It's been quite some time I've given a business a one star but realistically, FedEx doesn't even deserve that high of a rating. FedEx attempted to deliver a package that required a signature on a Thursday to me. The driver rang the doorbell and within less than 10 seconds, was gone. My husband tried running after the truck but wasn't successful. The website kept showing an update that the package would be attempted again on Friday. One of us stayed home all day just waiting for it. Around 5:00 p.m., the update showed an attempt was made at 3:40 p.m. but no one was home. The picture FedEx used as attempt they tried was the same picture from the attempt the day before. No one from FedEx ever came by at 3:40, based on proof from our Ring camera. Saturday morning showed the package was scheduled for another attempt, only to be updated about an hour later that the customer requested a delivery date change. I made no request whatsoever. I finally called customer service and the person I spoke to promised me the package would be delivered by noon on Monday. I told her I wanted to pick up the package instead. She gave me this SSF location to pick up my package. I asked her what time they close and she said 5:00 p.m. I drove there only to find out they only open for package pick-up from 8-10 a.m. on the weekends. Wtf? FedEx, you should be ashamed of yourself. First you post fake updates on your website. Secondly, your customer service center doesn't even know the actual hours your distribution centers operate. FedEx Center, 1070 San Mateo, SSF worked hard to earn a minus zero for the overnite package that I paid for an overnite delivery last Monday, December 22, 2025. The driver did not ring my doorbell; but left a door tag on my front door. The nightmare begins. I called FedEx and was told, we could not find your address. How is this possible with other door tag and tracking number on my door. Spoke to employees all around the world instead of here in America; one woman sounded like a baby talking. Man in India was so rude. Finally, I said although, I have paid for an overnite letter, I will go to S. San Francisco and pick up the letter one staffer said "no" you cannot go there in person. Absurd. Asked to speak to a Supervisor, we cannot transfer you. My last conversation on Friday, I am coming to pick up the letter, please hold it there. Staffer says she is putting this in the notes. I was able to pick up my package Saturday morning after waiting around 20 minutes at the pickup window inside of the distribution center. I didn't need to call ahead or get pre-approval, I just showed up after being unable to get any help from the FedEx support line or from a local store. I only knew about this because of other yelp reviews. A very helpful and pleasant employee took my tracking number and then found the package inside the center. The pickup is at a small window inside the employee entrance to the distribution center. It's not fancy but there were a few chairs for waiting. On the weekend package pick up hours are 8AM-10AM. The window actually opened closer to 8:30 when I went. FedEx online and phone support are totally worthless. Picking up at this distribution center was a small inconvenience for the huge benefit of getting my important package over the weekend without having to wait until the next scheduled delivery. read more

Got the notification that FedEx would deliver my package between 10am and 2pm today, Sunday. I left the gate open alllllll day. Then I get a text at 4:27pm that says delivery was attempted and no one was home. A. I was home. So was my son and my dog who barks when the wind blows. B. My gate was open. C. I have security cameras, and there was no delivery truck on my street. D. The attempt photo is of a curb (see attached). E. Where is the delivery attempted tag? The driver was never here, thus no tag. Calling customer service is the only way to file a complaint, so I did at 6pm. The bot gave me the runaround and told me what the attempt text said then when I asked to speak to a person, the bot told me they were closed and hung up on me. FedEx suuuuuuucks. All FedEx employees do is lie. Every time a mouth opens, it lies. They can't help themselves. It's a compulsion or addiction. Your package will be delivered on X date at Y time, which is then mysteriously changed to the next day because of some alleged fabricated "exception." The next day it's changed to the next day and on and on and on. Try calling the 800 number? Ha! Workers whose first language is something other than English. On the phone, the lies just continue. To compound the problem, they'll patronize you, talk over you, and insincerely tell you how much they care and that they'll do whatever it takes to resolve the problem. To prove it, they'll graciously hold your package at a location for you to pick up on X date. Go to the location on the date stated and, what a surprise, the package isn't there as promised. The employees are clowns and the business is a dumpster fire. A horrible combination for any consumer and anyone expecting reasonable and timely delivery services. read more

