Calling their customer support resulted in a representative repeatedly reading from a script that informed that they would not provide a time window for delivery any shorter than 18 hours. They intend for the customer to wait around the entire day for a delivery that may or may not occur, informed me they have no idea where there truck is, and continued to read from a script that the delivery would be made before 8PM. UPS easily provides a time window of when to expect delivery, meets that time window, and provides a map showing where their truck is at any given moment. Avoid any merchant that uses FedEx for delivery. read more

So, during my trip to Miami, I drunkenly walked in the water with my phone in my trucks, after I was specifically warned not to. That's neither here nor there. Anyhow, I obviously had to order a new one, and I was pleased when the phone insurance company, Asurion, told me that I could have it the very next day. Being as though my phone is my life, I was enthused to hear about this and I was salivating at the idea of my phone coming the next day. Therefore, I had it shipped to my job, so I wouldn't have to go one second longer without my baby. BAD IDEA. I get to work, late, at my usual time, 9:15, to find that I have a voice-mail. Turns out that Fed Ex tried to ship my device and apparently said I needed to "confirm" my address. So, I call to "confirm" the address and I tell them the Exact address that I told them before (the correct one) and room number. I specified the building I am in and the Department that I work for and obviously they have my phone number there if they called me. So, the lady tells me that he'll try again in the afternoon shipment. This idiot shipper comes to the building and again does not deliver my phone. I am tracking it closely online, so I call the office myself this time and ask what happened. The guy wasn't answering his phone, but eventually they gained that security told them that I had moved or something. This upset me for two reasons. 1. F*ck what security says, I have told you 3 times a specific address, don't even bother with them; just come up and investigate yourself. I know this can't possibly be the first time Fed Ex has had to deliver something to this building, so what's the big deal. 2. CALL ME. I give my number when I place an order, CALL IT right there on the spot! At this point, I don't trust that Fed Ex is competent enough to deliver it properly, so I go pick it up myself at 8:30, when they tell me the guy gets back. Not surprisingly, he doesn't get back until 9. This experience was stressful and pathetic. I don't know how I can give an address any more accurately than I did. From now on, I will stick to having things shipped to my home residence. Epic Fail. *Edit: The only good thing about the customer service here is the lady workign the front desk. This place is pretty bad-ass. Being able to see all the FedEx trucks on the second floor of the huge building getting repaired or filled with deliveries is pretty neat, and the ability to have my packages held here, very close to my residence, for me to pick them up at my leisure--until 8:30pm on weekdays or 6pm on the weekends--is incredibly convenient. I imagine the customer service experience will vary depending on if your FedEx rep had a bad commute to work, or if her husband remembered to wash his dishes, or how the Redskins played on Sunday.... but I've yet to run into difficulties. Well, except for that one security guard who actually took a moment from talking to her BFF on her celly to berate me for exiting out the wrong gate. Just a note, they'll ask for identification when you enter the main gate, so make sure to have some form of ID with you. read more

This place is the worst. I had a pre-paid Fed Ex shipping label from my company unfortunately I could not print it at home. So I had to go to a FedEx location. After waiting 10 minutes while employees were standing around socializing I got my turn at the counter. I told them I had the pre-paid Fedex shipping label but needed it printed. I had done this at other locations of UPS and Fedex before with no issue. They just scan the barcode on my phone and their machine will print out the label. But the customer service here is lazy and terrible. The employee heard the word "print" and latched onto that and ignored everything else. "We don't do that here. You need to go to a FedEx Office center". I explained I didn't need a document printed but merely a FEDEX shipping label to affix to my package. You know... what their registers print out hundreds of times a day for every other shipping transaction. Still got the same surly response of "this is a shipping center not an office center". This is a cop out and not acceptable. read more

I had a Fed Ex Express shipment with my asthma medication to be delivered on Saturday. The delivery driver / manager at Fed Ex Express Center an employee named Samaar reported that my package was refused by a security guard which is not true since we don't have one . We do have an intercom easy to use also my phone number was available , never received a notification from that person . Fed ex customer care clueless since their system was down . By 4 pm I arrived at Fed EX Express ship Center only to be told by an employee who genuinely was trying to help, that I have to wait until Sammar is back. After 55 min I was told that most likely I have to come back on Monday since Samaar was nowhere to be found . I just want to say the rest of the employees at that location seemed nice and were trying to help other customers even though Fed Ex system was down . read more

