BEST BBQ RIBS IN THE COUNTY! ...BEST JERK CHICKEN SINCE I LEFT TORONTO…read more...AND they're made on-site with local meat (no hormones or other crap) & with a delicious smokey BBQ sauce also from Elora, also with no nasty chemicals. Meat falls off the bones, so tender. They don't make them every day so best to call ahead and pre-order so you're not disappointed. They sell the sauce there, in different flavours, so I was happy to buy a jar to add extra when I reheat the ribs. Oh so yummy! JERK CHICKEN: Those who know The Real Jerk in Toronto will appreciate how expertly prepared Dar's son Sean makes his Jerk Chicken, marinated & ready for your oven! I asked how it was that it was so authentic. Sean's wife is Jamaican & helped develop the famous tastey Jerk marinade recipe they use. I've impressed some dinner guests with that dish! Jerk has a really unusual blend of spices, making it unique & well worth trying! SEAFOOD: I've ordered the best & biggest scallops there to make a Coquille St.Jacque.that my French friends flipped over. I love that Dar is health conscious & carries a lot of foods with nothing toxic in them. That's so important to me these days when the Monsantos of the world seem to be trying to poison us all to death with their pesticides, killing off the bees... Oh don't get me going... lol.

There are a lot of wonderful shops, and it's very walkable. We stopped in this story, which is nominally an olive oil and herbs shop, but because it was summertime and it is hot, I suspect they decided to diversify, and they also have some ice cream. It was good, but not jump-out-of-your-skin wonderful. The counter was a little disorganized for checking out, but it seems like it would be a better place to visit for olive oil purposes.

The Village Olive Grove is a gourmet extra virgin olive oil and vinegar shop that imports from all over the world. There we learned how to tell if extra virgin olive oil is authentic and how it's made. We also learned how to taste vinegar without the acidic flavour getting in the way. Just when you think you're a foodie, you learn something new! Love it! Last, but not least, we sampled Mapleton's Organic Ice Cream. It was flavoured with dandelion. It had a mild mocha flavour. Pretty good! We all looked worried when he said it was made with dandelion, but were all impressed. The owner is very knowledgeable and will allow you to sample any oil or vinegar in the store. The prices are higher than grocery stores, but you're here for the quality and you will definitely get it!

All their breads and baked goods use high quality local ingredients. Located on the main street of downtown Elora, this bakery is popular among the out-of-towners who visit the area. The bakery has no seating indoors and a single table outside if you'd like to enjoy your treats. However, it is mainly take out only. I came by Elora Bread Trading Co. on a Sunday and was excited to find a great selection of baked goods including 4 types of sourdough (country, seeded, maple cinnamon raisin and marble rye), scones (buttermilk, cheddar + chive, cranberry, ginger peach), and focaccia (rosemary or cornbread jalapeno). Moreover, they also had cinnamon buns, brownies, caneles, donuts, pizza dough, and cookies for sale as well. There are some canned and bottles drinks as well for sale. I decided to get a cornbread and jalapeno focaccia, a buttermilk scone, and caneles. All the items I got were great! Service was also friendly as well. Overall, a cute local bakery in Elora if you ever decide to visit!

The serving lady was very nice and helpful. I was so disappointed to hear that most of the menu items weren't available, but I was so excited to try homemade pizza and past in an Italian restaurant. We ordered "Sausage & Peppers Pasta", "Bucatini Bison Bolognese pasta", "Classic Canadian Pizza" and "Confit Garlic & Onion Pizza". Pizza dough tasted really good, but my pizza was burned and it was served with no explanations or apologies, which was a put off. Pastas tasted ok but nothing special. To be honest, I expected more of this place based on the marketing and reviews I read on Yelp.

Everything else worked quit well including our server "David". One of the better servers that I've had in quit a while. He was very friendly & attentive & earned his tip. This is an indoor do-over.
