CAMPI'S PIZZA - So thick! Yum

OK, so here's the deal for this review. I have never been to the actual "Campi's"…read more But I have been to their food truck so many times over the years at the Italian festival on Hertel Avenue I go there just to get Campi's Pzza, because it is the best pizza ever. It is so thick and so much toppings are on it. It's so good. My two favorite, of course, are the cheese and pepperoni and the white pizza without all the veggies. They have a couple white pizzas. I like the one with the garlic and Ricotta cheese and whatever else is on their plain white pizza. The white pizza with all the veggies is good, but I'd rather just have the plain white pizza. The service is fast friendly except for the last guy I had. He was trying to tell me that they didn't have any white pizza without the veggies and then I pointed up to the top and said that's white pizza and then he gave me some that i actually wanted. I don't like when people act like they know it all and they don't know anything. They're expensive, but I tell you ,I don't care !! This is one place that I will pay the money for my slice of pizza. It is too good to pass up. I will continue to go back to the Italian festival every year, just to get this pizza and if any of you reading this, have not tried it yet, you must !! That's an order ! =)

I'd rate it a 4. Food was very delicious. No salad and no bread with spaghetti. Come on at least…read morethe bread. Every Italian restaurant has bread. Service okay. Not remarkable. And no lunch menu most restaurants offer this service. All in all a nice atmosphere, good food, okay service but no extras.

We had pizza two different days while staying at Chautauqua Institute. The first time the pizza was…read moregreat and we would've given this restaurant a five star. The crust was similar to a Pizza Hut hand tossed but much better. It was cooked all the way through and the toppings were cooked perfectly. The second time the crust was overcooked on the outside, but undercooked on the inside. The pizza overall on the outside and all the toppings were overcooked, too brown, and it was dried out. So a dried out pizza with undercooked crust in the middle. This pizza would've been a one star rating. The first time we ate in the restaurant and were the first people in the restaurant for lunch to order pizza. Again, for the style it was an excellent pizza. The second time we ordered in the late afternoon takeout so that we could bring it back to our condo before the evening show at Chautauqua. My guess is the second time the oven was much hotter, so they could accommodate turning more pizzas more quickly. This made their product inferior by cooking it at too high of a temperature. The restaurant really needs to look for quality control, and consistency. Based on the number of good restaurants in the area, or more like lack there of, if they were more consistent, they could dominate the market.

She gave me the change, which I put in the tip jar along with a "thank you". The girl didn't blink, didn't say "thanks", nothing. But, OK, it's busy, maybe she's having a bad day. Our 4 pizzas were up, I went to the counter to pick them up and the same girl was cutting the pizzas. I asked if I could have have a plastic container for chili flakes. The girl didn't acknowledge me for about twenty seconds and then said, "yeah, I'll be right back" and walked to the back. A girl standing in front of me asked, "what did you need?" I said, just a small container for the chili flakes" she reached over and handed me a 2oz plastic container, at which point, the blonde girl returned with a thimble sized plastic container... no exaggeration, thimble sized. The blonde girl literally tried to take the bigger cup out of my hand, which I held onto. I said, "I prefer the larger one, it's for FOUR EXTRA LARGE PIZZAS" and she looked me right in the eye and said, "No, unless you want to pay .50 for it" I pulled the cup away and gave the second girl a buck and told her to keep the change. The two employees who witness this interaction had a "WTF is going on" look on their faces. This was my first time, and obviously last time here, and I'm really not sure what was going on. The whole interaction felt personal. I don't know if she thought is was someone else or a previous bad customer, but I can just as easily drive a 100 yards down the road for a equally good pizza and at least a smile when I walk in.

They were wonderful about communicating that they are CASH ONLY when I was ordering and they were so nice and friendly when we arrived to pick up our food. They thanked us for coming and it added a layer of love for this establishment. The pizza itself was excellent. The sauce to cheese ratio was excellent and the crust was crispy and well made. Both of my kids enjoyed their pizzas and I will absolutely be returning!