I felt compelled to write this review considering all the negative reviews I read about the fedex facility located at 1501 Eckington place, NE. Based on the reviews I had I showed up to pick up a package expecting a long hour queue and at best average customer service. Instead what I found was a very security guard who politely asked for my ID. To my surprise there was only one person before me. Holly was the customer service representative who expeditiously and politely retrieved my package. When I queried how it was possible that my experience was so pleasant considering the negative reviews I also was introduced to the manager who was extremely polite and professional. All in all, I would not hesitate to visit this facility again. read more

Extremely poor and unprofessional delivery service from this shipping center. Never had an issue with UPS or USPS in over a decade of receiving packages, but when an online purchase was shipped through this FedEx Center, the package was repeatedly not delivered despite guarantees that it would be. Despite no signature being required, driver did not leave package on first day when it guaranteed to be delivered. Then, after door tag was signed and taped on front door to specifically indicate that package should be left outside, it was then not left again the next day. Delivery driver also did not ring doorbell, buzz unit, or call number. Simply arrived and left without leaving package, 2 days in a row. FedEx customer service line says I will receive calls back with further information, but calls never come. Will notify online merchants so they can switch to UPS or USPS. read more

I had a SUPER time-sensitive, very expensive package that I was really worried about (worried enough to stay home the day it was slated to arrive). The corporate level FedEX customer service wasn't very helpful, but once I was patched through to Gloria at this FedEX location, she did all she could to help me. She tracked down my package, which had just been loaded onto the truck. She advised me that I would get the package faster if I let the truck deliver it than if they removed it and held it for me to pick up, based on how far away I was coming from. She put me on hold and called the driver for an updated delivery estimate, which was "around noon" as opposed to the projected "by 8pm" time the online tracker said. I came in the shipping center very upset because I work way in Bethesda and I'm never home to receive my packages and I didn't want my packages to be stolen I didn't want pocket Pirates to take the thing that I bought for my daughter and her homework for Duke Ellington School of the Arts well Holly at the FedEx Center saw that I was upset and she asked me first how's my day going we talked a bit about a few other things and then while I was talking she was in the system pulling up my information to help find my package the driver or whatever put the package somewhere and she had to go in search she was the only one at the register but she said you know what I've been here for thirty some odd years I know what I can do to find your package and she found it she made me and my daughter so very happy because if we not have gotten our package it would have been sent back a of total waste of my time and energy but thanks to Holly so much for going above and beyond her Call of Duty and working for FedEx Northeast DC FedEx Wasa they just don't make them like her anymore thank you Holly so much for all that you do may God bless you read more

On Thursday 3/27 a notice was left on the door of an attempted delivery. I contacted FedEx who told me I could sign the door notice, leave it attached to the door, and the package would be left on Friday 3/28. I signed the door notice and taped it to the door. Today, Friday 3/28 I returned home from work to find another door notice stuck next to the original. I contacted FedEx who transferred me to the local hub. The local hub is refusing to re-deliver today. They also claimed a manager was unavailable for me to talk with. I am severely upset over the handling of this incident. I am unable to drive to pick up the package and I need it today. I feel I am being inconvenienced for FedEx's improper handling and refusal to admit fault or correct the error. ? read more

