We just went to Grand Cafe Fauchon and it was the biggest rip off ever!!! We wanted to order A la carte just eggs, toast, and a coffee or orange juice. So we ordered that and they kept bringing us things and we thought oh this is nice...little did we know that when they bill came each of our meals was 39 euros. They charged us for the breakfast "deal" without even telling us! Wish we would have known, because we would have left! They didn't even offer us everything that was in the menu (see photo)! My dad ordered waffles and they were out so he ordered the French toast and didn't like it so he sent it back and they didn't take it off the bill! When the bill came it was 117 euros for 3 of us, and when we tried to explain to them that we weren't offered everything they didn't seem to care!! America is definitely much better with customer service! The food wasn't even good!! Don't fall into this trap!! Crap!!! read more

Like I have stated on different reviews my daughter love macaroons...she's a macaroons monster! Lol While strolling the streets in Paris, we stomped with this place, and of course she immediately went inside. We bought her 16 macaroons for 34€ . She decided to pick the flavors, since they also have the pre packed boxes. I was surprised that she gave me the chance to pick 3 for me, how lucky I was! Lol She picked vanilla, chocolate , framboise, Rose, red velvet,pistachio and I picked salted caramel. They were really good! But our favorite macaroons will be Ladurré. read more

Loved the macaroons we bought and they stayed fresh for a almost a week. We kept them in the fridge and brought them to room temp before enjoying them. Pricey but worth it! read more

As this restaurant was close to our lodging, our family decided to try this restaurant so we made a reservation for a Tuesday night @ 7pm. It appeared to have a gathering inside, but since we had a reservation, we assumed that other diners would be welcomed in another section. We were received with the most unwelcoming response upon meeting the hostess. She informed us that they would not receive us due to hosting a private party. Upon informing her that we had a reservation and showing the confirmation email, she summoned her manager. The manager reiterated that they would not seat us even though we had a reservation. Our irritation stems mostly from not even being offered an alternative or consolation, such as an invitation to reschedule the reservation or even an apology. One can understand someone forgetting to discontinue the reservations online. However, one cannot understand the absence of an apology or the offer to host our family for another time. This restaurant fails dismally with respect to customer service and grace. read more

This was another stop to my Paris Macaron craze! One of the things to do when you visit Paris is to taste the Parisian cuisine and chocolatiers. At Fauchon we had bought macarons and eclairs. We tried a variety of flavors like Framboise, Caramel Chocolat etc. The macarons were perfect and they had a creamy center that easily melted in your mouth! Everything there was exquisite. As for the price of the desserts, well the cost of 8 macarons was €18. We also had the Saint-Honoré Eclair which had a whipped cream with Bourbon-Madagascar vanilla which gave it a very distinct flavor and aroma to it. The cost of that was €7.00. My husband thought that the desserts here were too expensive, I told him, but of course anything that has top quality deserves to be. read more

WOW, this place is fantastic. It's one of the highlights of my Paris trip! I ventured in the first day I was in Paris and had to tear myself away from their beautiful dessert displays. I walked out with some macaroons because, well hello, had to try them! They were delectable and I'm still dreaming about them. I came back the next day to try their breakfast (in the upstairs restaurant). This place is adorable!! For about 22€ we got what you'd basically get at a typical tea time: fresh baguettes, madeleines, 2 macaroons, smoked salmon and cheese skewers, 3 delicious Fauchon spreads, and definitely more that I'm forgetting. Also included coffee (cappuccino, latte, etc.), and your choice of fresh juice. Everything was divine! The service was amazing! She spoke Spanish (phew - none of us knew French) and made our time just wonderful. Never rushed us, even tho thinking back, we probably should have rushed ourselves so we could do more sightseeing instead of spending 2.5 hours here! Yet, still worth it. The shop has so many delicious treats. Their cookies (which I actually bought from the airport) are ridiculously addictive. Make this a stop. You won't regret it! read more

Fauchon is a store that sells confectionaries, chocolates, teas, coffees, etc., located near the Madeleine Cathedral. It's very famous and is supposed to be good for their teas. Hediard is across the street and has small grocery items and is supposed to have good jams and small items good as gifts. I stopped by both in Jul 2007 during my trip to France. read more

