I tried several recommendations, but either they were too fresh from beauty school or they were too expensive for their skill level. Hottmess was along my commute to work, and I had driven passed it a million times. One day I decided to take a chance and stopped by to make an appointment. When I walked in, a few customers were there chatting with the owner Mandie, while she was cutting hair. I explained to Mandie that I had been on the hunt for a hairdresser that I can trust to cut my funky short hair with mad cowlicks and maybe play with some color eventually. The other ladies piped up "Mandie, she's right up your alley." I thought that was a good sign and booked an appointment. My hair had grown out a bit since I hadn't had a haircut in a few months, so I decided to try a mullet for something different from my typical pixie. Mandie did a great job and handled my cowlicks like a seasoned pro. I told her I prefer a razor cut but again, I never felt like I could trust previous stylists with a razor. Mandie definitely knows how to razor cut too. A few weeks later, the hair around my neck was annoying me, so I booked another appointment and experimented with another style I had never tried; a pompadour. Mandie nailed it again and I have gotten more compliments on this hair style than I've ever gotten. I highly recommend Hottmess Beauty Bar for great cuts with a skilled stylist. I haven't colored my hair yet because I'm likening the way my salt & pepper is growing in, but I have seen photos of Mandie's color work and it looks amazing.
