loved the brandy offerings, unique whiskeys made from beers, and flavored whiskeys (the cinnamon oat was amazing!). Thank you David for such a memorable experience and a bottle of the BBB Collabskey! Overall, visiting Feisty Spirits on a whim was one of the best parts of the entire weekend. I experienced this place solo, as my pal had to bow out AND the other tour group left 10 minutes after I got there. I tend to ask a lot of questions - some of them dumb, some of them rather technical - but Jamie and Stephen were very patient and I got to learn about distillation (which I knew very little about previously) from a couple of very dedicated guys. The tasting room is small, but the whiskey is very good. I enjoyed *trying* the hops and bier schnapps, but the straight bourbon really stood out with a nice, smooth flavor. I also really liked the apple brandy and apple brandy variants. No joking, and this isn't just the amazing whiskey talking, this place is a gem. We went as part of the Spirits Trail and I am so glad we did. First of all, Michael took great care of us. He answered all of our questions, made great recommendations. Joan - he is a treasure and you have taught him well! I love the way the do their flights and again Michael was super helpful walking us through it. Quinoa whiskey? Who knew?! I was beyond impressed with how much I learned on the free distillery tour! I had already been to brewery and distillery tours in FOCO before, but this one blew those out of the water. Not only did I learn the difference between every different liquor, but even the nuances between different terminology, how to determine good from bad quality, how to make whiskey from beginning to end, how to properly smell and taste whiskey, and what the aging process is like. I also got to compare the tastes of whiskey right after distilling to after being barrel-aged to being over-aged when the tannins leach from the barrel and make it bitter. The owner was so knowledgeable about everything and took the time to answer all my questions. I highly recommend coming here for the tour, music and/or to drink. The prices are incredibly reasonable considering the time and diligence that went into making them, and the staff is so friendly. I never thought I liked whiskey until I came here! Amazing place. The whiskey was excellent, both the traditional whiskeys and some of the more experimental kinds(quinoa, trifocal, millet, etc). The shining star was the staff though. The girl working the front was amazing and friendly, and the tour that the owner gives was my new favorite in FC. We were able to try whiskeys at difference stages of the process, from the beginning all the way up to where it was ready to be bottled. In addition, the owner sat around with us for a bit talking about whiskey. He is a very passionate, and knowledgeable person and I plan on going back here more often than my liver would prefer.