Writing this review of behalf of my beleaguered coworker who braved the rush hour streets of DC with me to reach this sullen little building downtown. It has a security booth you have to check in with before you can park which is an alarming first for our many dealings with FedEx (our corporate shipping vendor), mostly good, but there's always a rotten apple in there, isn't there? We admit our mistake in not counting the boxes when the delivery was dropped off. They gave us 8 when we should have got 9. A phone call to Customer Service got us the address to this office because we couldn't wait for the following morning or we'd miss our deadline. I didn't go in with him but I should have. He was in there for quite a long time, returning once for his employee ID. When he returned to the car, disgusted, he settled the precious box in the backseat, then himself into the passenger seat and told me a story of a world where customer service does not exist. He presented our dilemma to the agents at the front desk whereupon they asked him for the second tracking number. They claimed they couldn't use the original one because the delivery had been made so it was useless. Since customer service didn't mention one, he said he didn't have it. The lady clerk said then there was nothing she could do. And then she stopped talking to him and did nothing. After more discussion asking for help and the desk agent's coworkers echoing her request for a second tracking number he placed a call to Customer Service once again. They instructed the desk agents at this office what they should have done. Now they had something to do and were clearly unhappy about that. After this performance so far, they refused to give him the box once found without his employee ID hence his short visit to the parking lot. But they did go get the box. We did get to meet our deadline and we will clearly avoid this office. Forever. read more

Those naysayers tarnishing the good name of my FedEx! Darn! I use this FedEx location quite often -- often enough that the main woman who works weekday mornings always has my package ready and waiting for pickup right next to her at 9:00am when the doors open. I've come across several other folks in my FedEx runs who have the same morning routine and get the daily "I've got your package right here" from our gal. FedEx being FedEx (ie. a business comprised of human people who make human mistakes), I've dealt with a fair number of their mishaps over the years, whether from this particular location, or its network of doings all across the country. I guess I sound like a shill for saying this, but this company transports huge, gargantuan magnitudes of shipments everyday, they work themselves to the bone during the holiday season, and they are the only delivery carrier (forget those schlubs at USPS and UPS) that I'll even think about leaving candy out for when they do my deliveries around Christmas, because they really are the best in the business. For what it's worth, if you've got a problem and you're able to reach one of the customer service folks at the actual Eckington location, they are far more willing to go out of their way to figure out what's going on with your situation and take steps to help you out -- much more so than if you were to rely on FedEx's terrible national customer service help-line (avoid that garbage if you can). A lot of the complaints that I see about FedEx, either about its delivery protocol or about the people working at the front counter here, are issues that would be non-issues if people took the time to read their door tags, or followed widely-available instructions on how to mail a package, or understood how a business works (ie. it has to stay in business and can't give you free stuff), or stifled the entitlement complex for three minutes and treated the employees here with a modicum of respect and dignity. From my time standing in line and observing the happenings at this place, I'll just put it out there that the world would be a much more forgiving and pleasant place if everyone in our country had to spend some time working in retail or customer service as a youthful rite of passage. Maybe then they wouldn't spend five straight minutes haranguing a bottom-level customer-service agent for a problem infinitely beyond that employee's control, or worse yet, for a problem that the customer inflicted on himself because he couldn't be bothered to read his door tag. This shipping center is one of the worst I've used and I'm usually stuck using it because it's close to my house. Whenever I've visited, only one staff member has been working the walk-in service counter and he/she is usually unfriendly and unhelpful. They don't greet you or ask what you need, and the packaging materials are a but unorganized - so good luck finding what you need on your own. The self-service machine never works and there is no sign telling customers of that fact. FedEx rates are already really high compared to Post Office and the service you get at this location is not worth the rates you'll pay. Save $$ and time and go to USPS, UPS, or just a better FedEx location. read more

