Sadly, the experience you get shopping here has gone downhill since the change in ownership. I've always come here for my finch food. Lately, whether the food I need was in stock has been hit-and-miss. I'm only in town once every couple weeks, so it's a problem when they don't have my food in stock. When I was in a week and a half ago, it wasn't in stock. My wife had to go into town a few days ago, so I asked her to pick some up. They weren't in stock. Sigh. I like to support local businesses but this was the only place that had the food my birds would eat. I looked online and found the food through Chewey. I no longer have a reason to go into The Feed Barn again. (I'd occasionally get other items since I was already in their store) *After my wife went in to look, she mentioned to me the bad odor of rat urine. The new owners here are terrible all the cats in there are suffering it smells like straight piss because they obviously aren't taking care of the cats. I got my cat from there a couple of months ago and he's the best cat ever don't get me wrong but he had ear mites and he didn't have a rabies or flea vaccine from when I got him there so it cost me a 500 dollar vet bill as soon as I got him. Went to buy a dog crate. When we walked in the store smelled like rat pee, bleach and they were burning incense. We found the crate we wanted on top shelf took it down it had a bunch of rat poop and pee in it. It is a disgusting dirty store. I will never go there again. read more

Change of ownership has caused this place to tank. The store itself reeks like cat urine so much that it'll knock you out. Teller was not pleasant to ring you up and it looks like they haven't restocked their shelves in a long time. Wouldn't trust their supply for my animals. read more

I used to buy bulk bird seed as it is a good price however the seed is full of black bugs, webs and empty hulls, an open bag of rabbit food had been in the same spot for 2 weeks crawling with bugs and full of webs. The last few times I have been here the smell was awful- the quality and cleanliness of this place needs to be better. Service was ok. Someone's pet is going to get sick. I sent my wife down town to buy six bales of wheat. What this inexperienced feed store gave her was wheat shaft. And extremely little wheat. I hope the new owners are not thieves but they should inspect what they sell. I hope the next owners are better. Because these people are not going to last long. Being generous. Not the local feed store it once since it has been sold. New owners don't seem to appreciate the long established business and loyal customers they acquired. No longer the friendly local feed store we once enjoyed shopping in. High prices, limited forms of payments, low stock, no more kitties.... I make the drive to Lees in Lockeford now for friendly service, quality products and good prices. A loss for the community. read more

I don't normally take to posting reviews- but this felt necessary. When the new owners purchased this business, half of the locals stopped coming here for a variety of reasons. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, so I gave them my business. I can now understand their bad rep- I purchased two vaccines for my horses, upon getting home and reviewing the packaging for the vaccines, I realized they sent me home with completely different vaccinations than I'd requested. DO NOT buy a livestock supply/feed store if you know nothing about livestock. They also wouldn't refund the purchase, only offered store credit. I literally have no use for these vaccines and have to dispose of them now. If you purchase from them, make sure you double check everything! read more

