I've used Fatman several times now. The first time was one morning when I noticed water leaking from my water heater. I called and they fit me into their schedule immediately. Within a couple hours I had a new water heater installed and have had no issues with it at all. I also called Fatman when I noticed a slow leak in our guest bathroom faucet. I had a leak some place which caused a wet spot on my hallway floor. With my work schedule it was so difficult to get someone out to help me locate where it was coming from. Chris called me several times to try to set up an appointment. I just was not able to make our schedules match up. Chris was able to get a key from my landlord and make a visit to my home. Yet again a unsuccessful appointment. The key did not work. Chris was so persistent to help me that he made a visit to my home on a Friday afternoon. No one wants to work late on Friday. But he did. He came and located my problem which turned out to be a stopped up pipe to my furnace. He then changed a cracked nut under my sink in the kitchen which was leaking. And to top things off he assisted me with hanging my flat screen tv. I was having difficulty doing it by myself. Chris, who is the owner is absolutely wonderful. After another plumber's incompetence and lack of professionalism left us without hot water for 2 weeks, we hired Fatman. The plumber came out and replaced our eater heater within a few hours. Labor charge to replace a 50 gal electric water heater was around $700. This does NOT include the cost of the replacement tank. The service was friendly, and professional. After posting an unfavorable review of my experience, the owner called me direct to apologize and quickly scheduled another plumber to come out and fix the issues. The plumber arrived on time and all issues were fixed. ORIGINAL---We used Fatman Plumbing for a few leaking faucets we had in our house. They were responsive in coming out, very friendly and seemed knowledgeable. But within a few days one of our faucets they had fixed started leaking again. I called them and they came out to fix it. A week later the other faucet they fixed started leaking. I called them and no one picked up so I left a message. I must have called and left 3 or 4 messages over a month span and no one returns my call. They don't stand by their work...I would not recommend. read more

Wonderful company, highly recommend! My office toilet got severely clogged on New Years Eve just as I was trying to leave! I was bummed because that meant I was going to have to stay at work later to wait for a plumber. They came and got the job down in under an hour of calling them! Last time we'll use FatMan. Was told the $87 service call fee would be applied to the service. It wasn't. They also had an extra fee of $48 for customer service. Literally for customer service. You have to pay this company for customer service. They charged us $760 for a job quoted $625. Will be fighting this fee. read more

"faithful and trusted" is a misleading motto. neither faithful nor trusted. no one showed for a scheduled appointment window. on may 18, i scheduled an appointment for a quote of plumbing services as part of a bathroom renovation. i received an email confirmation, and a text prior to my appointment date. the text read "david" would be at my home on the 28th between 9:00am - 11:00am. i called at 10:30am to confirm the scheduled appointment would be honored and explained i would not be available past noon due to another appointment. debbie confirmed and instructed that i wait for a text notifying me of arrival time. as i was still waiting at 10:50am i called the office again and left a voicemail. debbie returned my call informing that chris was called to a family emergency. she repeatedly said this "never happens". david. chris. whomever. i was provided an arrival window which was not met. then, an "emergency". fact is, they weren't going to make their scheduled window. a professional option would have been to call and offer another date. this company is unreliable. a waste of my time, but good that i found out before using this company. read more