I waited in line as the white, older male behind the counter serviced a customer and gave him every excuse in the book on where his package could possibly be because they could not figure out why the currier left a 'We Missed You' post on his door yet the system states it was delivered. When it was my turn, he tells me that my package will not be available until after 7pm when the currier comes back despite receiving a phone call this morning staying that they wouldn't be able to deliver my package at 5pm and they would hold my package for me today to pick up! Follow up on my review of 6/4/2018 - had called next day for refund as they did not deliver when supposed to. Was told had to wait about 10 days to call back following week so it would be in their system was give number for accounting dept that does refunds. Just called and had spent $70,00 for 8:00am deliver 10:30am would have been $30.00 but was told they could only give me 50% back - and story had changed as now in their system it was stated that package could not be delivered because of "construction - and the street was closed" all day on Monday 6/4 they had claimed to try to deliver but nobody was home - (direct quote from driver) even though recipient was up at 7:00am waiting for package - so this FEDEX office just makes stuff up to cover their ass later and prevent you from getting full refund!!! If it were possible to give zero stars, I would have given zero, -10 would be even better. Avoid this FedEx location if at all possible. My husband arrived at this location approximately one hour after they opened last Saturday to a locked gate in front of the store with a guard. The guard would not allow my husband to go into the store to drop his pre-labeled/prepaid envelope off but was told instead to put it in the Dropbox outside of the gate, which he did. This was an overnight envelope that was to be delivered today, Monday and it has not even been checked into FedEx when I checked the tracking number status this morning. There is no local phone number available for this FedEx location so I called the 800 number and spoke with a representative who told me that the envelope will be delivered tomorrow because it was dropped in the drop-off box instead of being taken into the store. I asked for a local number for this location and was told that he was not allowed to give the number to me. My husband paid for overnight delivery and instead is getting 2-day delivery if someone actually goes and retrieves the envelope out of the drop-off box. I filed a complaint. No wonder the local phone number is a secret! The customer service in this FedEx store is unacceptable. Close the store so people will go to another FedEx location to have their envelopes and packages sent. read more

Fedex said they delivered a package to my apartment. I was home and they did not deliver. When I called them, first they wanted to know if I had hunted for the package, knocked on neighbors doors, etc. Really? The driver said I wasn't home so he had to leave it at the door and said he couldn't take it to the leasing office because they no longer accept packages, which is not true. Based on the driver's statement, Fedex pretty much told me it was up to me to contact the shipper because they verified the delivery with the driver. I have lived in this Apartment complex for 3 years and have never had a missing package. Fedex, you just made it easier to use UPS. Very poor customer service. read more

Was looking for more information on a lost package and a package that was being held for me at this location. I couldn't find their local office number so had to go through generic Fedex support to then transfer me to the local office. The lady who picked up said yes we have 1 package for you. I thanked her and then asked about my lost packed. She just started to repeatedly state the hours of the facility, disregard my question, and speak over me. I repeated that I knew their hours and I was asking about a specific package. She once again began just stating the hours of the location ignoring my question then hung up on me. The tag said to come in after 5:00 to pick it up but I am handicapped and and cannot get to the store which is not even in the same state. Oh, FedEx. i want to love you but you make it impossible. Even when i indicate the signature requirement is waived and request the package be left at my door, those instructions are completely disregarded. I've been home waiting for the delivery and find out later -- by text from the shipper -- that the package was "delivered" to my rental office. And before you comment, my rental office does NOT have a blanket policy about not leaving packages at the resident's doors. i get my UPS packages at my front door every. single. time. It's more than frustrating, it's so very wrong. After looking at other reviews, it looks like I'm not alone. It's gotten so bad that whenever i order something, if it's delivered by FedEx, i don't order it. Calling FedEx makes no difference -- every call is met with such a miserable attitude it's not worth calling. read more

If you can avoid getting a fed ex package delivered out of this delivery center it would probably be in your best interest. I was supposed to have a package delivered overnight so it would arrive at my house on a Saturday by noon. I got up around 8, and started doing some work on my computer at the kitchen table, about 10 feet from my front door. Facing the door. The doorbell works. Around 11:00 I got an email that no one was home so the package couldn't be delivered. I called Fed Ex explaining for reasons not worth explaining here that I need the package today. They agreed and forwarded the message to their Eckington office. The Eckington office called and told me the package would be delivered. Noticing no change in status in the tracking number I called Fed Ex back. Apparently no one actually got confirmation from the driver and the package is still scheduled for Monday. So, to recap, no one appears to have rung the doorbell, and the "overnight" package is now to be delivered at a time when I actually will be at work. Since It's my bank card, it would be hard to believe they'd change the delivery address SO I'LL PROBABLY HAVE TO WAIT TO GET THE THING DELIVERED UNTIL NEXT WEEKEND. In any case, if you're in the DC area, I'd use UPS or the post office if you're planning on receiving anything you actually need to get. Happy mailings... read more