During the COVID-19 outbreak, this establishment is open and not taking precautions for customer safety. I do not feel comfortable with staff members who do not wear masks approaching my daughter. How is it that businesses are required to take precautions and zero of the five or six employees we encountered at the store were wearing masks? We LOVE the feed barn. We buy dog supplies and chicken feed. However, there is much, much more. Always a perfect selection of the items we love and use. We always shop for our Sugar Pine Doodles families full packages here and we love knowing we're supporting local jobs by a local company not some big corporation store. We want this store to not only survive but thrive. This store is well staffed, well stocked, clean, open with a small town feel. When I speak to the staff they look at me and they aren't glazed over. They are all stylish and have pets themselves. Many live in an agriculture setting and give the best advice and always have ideas I appreciate. Stores like belong in Amador County and need to be forever. Always shop here first and tell them what you want when they don't have it. I looked on Google to find out what time the Feed Barn closes today on February 1st 2022 it stated 6 was closing time got myself together I'm not been feeling good have a major headache left the house at 5:15 so that I can make it I pull up there's a gentleman standing outside he walks up to my truck and says I'm sorry man they've already closed the doors I said it's only 5:25 you guys close at 6 she said I'm sorry and proceeded to walk away from me I have attempted to call the store back to back to back a million times to no avail I am highly pissed off right now Mike has need for you and they're not going to have it now. I feel that that is highly disrespectful and just disregards to customer. Customer service was absolutely horrible, the older blonde lady that works in there im pretty sure is the store supervisor was extremely rude and completely unprofessional towards me and other customers.. quite honestly those that are looking to buy hay or any feed i would not go here!! Most of the hay is moldy and wet!! This is the third time this year they have gotten my order wrong. Only this time, they not only got it wrong, the crap they sold me was Old and decomposed! I was supposed to get LMF complete, and they sold me LMF senior. There is absolutely no way I would ever feed this to my horse. It is a powdery dust mixed with a few pellets. Management tried to tell me that LMF told then it is supposed to be that way. That is bull! If you feed that to a horse, they can breath that powder into their lungs and get horribly sick! The worst is that I paid a neighbor $20. To unload my car and empty this shit into my metal containers. Now they are forcing me to load all of this crap back into the bags and bring it back to them before they will correct their error, and refund my money. Despicable customer service, and completely untrained and ignorant sales staff who sold me the wrong feed for the 3rd time this year! I'm done with you Feed Barn, not only are you making me re-bag the wrong product before you'll refund my money, but it seems you could care less about having my business any longer. read more

All at once prices went sky high. Dry cob 70 lb went up 5.00 a bag to 21.00. Was quite shocked but animals need to eat. Returned a week later for more dry cob only to find out they were out of 70 lb and only had 50 lb bags. Ok things happen and ask for 3 bags . whan the price was over 20.00 for the small bag I only got 2 bags way way over priced and I an not happy at all. I wont shop here ever again with these insane prices. Other feed stores charge 13.99 for 50 lb bags. Was told new owners took over and its really sad what they are doing to local customers. Overpriced. Unfriendly staff. Went to this store for a dog house and two bales of straw. Left with the straw and a frown. They had the exact same dog house as Petco, (in the same shopping center) but they wanted 115$ more. Trying to keep my shopping at smaller stores instead of chain stores I asked if they price match. Denied. Packed up my hey and went to Petco. Super friendly lady shows me the dog house, asked for the online price that I showed the feed store to ensure I was getting the best price, then had another employee load it for me. Left a happy customer. No need to return to the feed barn, hey is also less expensive at the Valley Springs Feed, and the staff is way friendlier. read more

Have been shopping at the Feed Barn since 2001 and love the place. Clean store, fabulous employees. Huge selection of items and their prices are decent. And they have the healthy chicken feed I prefer, and a large selection of chicks each spring. None of the chicks we have gotten from them since 2001 have ever gotten sick or died. We have chickens for bug control and eggs. And their bales of straw are less expensive than at the stores in San Andreas, Valley Springs. read more

Poor customer service. As of 4/2011 very expensive hay (over $16/bale) which horses will not eat and the only return option the Feed barn offered was to return at my own expense. Obviously not a goodwill gesture. read more

The staff is pretty friendly. We have been in here several times since we have baby chicks and are building a chicken coop. As of 7/12. Love the girls behind the counter at Feed Barn, very knowledgeable and friendly. I have called for help with my animals regarding feeding, and other things not involving purchases and have received excellent advice and help. A wide range of everything you could want in a Feed Store. The most up to date clothing, boots, feed and more. I don't mind paying a little extra to not have to drive out of the county and spend twice as much in gas. Love supporting this store and very thankful it is in our community. I love this place. Even when I was starting with my baby chicks they were very friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to do. They have a good selection as far as animal and pet supplies too. They normally stock 5-6 different types of chicks depending on when you go. read more

They need to drop the word feed from their name, went in on Friday 10/10 to get pig feed......they were out! I wonder what they were going to do for the weekend without any feed. I guess I can just tell my pigs there not really hungry or the feed store would have feed for them.
