But, the attendant just pushing dirt around the floors with a broom, and occasionally mopping is simply not the thorough cleaning that gives me confidence. I understand that cannot be a fun, desirable job, though it provides plenty of time for personal phone calls... The only way to describe it is it smells like they were left near a grease trap and reek of grease odor. The second issue (minor compared to the odor) is much higher here than at other cleaners in the area so for these two reasons, I will very likely not be returning to this place.

Not for exceptional service, not for anything above and beyond--just for the standard service you're already paying for. It creates an awkward, pressured moment where you're expected to tip for something that has never traditionally involved tipping. That's not customer service--that's shifting the responsibility of paying employees onto customers. If prices need to go up, then raise prices. Be transparent about it. But adding a tip screen to a basic service transaction feels misleading and leaves a bad taste. There are plenty of other cleaners that don't put customers in this position, and I'll be taking my business to one of them. I'd strongly encourage the owner to rethink this approach if they value long-term customer relationships.