They don't even bother to get inside the apartment building, I have security camera footage of them running up to the door, putting the sticker on the door, then running away - no package in hand. I have never interacted with such an unorganized, unreliable company like FedEx. Not only do the truck drivers claim they "Attempted" to deliver the package even though I have video proof that there was no FedEx driver that even approached my door step, they take no accountability when I ask them to help me find a resolution where I can get my package. After many excruciating long calls and different responses from different representatives that honestly clash with each others statements, I finally decided I'll just pick up at the distribution center even though it's a 40 minute drive from my house. I have a voicemail telling me to pick up the package from 10AM - 4 PM so I went at 2 Pm just for the security guy to tell me they will be open at 4 PM! Not only did they waste my time, they wasted my gas and my energy. Any business companies using FedEx I will not support purchasing from! This is infuriating. I'm 76 years old with disabilities and they refuse to leave packages on my front porch, which is easily accessible to them. I even have packages that say front porch delivery only, not the driveway. But they must be lazy because I'm forced to struggle down to the driveway. This happens every time. UPS and usps do it right, not not Fedex. Sellers chose delivery service, I have no control. Greetings, My PACKAGE had to be picked up there, because it was a perfume! A guy name Sam called to notify me that they couldn't ship it to my P.O. Box because it was a perfume! I purchased a 9x12 rug from Costco.com. Instead of making white glove delivery available, Costco decided to have FedEx deliver the rug to my home. What a horrible experience...the FedEx driver backed onto our driveway, pulled the rug out of his truck and placed the rug next to our garage door,couldn't take a few more steps to put it on our covered porch. He took off without ringing the door bell. Fortunately Costco has great customer service and the refund has already been initiated. FedEx has a lot gravity...never again!!! read more

During the holidays, and of course with Covid, it was more acceptable to have shipments delayed . But now, all of my packages that are coming via FedEx ground by way of SSF location, are delayed. First I'll get a reasonable arrival date via text, then that almost immediately that date changes. This time only 1 of 4 of my packages arrived. Apparently the other three are still in Ohio. To make matters worse, I'm greeted by agents over the phone, when I attempt to find out what's going on with my delivery, I get the standard politeness yet the same line. "It's always the shipper's fault, not FedEx". To one FedEx employee's credit, the most recent representative I spoke to about my missing packages (seems) more efficient and caring. Let's hope. I have tried in the past to complain to FedEx through their website and never get a response. Most of the drivers do a great job, bring boxes to the door and are very polite but one of them continues to leave parcels beside our open gate, which is 300' from the door. Yesterday, he left a box containing a very expensive Espresso machine beside the gate and our mail carrier caught the neighbor's dog chewing on it. He had chewed through two layers of very heavy cardboard and the pot was exposed. She chased him off and went out of her way to drive the box to our door. We can not see the gate from our house, so we had no idea it was there. read more

To be fair, I don't know how many people would take the time to give a positive rating, since FedEx's one and only job is to deliver packages. In any case, like many others, FedEx is completely unorganized and lacks customer service. And when I say "lacks", I really mean non-existant. They mark packages delivered even though they don't actually make a delivery attempt. I know this because I had a package shipped to my office and our building is closed on the weekend, but the tracking shows that they delivered the package. Eventually, they said it was at their distribution center, BUT they don't have a phone number to contact the distribution center to hold the package there and there is no phone number to give to customers. So your package is just in limbo, 50/50 if it will actually be delivered. read more

Their drivers LIE! Both yesterday and today, there were failed "delivery attempts." Per customer service, driver claims that he left a door tag. No door tag was there either day. So I checked the security video from our building, and no FedEx truck came by or stopped at the time of the supposed attempt. Two minutes after the second "failed attempt" by FedEx, I actually successfully received a different package via UPS! This is not the first time this has happened, it's actually an ongoing issue with FedEx. They use contractors which is just some guy in a van, not an actual FedEx employee, delivering the package. Just read the other reviews. This distribution center is the worst. Literally the only times I have had issues with FedEx, they were both linked to the South City distribution center. Similar to what others have already written about packages were "delivered" or "on a truck" --- for a month or more! Spoiler alert: the items never were delivered in the end and these "attempted deliveries"? They never happened. I'd like to think the items I purchased are currently out with Ms. Frizzle having a grand old adventure somewhere on the Magic FedEx Truck and they will somehow appear on my front porch when the episode is over. It keeps me sane. Long story short, after multiple hours of my life wasted on hold with customer service at FedEx and the vendors who ship with them, the conclusion was reached that they have absolutely no clue what happened to my items after they reached the South SF FedEx distribution center. In the end, the vendors I ordered the items through provided replacements, so I got what I paid for... eventually. However, I find it highly suspicious that I've only had issues with expensive items going missing when they reach this distribution center. Like, why is FedEx able to deliver the 24-pack of toilet paper I ordered, but not my MacBook or my furniture? In summary, I haven't figured out if the folks at this location are incompetent or corrupt. Either way, there is something going on here that needs to be managed and it seems no one at FedEx cares enough to do something about it. I came onto Yelp hoping to find a phone number for this SSF warehouse facility after weeks of multiple calls to global customer service, and found all these other one star reviews that helped confirm my already cemented perception that this facility in particular is one big cluster*. In my situation, I ordered a bed a few weeks ago that was set to be delivered prior to the holidays. I received a note that the bed was going to be delayed (at this point, I wasn't blaming FedEx, but more the vendor) and it was still before the holidays, so I was cool. Then another note stating the date was once again pushed back and now it was going to be delivered while I was out of town. I didn't want a bed sitting in my driveway for a week while the weather called for pouring rain, so I placed a vacation hold on the package. So far, easy peasy, pleasant experience. When I returned from our trip, I lifted the vacation hold and immediately contacted customer service to see when the delivery date would be. I was told they could see my vacation hold was lifted and that it was sitting in SSF warehouse, and should be delivered next business day. Excellent! Two days later, when it still didn't arrive, I called again and was told the warehouse was aware and it should come soon. No biggie, I thought. And I waited. Again. Fast forward two weeks and a few more calls later, I still have no bed and global customer service finally admitted they don't know what's going on as the package shows as scanned but not moving. They suggested I contact the website I purchased from (Wayfair) to open a claim, which I did and guess what they did? Simply call the exact same phone number I did, got another rep who shared the exact same information on scanning, and just said to keep waiting for the package. This time though, the rep gently suggested I try to come to the facility for an update to see if I could make any progress. I showed up to the facility where there were already a dozen people hanging around waiting for their updates. There aren't any signs to tell you what to do, but a bored looking security guard who was sitting down explained I had to come up to the window on the left and provide the employee my tracking number. I did so and waited. And waited. I think every fifteen minutes or so, they lower the temperature a couple degrees in order to encourage people to give up and leave because that place was like an ice box in Alaska. I did end up giving up at 6pm (closing time) after waiting an hour and seeing only one person receive their package out of the dozen people waiting. I sense that the people behind the counter probably just clock out and leave for the day without letting any of the people waiting know. Unfortunately given that most people don't have control over which shipping company their purchases come from, it's unlikely I can avoid using FedEx in the future. However moving forward, I know I will never use FedEx's vacation hold feature again - even if I had a soggy package when I returned, at least I'd have a package I could dispute with. I think once you click that request, all of those scheduled packages get tossed into a dumpster never to be seen from again. The other annoying thing is that FedEx refuses to provide you a phone number for this facility, or transfer your call so you can at least talk to a human there. The global customer service people are all very friendly and in the beginning I thought they knew what they were doing, but after several calls I realized that they must take zero notes on your call because things that were promised to me with other reps (they'll file a claim for me, they've marked it down that an order should be canceled, etc) are completely unknown to other reps the next time I call so I have to start over my story from the beginning. If there's a way to avoid routing your package through this FedEx facility, please do it. While no company is perfect, it is far easier to reach a human to help you with any other shipping service. read more

