You should be able to give a doctor zero stars if they didn't help your situation get better. There's something wrong with the picture. If you leave unhappy you shouldn't have to wait hours to see a doctor especially when you have an appointment. That's how this doctor is. I had him in 1999 for a QME appointment. He was rude to could be And, I actually can see it on other people's faces because they had to wait so long. Long is a couple hours when you have an appointment shouldn't happen. My great primary care physician, Dr David Weiss ... recommended Dr Feder to me. I have severe osteoarthritis in my left hip. It's a disabling disease as I have to walk with a cane from the pain and limping. Prior to making an appointment with Dr. Feder, I wanted to get several treatment and cost questions answered. So, today I called and spoke with the Back Office Manager --- Michael Lindsey. Very impressive! He had detailed information about the 12+ treatment questions I asked him. He was very patient and professional (and caring!) in his replies. Can't say enough about Dr. Feder. I've been through several sports injuries and Dr. Feder is always there to take care of me and get me back on the court again. At times yes the wait can be past your appointment time but hey would you eat at a sushi place with no one at the tables? He sees a lot of patients and there's a reason for that. That means he's doing a good job. And he's taking the time that's needed for every patient so therefore you may have to wait past your appointment time. Imagine walking into a doctors office and you're the only one there. That would tell me that the doctor is not very popular. Experience wins out in my book. read more

Beware - this surgeon is selling surgeries - avoidable surgeries . He is even willing to misinform you to do so . He also intentionally , and callously causes you pain during an exam , hoping and assuming you will agree then that you need surgery . My joint never hurt before this , but hurt badly where he pressed into it for two days after he did this . Pretty unprofessional , definitely unwarranted . Another reputable surgeon was enraged with the surgery plan that Dr. Feder had me sold on - because I needed no surgery and would be ' worse off ' had I gone through with it . My appointment is at 3:30 got here at 3:05pm I've been waiting for almost 2 hours. Don't get why they give u a time to come if they are just going to make you wait. When they give you a room they make u wait another hour which is ridiculous. If you come here just know ur going to be here the whole afternoon. WARNING!!! Beware! "Doctor" feder is a dangerous, narcissistic, incompetent practitioner of medicine, and his office is a disorganized zoo. I am a professional motorcyclist and suffered a shattered left clavicle and damaged my left foot in a crash. A common injury in my field. During my first surgery with him and his wife, Dr Frey, both of whom performed separate operations on me the same day, he gave me a VERY serious staff/bone infection at my collarbone installing a small plate and several screws, which led to me having to endure months of extreme pain and two more serious suguries to finally correct the problem directly caused by his mistakes. All the while, he aggressively blamed me for the bone not healing. When, in fact, it was later proven to be the bone infection I contracted from him and his surgical facility that was the sole problem. Due to my own ignorance, I allowed him to perform a second surgery to install a larger plate after the first one broke in half a few weeks into my recovery. He chose to install a plate which was inappropriate for the proble, causing the break to leverage more pressure onto its weakest point, and it broke pretty soon after it was installed onto my collarbone. During the entire process, he was obviously bewildered by the fact that BOTH of the plates failed and the bone hadn't healed much at all. He made several remarks directly blaming me for the failures, and I also overheard hi. speaking of how "screwed" I was if he had indeed given me a staff infection. This went on for month, was unbelievably painful, caused me to lose opportunities, and led to a frozen left shoulder. Luckily, I was able to find another specialist, (Dr. Wiss), at Cedars-Sinai in Beverly Hills that knew exactly what the problem was, and thankfully was able to repair some of the damage done. That finally allowed me to begin to rehab my body and eventually make a return to riding amd pro racing. What should have taken 8-10 weeks, took over a year to come back from. My physical therapists were amazed that I was able to recover as much as I did, considering the repeated trauma I suffered with the failed surgeries and resulting frozen shoulder. I now have two large plates on my clavicle, one of which is normally used for the femur, along with 14 screws that will never be able to be removed. I suffer from a fair amount of pain and general discomfort over 3 years later. The foot surgery by Dr Frey was capped off with having to live with pins in two toes for several weeks in effort to keep them from distorting. That didn't work either, but at least I didn't have an infection there. One of them just doesn't work at all anymore, which does cause problems, but it obviously could've been worse. Long story short, if you have to have someone cut into your body, make sure it's neither of these folks. read more

Many orthopedic doctors practice sports medicine but few have Dr. Feder's expertise in both medical treatment and surgery. 12 years ago he performed delicate wrist surgery with perfect results. Two years ago he said that because my torn rotator cuff was less than 50% and I was over 50 years old he did not perform surgery and his treatment protocol got me back on the golf course in less than 3 months. Less than two weeks ago he repaired the meniscus that I tore in Scotland playing golf 3 weeks ago. My recovery ie remarkable due to his surgical skills. My PT, the great Karen Joubert was amazed at how quickly I have achieved mobility and strength. I'll be back on the course 4-5 weeks after surgery. I'm 69 years old. Dr. Feder and staff are amazing! In spite of seeing every type of injury, he still takes his time to understand your unique and individual situation. He's not a one size fits all type of doctor. I've had multiple knee surgeries performed by others and recently, the pain has been unbearable. I went in to see him and he said, "I don't want you to go through another surgery but, if you do I'd like this to be your last". - Those words were very encouraging. I was already walking the second day out and felt less pain after the surgery, than before. It's been three weeks and I don't feel anymore pain. Was referred here by a good friend of mine. I explained to them my situation and they understood fully. The staff is amazing, friendly and super helpful. They also have a team to win program that helps hs kids and those that don't have insurance so as you can imagine they can get busy at times but as a patient you gotta be patient as well. As a new patient, I called first thing Monday for an appointment for a fractured ankle and they gave me an appointment for Wednesday although I would have preferred to get in on a Tuesday. The office is near my house so I was happy to get the appointment at all. Then, they called me 1 1/2 hour before my actual appointment that they are out-of-network and that they can not accept my insurance who is only for in-network doctors. The nurse said, that their system was down yet quite honestly they had 2 1/2 days to verify my information. So, I had to start all over again finding another doctor today. Luckily, I found someone who is taking me in on Thursday yet I lost precious time in somebody looking at my injured ankle due to the lack of diligence of the reception desk which is disappointing. So, when you call as a new patient, make sure, they take your insurance. Lesson learned! read more