I had Fatman Plumbing out to install an insinkerator and repair a leak for a vanity I recently had a tile company install. There were no issues with the insinkerator. However, they took a look at the vanity and made a couple changes that they said would stop the leak. A few days after they left, the leak started again. One of the individuals gave me their direct number in case there were issues. I called twice and left messages and have not received a call back. When they were over, I explained to them that I regretted not getting a licensed plumber to install the vanity in the first place, so the lack of response had added to the frustration of this project. Now, I have to go with another plumber, which will cost another $89. I cannot recommend this company. They should take ownership of the issue they came to fix and not ignore their customers. ***5/31/2022 Update - the owner Chris called and left a message that he was livid at the behavior of the plumber. They probably can fix a toilet but from my experience are not plumbers. Unreturned messages at the office etc. the guy that came today was completely useless. He was honest about what would work and what wouldn't and didn't just put things in to get the job complete. He does it right! This is the 2nd time we have used Chris for a plumbing need. He replaced all our toilets the first time and did an excellent job. This time he replaced our hot water heater which had been installed improperly by the builder and was not heating the water properly or quickly. He came in, brought the new water heater and parts, finished in a couple of hours and left the garage neater than what it had been! You couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable and caring person. Chris is honest on what needs to be done and gives you options along with his recommendation. It is so nice to have hot water for more than a 10 minute shower after working in my yard all day and being covered in dirt. Short review: amazing, honest, trustworthy, fair pricing, efficient, highly recommend! My experience...Shannon squeezed us in on short notice (like 10 hours!!) while under contract for our new home when we needed a complete plumbing inspection top to bottom. She was so sweet and pleasant, never making us feel like an inconvenience. Chris arrived on time and seriously noticed every little detail. He spent atleast 2 hours here! I mean, he noticed variation of grout colors and the smallest chip on a bathtub ever! He clearly knows what he's doing. He was so thorough during the inspection, pointing out everything and even took the time to explain what things were and if it was something that was important or could wait to be repaired. Best part of that visit? He only charged did a service call...no high weekend or emergency fee! We then hired them to do several repairs, and again a wonderful experience. He was quick and efficient but also knew exactly what he was doing. Never felt rushed or like something was missing. He showed me repairs and explained everything and let me ask questions until I understood. Fatman plumbing was extremely professional, very competively priced (but to be honest, I felt so comfortable with him and his opinion that I didn't once feel the need to seek a second opinion) and really knowledgeable about everything. Never once did I feel like I was being taken advantage of or like I was being sold unnecessary repairs. I asked advice on him installing new fixtures and instead of selling me his services, he gave me tips to do it myself! That's an HONEST businessman! He even came early during one appointment and we felt so comfortable with him that we gave him our garage passcode so he could start before we arrived home. I can only give this a three star. I have hesitated putting a review out there, however, my conscience continues to speak to me. I asked for references on a good plumber for the Waxhaw area, Fatman came highly recommended. I called and couldn't get worked in for over a week. I was told by the receptionist or the scheduler that I would get a call if there was a slot that opened up. My water heater was leaking in the garage and I was concerned about the water pooling in that area. I called several days later to see if an opening had become available and was told (rudely) that I had already been told that my request was on the schedule and that I would be called if there were any earlier openings. The scheduler was rude, showed a lack of patience and hung up on me after I was told that my time would be better spent going to the local Lowes store to pick up my water heater. The day of my appointment (left work early) I was home and ready, but evidently the plumber was not. I did not receive a call, an email, a carrier pigeon.... nothing. Two hours passed and I called the office again. Evidently, there was a "hiccup" in the schedule and Fatman would be late. Around 7pm he finally arrived, with his girlfriend in tow, I did need the water heater replaced. I was charged the emergency call fee, which I paid just to get this ordeal done. At that point and time I didn't have the energy to bicker with him. Although it cost me more, I was just ready to go to bed. As in every business, we all have bad days. I don't expect any more from an independent owner than I would from a huge corporation. Anyone that works in customer service or selling goods are subjected to scrutiny. I would certainly give this plumbing company an opportunity to redeem themselves. I also believe that when you are in the business of customer service, people on the flip side of that coin, want to be heard. I would suggest that he leave his girlfriend home as I am not here to entertain nor babysit. I see the photos of his van and other customers. I don't recognize those photo's as it doesn't look like what he is doing now. Not the same name, not the same trucks, not the same area. read more

Due to acidic water leading up to my water softener, I had to have the plumbing replaced up to that point. Fatman rep Brian came out and did the work a couple hours after contacting them. The following day, we noticed a "puddle" where the work had been performed. I called them (a little surprised & upset) and they sent someone out that afternoon. The culprit was a valve fitting to the well tank where a casting (presumably weak when made) had cracked. Initially, they wanted to charge for the svc. call but I made the case that while the casting may have been that way since new, it had not given way for almost 13 yrs until the recent repairs were made and the item was "shanked on" with wrenches. I paid the svc. charge, but the tech also advised that he would let the owner know of my disappointment. Sure enough, the following morning I received a call from Chris (the owner) and after we discussed the situation, he agreed to tear-up the check for the second call. In short, these folks are the "real deal" and stand behind their work. Sometimes, you just have to rationally work through the issues together in order to get mutual satisfaction!
