There aren't too many good breakfast spots in Florence but FE Pops is an option that is pretty good. It's definitely a locals restaurant for people meeting up and chewing the fat. It's nice inside for the most part with paintings on the wall which are for sale. It was, however, pretty cold. The temperature read 63° on the thermostat. Service was good but I was a little surprised that we had to ask for salt and pepper which is typically expected to be on a table when you sit down. Our breakfasts were good though and I'm definitely impressed with their eggs. Way too many restaurants over cook scrambled eggs but FE Pops nailed it. Fluffy and not dry. The bacon was perfect too but I wasn't too impressed with the sausage patties. It sort of had the "Brown and Serve" flavor. No big deal though. Grits only come with cheese which was a little disappointing but they were still good. Potato home fries were good. Definitely would come back here. read more

Have had several weekend brunches here which are always very good. Popular in our group are the shrimp & grits, breakfast burrito, skillets, BLT and salads - so basically everything on the menu. Today we sat outside and enjoyed yet another great meal while someone casually strummed their guitar and sang. I don't know if they were providing entertainment in an official capacity or just vibing but it was perfect atmosphere either way. Just don't go in a hurry as service is always friendly but generally casual and relaxed. New ideal Saturday morning is FE Pops followed by Palmetto Bakeshop. Such a perfect brunch stop on our road trip. Everyone got what they wanted--from vegetarians to meat lovers. Brunch menu has about 7 options, meaning all are good. When I say loud I was talking about people taking. If a restaurant or other places with lots of people talking only has hard services then the sounds bounce off of ceiling and walls making it very loud. Some places have soft panels on the walls and or ceiling to prevent sounds from bouncing all over the place. read more

Not sure if it is just high quality beans, a high quality barista, or a combination of both but the latte I had was perfect: velvety foamed milk and nice, mild, non burnt tasting coffee. We went for Saturday brunch. They ran out of potatoes, which wasn't horrid, but our server was. I didn't realize that I wouldn't get asked if I needed cream or sugar for my coffee as most places automatically bring it. She didn't ask and brought me black coffee, which was ok, but she hardly ever checked on us at all. My husband had to go in and ask for creamer, which she never brought, so I finished the black coffee and finally caught her to give me a refill with cream and sugar. The worst part was that the server for the tables next to us was on it and served her folks so well. We literally saw her pass by us 4x as much as we saw our own server, which was a huge disappointment. I'm sure the place is great, and the food was ok, but our particular server was a big zero as far as service goes. So disappointed in that aspect! We went to F. E. Pop's for brunch. We sat there for 20 mins and no one even brought us a menu. I had to ask. Then after sitting there I got up and asked if we had a sever and she said we are trying. And I was like, the manager needs to get in the trenches and help. He was walking around with a cup of coffee like he was making friends.We were trying to help small restaurants in Florence, SC because they have struggled since the pandemic started and we didn't even have eye contact made with anyone working there.
