It had gotten to the point where it was just a burden and I was wearing it up every single day. I absolutely hated my hair, I felt as if I always looked 'unkempt' and I often ended up in tears when trying to style and tame my hair. When I saw Scott, he reassured me that my hair would look entirely different by the end of the appointment and I have to say, I didn't believe him. But after a two hour session, my hair was BEAUTIFUL! My hair didn't even look like my hair anymore. It was so soft, the curls were so defined and there was little to no frizz. I'm telling you, Scott is a miracle worker. I had a few questions about products after my appointment so I texted him and he was more than willing to answer my questions. Scott's passion for helping women embrace their curly hair and teaching them how to care for/style it shows in every aspect of his business. The personalized method he taught me has given 'new life' to my hair and given me a confidence I've never had before. What's even better - I've made a new friend! Looking forward to watching Scott's journey as he changes curly headed lives across the world!

I've had the same stylist for over 15 years and if I didn't move out of state would have stayed with her forever. That's what I was looking for when I booked here, hoping to find another forever stylist. That's is not what I got. Although pleasant in demeanor, I sat in a chair for 4 hours and had five words said to me outside the usual, "we are washing your hair" directions in the normal course of service. 4 hours and they know nothing about me, why I'm there or who I am. I could have overlooked this awkward part of the experience if my hair was even decent, but it's not. The cut is uneven, and despite providing pictures of what I wanted color wise (a color I have had before many times and am very familiar with) before my appointment (required for a new client booking) and reviewing the photos at the appointment AND having a full discussion prior to starting, what I got is not even close. Not even in the same color family. I walked out with hair pretty close to what I walked in with (which I explicitly explained I hated) except shorter and uneven for a few hundred dollars. To give additional context, I had hair grown out for over 2 years with no color in the areas I was keeping since I was choosing to go shorter. I know how my hair lifts with lightener, I know how my hair tones and I know what it takes to get what I wanted. What I was asking was not unreasonable, but it does take a certain level of skill and understanding for how to do it right. I would have had more respect with a stylist communicating they weren't comfortable and booking with someone else than telling me they understood and not even coming close.

Long story short, I love Laura. If you have a couple minutes feel free to read about our epic…read morecosmetologist-client love story below :) After moving to NC in 2009, I started going to the stylist used by my mother and some of my other female family members. I was happy to have found someone so quickly who knew my hair type in so many ways. Unfortunately about 2 years later, that stylist broke my trust on personal level and I decided to find a new hair mama. Fast forward to August 2015 after several fails with new stylists--Laura came into my life. I had spoken with her a few times outside the salon and she was always extremely willing to discuss and educate me about products, techniques, etc. I knew I liked her as a person, but was nervous to be disappointed again. Then, a coworker walked in with a seriously fresh cut and color, thanks to Laura. I booked an appointment and haven't looked back since. When I come for appointments with Laura, we discuss photos I have sent her and what is required to achieve them for my hair type. I have tons of fine strands with a slight hint of body, on a good day. Sometimes we go for it, and other times we decide it's not a good option for my lifestyle and maintenance routine. My **FAVORITE** thing about having Laura as my stylist is her absolute realness with me, and genuine desire to make sure I am happy with my outcome. That said, I got adventurous and we worked with a new color last year which a week later I decided was not for me. I have never felt comfortable asking a stylist to fix anything before. I was able to message Laura because she is the kind of person who wants to do right by her clients. (Side note: I have had several color treatments since then and all to my complete satisfaction.) Most recently I have let Laura start tinting my brows for me, and I am ADDICTED to it. I tint about every three weeks and she always works me into her schedule, sometimes while processing color on other faithful clients. I could go on but am fully aware of how ridiculous this review has become. Laura is awesome on so many levels of cosmetology and often times my underpaid psychologist. My lady love here is fierce and I am not ashamed to admit it! If you want to work with someone who consistently seeks to build her knowledge and is passionate about her craft, book with Laura. The end.

I came prepared with a couple photos of the style I wanted - U shaped with long layers. The stylist understood perfectly and the haircut only took about an hour. Scissorhands is my family's favorite with my two younger brothers regularly getting haircuts here. Andy is not as friendly as Miss Kim in Morrisville, but we recently had a nice conversation about the Korean language since I just started studying it. The cut was masterful, for sure, and followed the example I showed in a photo saved in my phone. Shampoo was included at no additional cost and I did not have to wait in my latest visit around Friday noon. I used to pay around $30 to $35 for a regular men's cut but the latest service, Andy charged me $40 (not including tips). As for the atmosphere, it's more spacious than their old location (where they shared space with other salons) but it's not as spacious as Hair News. Nonetheless, it's in a good location by High House Road, close to Cici's Pizza, a small Walmart market, and just less than 5 minutes drive away from HMart.
