The shell-shaped cakes were sweet & spongy, as to be expected, but not markedly special. A passable pick-me-up while we strolled hilly Montmartre, but after one try, I'm not in a rush to return.

Each one had that signature texture ...a delicate shell with a soft, creamy center. The history... Ladurée was founded in 1862 by Louis-Ernest Ladurée and evolved into one of the first Parisian tea salons. The now-famous Ladurée macaron didn't appear until decades later, when Pierre Desfontaines, a descendant of the founder, created the modern version... two delicate shells filled with ganache.
