She kept things moving, got us a great interest rate and allayed any concerns by working with us. Her response time and attention were so good that if we didn't know better we would think we were her only clients! Dylan was also very professional and great to work with. I want to reiterate this was the best mortgage loan process we have ever been a part of. Highly recommend Agave Home Loans.

Their performance throughout the entire process was utterly pathetic. They seemingly cannot read basic financial documents--specifically Shareworks statements. They saw and requested the exact same documents on over 10 separate occasions. Then, finally, on the 11th time, they actually decided to look at them and ask questions about the accounts and statements. This absolute incompetence caused a massive, last-minute pivot and wasted 2 entire months of my time just to get to that point. Combined with horrible communication along the way, it was an incredibly stressful and unprofessional experience. Save yourself the headache and take your business to a broker that actually values your time, communicates transparently, and knows how to review basic paperwork. Avoid them at all costs.

However we recently purchased a new vehicle and they gave us a 30 day window for our interest rate on the loan while we worked with the dealership to finalize. Despite remaining within the 30 day window, when we called back to inquire about financing with them, they told us they closed our file but acknowledged we were still a couple of days within their timeframe. Because they would need to run our credit again, we are going with someone else. I'm unsure which location Mike McGuire works out of, but he was particularly helpful and courteous, despite Desert Financial dropping the ball.

But I already gave Desert Financial $997 -- essentially my entire Social Security check -- toward what I owed them. Despite that, they reported me to ChexSystems, and now I'm having a very difficult time opening a checking account anywhere else. This is what makes me extremely angry. I'm not saying I don't owe the money. I'm saying there should be a reasonable and humane way to resolve a $2,000 debt without making it difficult for someone to access basic banking services. The way Desert Financial handled this feels less like a credit union working with a member and more like mobsters collecting a debt: pay us, or we'll make your financial life miserable. I will remember this experience for a very long time, and I hope other people think carefully about how this credit union handles members when they fall behind. $2,000 does not justify treating a person like a criminal. They use high pressure sales tactics to convince you they're giving you the best deal when the jig is up, and will feed you many things they think you want to hear just to agree to what they're offering. When we began the preapproval process with them, we only ever talked about a single DPA program where the down payment is forgiven. Never once were any other options discussed or offered, and our preapproval paperwork was for the primary loan only. Once we were under contract we found out that they had actually gotten us a high interest second loan for the downpayment- NOT what had in mind. They proceeded to go back and forth on several things, including whether or not my interest rate was locked, what the interest rate would actually be, price of closing costs, etc. Never was anything straight forward. I was continually asked to sign paperwork that was significantly different than what my LO was telling me my loan would look like, and that it would be changed later. They advertise as a no fee lender, but they either add in a $5000 broker fee to closing costs OR 1.5% on your loan (which equates to tens of thousands of dollars). Worst was, when I found another lender, I was subject to high pressure sales techniques sprinkled with contradictions and blatant inaccuracies. I'll spare you the detail, but I cannot not even tell you how many misrepresentations, coercions, and outright lies were used in my dealings here. Again, I thought my LO was a nice person and probably just trying to make it. However, this company is predatory. Don't walk, run. At the very least, do your OWN research, be skeptical and ask for ALL the details every step of the way, and compare your options with another lender. Once I worked with another lender I realized how straightforward and matter of fact they were, I realized how much stress trying to work with this lender was.

Not only were misc fees CUT that another company was wanting to charge us, but our rate was RIDICULOUSLY low. In addition to all this, Jordan was kind, responsive and on the ball when it came to closing our loan so fast. Even with a few bumps in the road (not from their doing), they were still able to blow timelines outta the park. I recommend them highly to all friends and family members!

At this time, we already decided to hire Momentum RE Group and continued to submit a buyer orientation form via their web. Side Note: it took less than 5-10 minutes to fill this out; I commend a business that is organized in this area-- quick and straight to the point. The questionnaire they have is a great tool to communicate desired/undesired locations, wants vs. needs, price point, monthly maximum, etc. The following day was our Buyer Consult Meeting. Kelly contacted us to go over the house hunting necessities: FlexMLS setup, a scheduler, etc.. We then signed some papers and watched a quick informative video of the home owner buying process. Kelly made sure we understood everything and made herself available to answer every question and concern we had. We were comfortable moving forward and Boom! Done! On the 25th, we were on the hunt for our first home together. 3/29/23: We found our home! By the way, the Showing Specialist, Jill, is SUCH a delight to work with. 4/1/23: We put down the earnest funds to secure the home and were officially in escrow 4/28/23: We closed and got the keys! 4/29/23: Packed up the Uhaul and moved on in Needless to say, this team is organized, fast-acting, ***knowledgeable and communicative. Kelly and Jill are amazing to work with and are such an asset to the Real Estate World. You NEED to have these women on your side. Thank you for everything, Momentum Real Estate Group!
