There's baking directions on the box but I always like tenting my pies with tin foil and adding an extra 15minutes in the oven to warm it. And I always like checking their 50% section and day-old bakery items. We've tried the Tourtiere, Steak & mushroom, and Lamb pot pie so far. Loved them all and looking forward to trying the rest!

I have been looking into dessert shops in the Cambridge area and decided to give Tiny Cakes a try…read morefirst since it is right down the street from my gym (go figure). I really enjoy that they post their daily selections on Facebook and their website. They had a large selection of sweet treats and breads available even near closing time. Food: I ordered a German chocolate cupcake, an eggnog tiny cake, and a pink macaroon. The eggnog tiny cake's frosting was quite sweet but the cake itself balanced it out very nicely, leaving you with a true eggnog flavor. The pink macaroon was not shaped like a classic macaroon but was rectangular and had three distinct layers. On top was a very sweet, pink frosting, then the coconut mixture, and finally a hard crust on bottom. Unfortunately, I did not like it at all. Lastly, I had the German chocolate cupcake. The cake was very moist and the classic German chocolate frosting was tasty. Service/Location: The service was great as I was welcomed when first arriving and afterwards there was always someone ready to assist me. Since the bakery is downtown there is ample parking and other shops to explore but the area can get busy. Price: I paid $4.00 for the German chocolate cupcake, $3.75 for the eggnog tiny cake (though in the display the price was listed at $4.00), and $2.35 for the pink macaroon. Overall, a decent value. Conclusion: Based on these three desserts, I was not overly impressed. Perhaps I would enjoy some of their other desserts more, therefore in the future I may return to see what else they have to offer.

The soft serve ice cream is very good as well, though the chocolate dip does overpower it a bit. I feel like next time I'll just get a regular plain cone, mainly because the dip is very thick and after a while it becomes a bit too sweet. I definitely want to try the milkshakes they had advertised next time.

Around 10 there wasn't much of a rush and was the perfect time to enjoy some much needed tete-a-tete with my friend. She ordered the Raspberry muffin and avocado toast with feta and I ordered the nut steel cut oats and berries toast. I absolutely loved both of my meals. The steel cut oats were generously served, slightly sweet but not too much. The berries toast, very unique combination of mascarpone, honey, strawberries, and black pepper with a dash of mint. The dark chocolate mocha was delish, and was surprised to discover they offer milk chocolate mochas as well. Additionally, I loved that the cutlery was served wrapped in cloth napkins, which gives it a classic edge. The environment has indeed changed quite a bit. You can see a new roasters has been built and a baby gate has been placed in front of the down going stairs (wonderful safety note for those with wild toddlers like me). It seems milk gets hand delivered by an older amish couple (we so happened to witness this ourselves)...I don't think you can get any more locally sourced than that! I'm glad I revisited this place as I believe this has a lot of great things going for it. Although the sole staff did very well, the food did take a bit of time to come. As we were in no hurry this did not effect my time there but that is something potentially to note for future goers.

The classic croissant was laminated well and had good structural integrity. I really appreciate the intentional use of local ingredients too. Some of the other items were not to my personal taste preference, but they were still made well. I came here on a mission to try their pastries. They were $6 each OR Half-dozen for $34. Here were my thoughts: -Hazelnut Bar (5/5, would come back for just this!! Love the nutty, Slightly salty, cream filling with the extremely thin layered shell) -Sweet Cherry Nest (4/5, nicely balanced. Again with the super thin layers of pastry. Such a nice crispy texture) -Maple Morning Bun (4/5, loved the layers of spongey croissant in the middle with the sugary crumble exterior) -Candied Bacon (4/5, hard to not enjoy a sweet-savoury moment and whatever syrup they coated this with was devilish) -Blueberry Crumble (2.5/5), didn't like the pastry texture here as much. Dense and drier. Otherwise I enjoyed the plump blueberry filling. Staff was super friendly too. They were steadily busy on a Friday late afternoon, glad I didn't have too much of a line-up!