So suppose you hand just gobs of money to spend on entertaining, and exquisitely trained taste buds that require only the very finest salmon, the most savory cheeses, pastries that are lighter than air, and a narrow palette of wines - carefully chosen to go with the other ingestible goodies in the store. Ah oh, price is no object, so we'll simply ask twice what you'd typically expect to pay! Fauchon is your promised land. This is definitely one of those places that would subscribe to the old adage "If you have to ask how much it costs, you should just get the hell out!" And to be sure, the aromas, the presentation, the elegance... I was ready to mortgage the house right there and bring home dinner for the family! We DID take out a small loan for a caramel éclair and a couple macarons. Extraordinary doesn't begin to describe the sensation! It's an amazing place. I was so disappointed that Fauchon closed it's Manhattan store. So of course I headed to Fauchon during a trip to Paris. This store was very crowded with a hectic atmosphere, which was different from the quiet affair that was the store in NYC. I enjoyed looking around at all their products. There is a place to dine hear but I didn't stay. I picked up some things to bring home. read more

the name sounded familiar, im sure this was open in NYC at one point in time but i never went there so when i walked past it in Paris i surely went inside. The macarons were good (Pierre Hermes is still my # 1) 3 stars and the chocolate mouse thing was 4 stars so in all honesty this place deserves 3.5 stars! read more

I looooove this store!! From the chocolate to the tea to the foie gras. This place blew my socks off! I love Paris. My cousin lives in Paris and he took my boyfriend and me here because he said "You must try it!!" I trust him. Thank goodness I did. The chocolate is so exquisite! Even the flavors you may question (like almond & lemon or lime) are incredibly delicious!! We also brought the 6 different Fauchon chocolate bars home and we're so in love with them. Even my mother, who isn't a huge sweets fan, has been sneaking the chocolates that I bought for her. The macarons- WOW! I'd say there are some flavors from Fauchon that are a step above Laduree. There's even a copper colored one that was almost too pretty to eat, but I did anyway. But wow, Fauchon...you rock. read more

It started with a search for macarons and turned into one of my favorite lunches in Paris! If you can manage to make your way through all the chocolate, macarons, tea and other yummy treats in the store, you can slowly make your way towards Le Cafe Fauchon! You will not be able to miss all the beautiful pink and silver. They have a wonderful Prix Fixe menu. My personal favorite was the French Fish & Chips and the Foie Gras. So delicious. I am so glad the macarons led me to this gem cafe! I was even able to stock up on all types of goodies for later in the shoppe downstairs. read more

This place is so amazing, like going to a fashion show and a pastry shop at the same time. I'm sure many will disagree, but I actually like Fauchon even more than Laduree. Well, I'll put it this way...for the classic and timeless, go to Laduree. For the modern and trendy, go to Fauchon. Actually, go to both so you can see the difference yourself! I didn't taste any of the Fauchon pastries but bought some framboise and peach teas which were both delicious and came in the most gorgeous tins. I went for a small, parisian breakfast. The store itself offers a unique feeling. The croissants and the coffee specialities were quite good but a bit overpriced but I guess in general it's a nice place to have a small breakfast. What i also liked is, that theres a mixture of locals and tourists... you don't feel like in a tourist trap. read more

this review is for the store only as i have yet to try any of the goodies that was purchased. lots of chocolates, biscuits, teas, jams, honeys, foie gras, wine, coffee, oils, and other culinary goodies to choose from. the packaging is undoubtedly beautiful, what's even better is that some of the goods are wrapped in fauchon wrapping paper for the same cost! a great place to come shop for french gifts if you're willing to spend an arm and a leg! unfortunately, the staff here was less than helpful, which was surprising since the place is not cheap!...they stand around as if you are invisible...snobby staff for a snobby store? you have to approach them for any kind of service. again, this review is for the store only and not for any of the food! read more

I LOVE macarons...I'm obsessed with them and couldn't wait to get my well manicured hands on them the minute I stepped off the plane in Paris. Our hotel was a one minute walk from this location, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw all the pretty macarons modeling in the window waiting for me to snatch them up. The pastries from this place were AMAZING. My family and I came here pretty much as soon as they opened in the morning, and the place was already packed with customers, both locals and tourists. The store itself had beautiful interior decor and reminded me of a chic designer boutique. They sell everything from foie gras to macarons to baguettes. We bought two almond croissants, two regular croissants, a palmier, a baguette, a pain au raisin, and two smoked salmon millefeuilles to share for breakfast. Everything was fantastic. The croissants were some of the best I've ever had. They were so fresh and buttery, and they had the perfect crunch on the outside while remaining chewy on the inside. The highlight of my breakfast, however, was the smoked salmon millefeuille. They were flavorful yet light, crunchy yet creamy. Words cannot describe the layers of flavor and texture contained within this delicate piece of savory pastry. They were the most expensive items we bought for breakfast, with each millefeuille costing around 9€, but the experience was so worth the price.