So how did that happen? Furthermore the package is severely damaged with the frame of the couch poking through and the fabric destroyed. Not once did FedEx contact me in these months to tell me where my package was. Check the photos to see the damage! Every negative review on here is absolutely true. Lazy fucks work here especially the delivery guys. I had THREE replacement packages sent to me by Chewy which is a pet food supplier since September 8th. It is now September 26th. No packages in sight. They lie about "attempting" a delivery but they don't attempt shit. I caught them red handed as I was watching them from my window. And I got you on camera my dudes. Don't worry, HR will be hearing from me very soon and will recognize those faces from the video. What they do is pretend to load a dolly from the truck with nothing on it, and put it back in the truck. And they drive off!! That is their definition of "attempted delivery."This happened multiple times already. I wouldn't want to load a 50 pound box either but I'm a paying customer and you should do your damn job. If you don't like it, then leave. Why on earth would you drive alllllllll the way to me just to park across the street and do absolutely nothing!!!!! Ordered a package requiring signature. Driver claims I missed my delivery because they don't have my unit number in my building. I explained to them it doesn't matter, you can't get into my building, you have to call me in order for me to sign the package. Spoke to customer service, they said it was in the notes and the driver would call me. Never happened, had the same conversation twice and then on the third conversation the supervisor in customer service said she called the distribution center and they said I could pick up the package the next day...I go to fedex ground and they sent my delivery out on a truck! These guys have a problem with internal theft. After reading several stories from others who have lost gaming consoles shipped to this location, I will add my story. Item arrived at this station on a Wednesday morning. Promised delivery date comes and goes and I open a trace. Operator informs me that it will be available on Friday. Drive there. No package. Inform me that there is a big backlog. I say fine and wait a few more days. Call trace specialist back. No response for a solid 7 days. I return to to check myself. Counter guy tells me that van line was cleared days ago and package is likely lost. Gaming consoles are not just 'lost', they get stolen. Sum it up, I had to do their job for them on tracking my package. FedEx customer service and corporate is completely unresponsive. Agree with all these reviews. No idea what is going on with this distribution center but packages are delayed weeks, just sitting there. I have 8 packages just sitting there, no movement. Sometimes it says "customer not available" or "future delivery date requested" which are not true! Someone called me back actually from local FedEx; number was 650-871-1105. She was extremely rude and ultimately hung up on me after telling me "to be patient and wait for the packages" and after I asked to speak to a manager. If anyone else has a contact, please post it here because no one picks up that number as I've called trying to contact someone again. Their 800 customer service number just keeps directing me to offshore rep who is no help. I've had the retailers also call FedEx and they contact their account rep who says they can't get ahold of this FedEx but left a message. When is FedEx corporate going go realize this local distribution center is extremely messed up!?
