It's pretty funny, because here I was thinking that a scavenger hunt is a competition in which you try to be the first to finish and to have all the answers right. I don't know why I thought that, I guess I was just inane enough to look to Wikipedia, THE LARGEST ASSEMBLY OF INFORMATION IN HUMAN HISTORY, for the rules. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scavenger_hunt Anyway, my team finished first and got everything right, then lost on a tiebreaker question to some dweeb virgins who finished 10 minutes after us. It was a tremendous miscarriage of justice that I find deeply upsetting. Besides that, though, I thought the scavenger hunt was done quite well and was a fun way to spend an afternoon. The guy who wrangled all the nerds before and after the event was also quite good at his job. I'd highly recommend this scavenger hunt to anyone who is willing to suspend their respect for the sanctity of traditional scavenger hunt rules.

I'd recommend these for locals rather than first-time tourists since when you're rushing around from clue to clue you don't have a lot of time just to browse the museum. I haven't won a hunt yet, but they're so much fun I don't really care. It's a great way to learn things about the museum you never would've found out otherwise. Wear comfortable shoes as you'll be doing a lot of walking and use common sense with your clothing if you're doing an outdoor hunt. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is it can get a little pricey if you're buying a bunch of tickets for a big team. Tickets are cheaper for the family hunts, but you must have children with you

Our 10th graders had so much fun going through the museum on their adventure. Booking with Jared was seamless; his level of professionalism, attention to detail, and kindness made this process a joyful experience. Our guide, Laura K., is truly delightful. Laura is extremely knowledgable, great with communication, and has so much energy! Teachers, camp leaders, youth group leaders: this is the perfect way to book a tour of the museum so you do not have to worry about which exhibits might be closed or trying to figure out how to make the most of your museum time because Secret City guides are at the experts - easiest field trip ever! We cannot wait to book another scavenger hunt. Jared and Laura, you are the best!

And on short notice they were able to switch the hunt indoors due to the enduring heat wave in NYC. Abby led our hunt at Chelsea Market. My corporate team was about 20 people and everyone had a great time. The hunt was about 2 hours long, the clues were challenging and we learned a lot of great facts about Chelsea Market. I would highly recommend Secret City to anyone who wants to plan a fun group activity.

I've been to a few places in the ballpark of this before (Activate, Level 99). This place has a good amount of rooms, and a good blend of purely physical, and purely mental, so enough to satisfy any range of talents in your group, and flexibly so across rooms. Even with a few other groups in the building, we only had to wait a handful of times, and it was on the order of seconds. I came last time right after opening in October, and this time, many of the games were very much replay-able and fun with a new group! Not sure about coming back more frequently though-- I imagine that I'd have to similarly come back with some time in between or with enough new people to keep it novel enough to be fun. Some games are malfunctioning due to some unruly guests going way too hard, but otherwise, the staff are super helpful and are willing to help out to get games up and running for you again, or to give you tips on games if you're struggling to get a 100 score. A fun evening for sure! You'll leave a bit tired!

There are physical skill challenges, mental challenges, problem solving challenges, math, logic, etc. We did the 90 minutes, at first it seemed like a long time for the kids (6&8) but as we really got into the challenges and rooms, the last hour flew by. We really had a good time and they are already talking about bringing friends back. Check them out!