Waited over an hour for my appointment. Staff doesn't seem to care about you at all, doctor is nonchalant and clearly not invested in his patients. If you're not a professional athlete, he acts like you're not worth his time. Also BE CAREFUL and triple check your coverage. I found the doctor through an in network provider search, only to be told that the doctor is out of network. When I spoke to billing, they claim that they are always out of network and mentioned that in a document they have you sign at check in. Bottom line, you'll be charged an exorbitant amount for terrible service. read more

When I was 25 (6 years ago) I had a complicated ACL meniscus knee surgery. Lots of meniscus damage. I was in unbearable pain and the meniscus had gone into the joint. I wasn't happy with other surgeons approaches. 6 Years later, my knee and ACL are holding up wonderful. I was able to get back to basketball, baseball, tennis and every other sport I enjoyed within 6-8 months. I don't have any pain today. Happy with consultation and advice received. He is a bare bones kind of guy. I spoke with one of his patients that had ACLs repaired 20 years prior and also had no issues and is holding up well. Yes.. the office is crowded. No... I wouldn't go see him for most non surgical issues. But he lectures at UCLA, has performed surgery on many top end and olympic athletes. He saved my life in a manner of speaking. I am very fortunate to know Dr. Feder and all of his staff. I broke my ankle playing soccer and a friend referred me to this office. I have no family here so it was a scary time for me. I wish you could give negative stars, because one star seems to generous. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Feder for a hurt finger. My first appoint with him I was called to the back over an hour after my appointment time. I saw a PA who examined my finger and they took xrays. When Dr. Feder came in the room he spent maybe 3 minutes with me not allowing for me to completely explain my injury before he rushed out. He also spoke to the PA, who was actually nice and took her time with me, in a very condescending manner. Despite all this I scheduled my follow up appointment as advised. I arrived on time for my follow up appointment. About 10 minutes past my appointment time I walked outside to get some water and saw Dr. Feder strolling into the building from the parking lot. There were at least 5 other people in front of me waiting for him & he wasn't even in the office. I returned to the waiting room and waited as more and more time passed. Finally after an hour & 1/2 after my appointment time I decided to leave. It was very obvious my time was not important to them. Nobody even came out to explain the delay or to apologize. I left without telling them because I figured why give them this courtesy when they weren't giving me any courtesy. 2 hours after my appointment time I get a call from their office asking where I am!! I understand things come up when you are a doctor and that you sometimes get behind. But, an hour & 1/2 is unacceptable and even more unacceptable is the lack of communication. There are plenty of orthopedic doctors in LA, if your time is important and you like being treated respectfully I suggest using one that is not Dr. Feder!! read more

Dr. Feder and staff are outstanding. Not only have I utilized his services over the last five years but I sent my son and at least five friends to see him. He operates as a last resort rather than as the immediate option. I am a 51-year-old with bad knees and a bad shoulder and Dr. Feder has kept me running and playing volleyball. One of the best Ortho's in the South Bay. First went to him when my now 26 year old daughter was 10. She had a Salter fracture in her ankle and had gone to another doctor. When she finally got out of her cast, her gait was all wrong. That doctor did not prescribe any type of PT. When her gait did not normalize, I asked around and found Dr. Feder. He was satisfied that the fracture had healed, but was suprised at the length of time in a cast and then no PT. He prescribed PT and she was back to normal in no time. After that, he was our go-to Ortho. With 3 children and a husband in competitve sports, (numerous sprained ankles, torn meiscus, broken bones, compartment syndrome) we became quite familiar with Dr. Feder! He is not a cut happy surgeon, but is an excellent one once all other avenues have been tried to resolve your problem. Do you have to wait for him??? YES, but that is because he will try to fit you in, so bring a book and know it up front! He is also very philanthropic, giving many high school athletes quality care and scholarships. He's operated in me three times...the most recent being today. He is a no nonsense kind of Dr. He will tell you straight up. Yes, sometimes you have to wait, but have you ever waited in a line for something else that you thought was worth it?! He's not going to hold your hand and listen to your sob story. He will tell u what needs to be done and I guarantee, if anyone says they can fix the problem, you are best off choosing him. Think about it.....he doesn't accept insurance and still people (myself included) will wait for him....there's gotta be a reason right? It's because waiting is worth it! The staff at the front desk is amazing. And Bill, the X-ray guy is awesome. I started at the office over 10 years ago and most of the same staff is still there. His wife is in the same office and she does feet. She's operated on me too. She's great! I have found that recently, the wait times have become dramatically shorter than 10 years ago. He has a foundation to help underprivileged kids and also works on Olympians. He's a busy man and getting an appointment there is a blessing! read more
