After a very distasteful experience at another haunted house last year & with this being an hour…read morefrom me, I was apprehensive. I of course read a handful of reviews that gave me the push & I am so glad I did. This will definitely be somewhere I go again next year. I love getting scared & used to frequent halloween horror nights, so I can say with confidence all of the houses were scary! You can tell effort & thought was put into each house, plus a sufficient amount of actors in each one that what made it so fun! I was impressed with the level of professionalism each ticket attendant had, with a smile on their face. Rather than having us enter with multiple parties in line, it was done individually so allows to have a more tailored experience w.o it being ruined in front of you & having people up your butt behind rushing you (that drives me crazy & is so insanely rude). With that said, the line does go much slower, so I ended up adding on the fast pass right there at the kiosk, which was well worth it. I was alone so the first house I was getting bored waiting lol. Parking was easy, & even though it was off the beaten path, didn't feel sketchy driving there at night. Even the porta potties were clean & maintained. One thing I would ask to improve is adding tables to sit. Can't wait to go back!

We've been to several Scare for a Cure events and highly recommend this experience. Not only is it…read morefor a good cause, but it's also a high quality production. This is not your traditional haunted house, they will touch you and cover you in fake blood. It's a bit far out of the way, so be sure to eat before you go. Also, I would recommend wearing clothes that are comfortable and won't be ruined by fake blood. We didn't plan ahead and forgot our towels, which was a big mistake due to the downpour as we were leaving.

Everyone working is a volunteer, so shout out to them for devoting their time and energy to a good cause. The haunted house was very interactive- lots of walking, crawling and getting blasted with blood. Dress accordingly. (We came in painter suits which helped to an extent but maybe a pancho of some sort would be a better choice! ) The show/ haunted house has a different theme each year , this year they did a Celtic festival , scavenger hunt and stories out of a few books which was a great concept, had you read the books. Nobody in my group had read any book except for Alice in wonderland so we were a bit confused through out the whole thing. Also I didn't find it to scary overall since I was just confused the whole time lol. If your a reader& had read these books, I bet this is 10/10 a great experience. At the start of the haunted house there is a paper and pencil to write down the things you're looking for in the scavenger hunt but the platform in that area wasn't smooth which made writing difficult. Also the pencil was a bit hard to see, not a big deal - just a note for the team. I will return next year as I've heard great things about the past shows. And love to support the cause! 4 stars for the effort and number of different rooms , the decor and performance. -1 star for the lack of fright at this haunted house

We had a fun night at Scream Hollow. I think I went in without expectations and with a fun group of…read morefriends, which led to a memorable time. The good: the 4 haunted houses and hayride are legit. The decor is really cool. I could have walked around looking at everything much longer. There's a DJ when you walk in playing some good tunes and the jump scare actors were pretty creepy! It's like a mini Halloweentown. Improvements: they have the potential to make this place even better. 1. They had closed one of the bars and were slammed at the one bar open, causing the bartender to rush everyone and be quite rude because they were under stress. If the line were shorter I would have gotten a second drink. 2. The food was just ok. Kind of expected from this place but they could easily purchase more quality ingredients or partner with a food truck. 3. They could use a few more jump scare actors. The ones in the asylum and alien haunted house were so fun. The clown one had so much potential, but they did not capitalize. Have creepy clowns walking around! A few tweaks and this place could be amazing and even more popular.

This is why I found myself making the 1.5 hour drive up from San Antonio to check out the Scream Hallow Halloween Park located in the small town of Smithville. We arrived around 7:30 and had no problem entering the gates after showing our tickets. I loved how immersive the property felt ...it truly did feel like a mini Halloween theme park. There were 4 haunted houses on the property, as well as a haunted hayride to enjoy. Entry into the Halloween Museum and an Artifact House were an additional charge on top of entry into the haunted houses. Since the museum was my main driver for coming, that's what I wanted to start with first. Alas, it was a bit of a letdown. It was two rooms and seemed more of a collection of Halloween memorabilia than anything else. I could tell that they were attempting to tell some sort of narrative but I was really unclear what some of the exhibits were supposed to represent. i think more (and better) exhibit signage could go a long way here. As the for haunts themselves these were pretty hit or miss with me. My friend and I both agreed that hands down our favorite was the spaceship/alien themed haunted house. It had really cool props and staging and felt like the most actors/jump scares. THe runner up for us was the coven/witch themed haunted house. The clown haunted house and asylum were both pretty unmemorable and had similar vibes. The hayride was a bit of a joke so I was bummed that we saved it for last, but oh well. Overall, every single haunt (with the exception of the UFO) could have used significantly more actors or jump scares. There were long periods of lots of walking with nothing happening. In addition to the haunted attractions and museum, there is also a gift shop, restaurant, a DJ, and 2 bars serving wine, beer, and seltzers. We grabbed some pizza, fries, and the adult grilled cheese. It was all mediocre. The fries tasted like baked school cafeteria cuisine and the White Claw I ordered from the bar next the bathrooms (which the women's was out of order so they were steering us towards porta potties) was warm. Parking is free and there was plenty of it so that's definitely always a plus. Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance at Scream Hallow a ton, I just wish the haunt has been consistent in the experiences they provided and the museums had more substance to it. I wouldn't make the drive up from San Antonio every year to visit but I can see myself coming back in a few years.

This one is much bigger with rides for the kiddos, plenty of photo opportunities, food trucks, live music, a small petting zoo, a train ride, and wait for it a beer garden. Our crew went on Halloween day and we were surprised at the lack of crowds. We were able to park close to the entrance and we never waited to go on any of the rides. The rides had seen better days but our granddaughter had a blast on the tea cup, train, and slide rides, and that's all that matters. We snacked at the Jamaican food truck and their jerk chicken & shrimp plates were very good. The beer garden provided us with a Sam Adams Octoberfest beer which was a perfect accompaniment on a beautiful fall afternoon. Upon leaving all the kiddos received a gratis small pumpkin. There were plenty of other larger pumpkins for sale. I can see how this would be an expensive day if you have a couple of kiddos. The entrance fee is $15 pp and the rides average $6.00 pp so it does add up. Take note for next year First Responders, Military and Veterans admitted free every Friday.

Parking is free but this place can get packed quick so plan accordingly. There are many different food options throughout the grounds as well and good shade coverage, something they added more of this year. We felt like their shops offering was smaller this year but we're not completely sure on that. There are additional things you can do if you buy tokens for them such as: a petting zoo, train ride, and pumpkin smashing. We bought some tokens for pumpkin smashing and it was definitely worth it. The bigger the pumpkin, the more tokens it cost so we maxed it out and got some very large ones and let it rip. It was a lot of fun and we recommend this activity to anyone who goes. Lastly, we searched for and selected our perfect pumpkins for carving, which also were decently priced and healthy/good shaped. This is an extremely fun place to go on a cool fall morning with family or friends and is worth the drive out to Leander no matter where you are in Austin, highly recommended.

I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!
