I believe my walker sometimes lengthens the time of the walk in order to pick up another dog, which is a bonus! You pay the bill monthly, and the walker marks a chart in your home every day so you know she was there. SERVICE: My walker, Andrea, is friendly and reliable. My dog loves her, and she is very good with him. I was a little worried about entrusting a stranger with keys to my home, but upon meeting JJ (the owner) and Andrea, my fears were immediately allayed. One of the great benefits of this service is that JJ gives helpful advice on animal behavior. My dog is challenging to walk, and JJ advised switching to a different harness and using certain training techniques to help him increase his confidence. Our walker also uses these techniques, so he gets consistent training. The advice and the training was spot on, and my dog's behavior has noticeably improved. I am so grateful to have walkers who are interested in creating a happy and healthy life for my dog, not just dragging him once around the block. Having a reliable dog walker who really cares about my dog means the difference between going to work feeling guilty and worried about leaving my dog and going to work confident that my dog is well-cared for. That is incredibly valuable to me, and I recommend this service to any pet owner. NOTE: Dog Walking DC also does pet boarding, but I have never used that service.

By big-city standards, the price is certainly right too. Moreover, Dog Walking DC also boards dogs when you're travelling. On our last trip, we sent our dog to JJ's rather than the nearby kennel, and she came back freshly bathed and brushed, and incredibly happy-- it made us feel like we'd almost been neglectful dog-owners ourselves! Because JJ keeps the dogs at her house, there isn't always room for boarding if you don't ask ahead of time (and she has cats, which make some dogs manic), but we will definitely go to her with all of our boarding needs whenever we can.

The operation has a distinct small-business feel with competitive rates for the neighborhood. There are no hidden fees and you can cancel/schedule afternoon walks as late as the morning of. You can join even if you just need the occasional walk, or if you need walks every day. We have not had any cancellations or scheduling difficulties, which is such a relief after many last minute cancellations with Wag before we started with UnderDogs. They have been communicative and understanding through COVID-19 and give us the opportunity to pay our walker directly even if we aren't using their services. Our walker has been Kwame - while we've only met him once, our dog clearly absolutely loves him. The only downside is that, unlike Wag or other more app-based services, there's no way of knowing remotely exactly when the dog is picked up and dropped off. However, since we have no concerns about reliability of the company or walker, it has not been an issue.

They have the same regular walker everyday, and when she comes over, our dogs are so excited to see her. The whole team is wonderful to work with. Last minute changes? No problem. Home sick and need to text the morning of? Great. I also love their boarding process. It's so nice to know your dogs are going to stay at someone's home and not boarded at some facility. When our dogs go to "Uncle Greg's", they hop right up on the couch and make themselves at home. I desperately wish they serviced our new area. Could not recommend them enough!

As a daily walker on the Crescent Trail and through neighborhoods in the DMV area, I feel compelled…read moreto share my concerns about Community Happy Dogs. I often see their dog walkers--recognizable by their yellow shirts--walking six to eight dogs at once, all tethered to short leashes, even during extreme heat. Watching these dogs struggle to walk in sync, often yanked if they try to sniff or explore, is truly heartbreaking. Dogs are curious, sensory-driven animals. They deserve the opportunity to enjoy their walks--not just as exercise, but as enrichment. It's concerning to witness such large groups being led in rigid formation, with little to no freedom for natural behaviors like sniffing, stopping to pee, or interacting calmly with the environment. I urge this business to reconsider their approach and limit the number of dogs per walker, especially during hot weather. Not all dogs have the same pace, endurance, or needs. Walks should be about more than logistics--they should be a source of joy and stimulation for our canine companions. I understand that reducing group size might impact profits, but ultimately, dog welfare must come first--especially for a company that claims to care about the animals they serve. I hope this feedback is taken in the spirit it's offered: as an encouragement to put the dogs' best interests at the heart of your business practices.

I spent ages combing through all the various services and Rovers in my area, and I'm SO glad I finally found Baby Got Bark. Claire was incredibly responsive when I sent the initial interest email, and she sent our walker, Jules, out to meet us the next week. We knew it was true love when Jules walked in and said "That dog is a HYENA and hyenas are my favorite animal". Most people call her a tiger, but she is clearly a hyena. Jules has come to walk my pup three days a week for the past few months, and we couldn't be happier. Based on the photos Jules sends after every walk, it is very clear that Suki has a new best friend. Jules is quick to send an update after each walk, and is very responsive to communication in the Portal - even for unrelated tasks I forgot in the morning rush, like taking the blanket off the bed so Suki can't destroy it, as she is prone to do... Claire accepts my walk requests immediately, and the price is lower than anything else I was considering. We're so relieved to know Suki is taken care of and happy while we're at work. (I recently moved out of the area and was quite sad to leave them!) Both Jackie and Nancy were a dream to work for, largely because they are very effective at keeping their business functioning optimally, in every way. Every interaction I have with them is pleasant, smooth, and successful - whether it is to work on scheduling, or to handle a challenge with a dog. With their positive attitude every challenge was always easily resolved. DogOn Fitness is a company that consists of animal lovers. Every handler and trainer I've worked with there is very passionate about animals, and I've always seen that the animals are treated with the utmost care, respect, and concern. Sometimes we deal with a dog's difficult behavioral issues, and when the solution is not immediately apparent, we will have an ongoing discussion amongst every person responsible for that dog's care, where we share our stories and strategies and bounce ideas off of each other until we find something that works. For example, I worked with a large dog who would just decide to sit down and not cooperate during walks. Of course the dog would eventually have to make her way home, and us handlers have a schedule to keep, so this poses quite a problem. Ideally we did not want to use any force, like pulling on her leash to get her up. A few of us worked together and found a wonderful solution - playing with a tennis ball will get her going again! I was so relieved to have such caring support during a challenge. In such circumstances I fear that many people may not bother and would just do something like pulling on the leash until she gets up - instead of working to find a way that causes no distress to the dog. They have open and active communication that makes it very easy to successfully solve problems, so I really didn't see problems slip! And thus, my entire experience there was quite wonderful and all and all I can't speak highly enough of Nancy, Jackie, and all of DogOn Fitness!
