Yep, fall is here y'all..which means it's pumpkin patch season!…read more I wanted to share my thoughts / feedback on my recent visit to the Austin Pumpkin Festival (APF) on Saturday, 10/05/2024 (around 1pm) w/ my daughter and super-cute 20 month old gbaby. Here is why I'm giving my visit a three-star review: 1. Price - (expensive IMO) Buying a ticket online for a weekend date is about $28 per person, no matter the age and only babies and toddlers still in diapers are free to get in, which I think is very expensive, especially for younger kids who are no longer in diapers. I did like that you could leave and return. 2. Atmosphere and Vibe - I loved how many colorful pumpkins were displayed in the different areas that made awesome photo backdrops and all of the other cute displays - mirrors w/ cute captions written on them, colorful pumpkins houses, Sioux Tipi (see pics / video included w/ this review), Ferris wheel, huge wall mural, ect. and as advertised, there were indeed plenty of "Instagrammable moments" however, because the venue/area that this festival was located at, there weren't any shade trees so many of these super cute displays were located directly in our hot Texas sun, which made it very uncomfortable at times, especially having a toddler in tow. There were pockets of shade in the corners/outer edge of the space. We did visit during the day and despite there not being a long line to get on the Ferris wheel, we chose not to get on it because it was located directly in the sun & the seats didn't have a canopy to give any cover. 3. Parking - There is very limited free parking in the small parking lot located right in front but there was street parking located in the nearby neighborhood w/in walking distance 4. Food and Drink - Drinks were a bit pricey (a lemonade drink and a WhiteClaw Seltzer cost around $20+) and they only had chips & other snacks available for purchase so I recommend bringing your own snacks and/or eating before you visit. Other info - There are porta potties onsite. To sum it up, I feel like w/ the higher cost of a ticket pp that this experience is worth it for those who want to capture those IG photo worthy moments and not so much for those who want to bring their little ones to a pumpkin patch. Such a cute place for pictures and taking in all the pumpkins and the live music I would visit again. There so many different types of pumpkins. There was an area with a pool filled of corn where kids can play and there was also a train ride. We walked around took a few pictures and also rode the Ferris wheel which has a beautiful view of the Austin Skyline. The staff was so great They were Very kind and welcoming. Parking is limited so if you are near and able to walk I would suggest doing that. Overall it was such a fun experience!

She honestly made the experience great, and I would give her 5 stars any day. We were allotted a few open studio hours during the course to come in and work independently. These were pretty strictly monitored, and the weekend time slots tended to fill up quickly (understandably) For the price that I paid, I was pretty pleased with taking classes here however I would add some caveats: 1. There are a lot of restrictions here (glazes are pretty limited, you cannot make pieces larger than 8 in, can't bring in most outside glazes that are runny) 2. There were a lot of different skill levels in my class. A majority of the students seemed to be repeating students from the previous cycle, and had a lot of wheel experience. There were only 1-2 people in my class who were beginners. If I hadn't already had some exposure to the wheel, I think I would've been completely lost as most of the class time was spent on demos that the class requested instead of set lessons. If the cost wasn't almost half of what other studios in town were charging, I would probably go to another studio because of the above reasons, but honestly the deal is too good to complain. If you're able to get off the waitlist and get a class here, I'd recommend trying it out if you have some experience already! Otherwise I would try to take a more beginner friendly class elsewhere first

Murders and Moontowers is the name. The center is clean and well lit. Welcoming is the term I think of, inside at least. It's a bit hard to see if you are not paying attention and parking is not great. Not the worst but crowded. Inside had interesting local art, I have some pictures, and a few benches. The theater room is decent sized and you can see and hear pretty well. We were in row 3 or 4 to the right if on stage. The troupe was good and there were some clever songs. It is about an hour and while the murders do factor in its mostly about the growing city and political dealing. I know it's an art center first but two quick things. The chairs are awful. They took me out of the play several times as I could not get in a position that didn't cause pain. Two: I can go without a snack or food but I need liquids. Water, soda, something. If you don't want to sell it allow us to bring lidded bottles or Yetis. Yeti like cups wouldn't leave trash and would allow for less issues. But that said I really otherwise enjoyed this. Shana, the woman who married me, agrees place is very cool. The cast signed a book we had on the killings which was cool. The songs were mostly fun and entertaining. The cast did a good job and told a fun story in just an hour. There were a few things that felt a little out of place but overall it was a good time.

Chandra and her husband were extremely helpful. Everyone who worked there was friendly, wore masks, and reminded us to follow COVID safety measures. We felt safe the entire time. The porter potties were clean and loved the motion sensor lights - definitely appreciated the hand washing station, too. We also brought our own food without a hassle. It's refreshing to go out and not have to worry during the pandemic.

In fact they were nice enough to provide me with a chair so I didnt have to traipse about the chairs on the risers. They've got sodas for sale but it may be BYO (check first) and they've got plenty of bathrooms. All good things to know when you're headed to a performance. If you get the chance to see a show here, do. Its a small theater so there are no bad seats and if you make sure you're not seeing bad theater, well then you're most likely in for a treat.

A fucking puppet show? Are you kidding me?…read more That's what I went to see at Salvage Vanguard Theater, and I liked it so much I went back for another show. I'll be back again. Now, I've only seen their puppet shows, I have no idea if they do other things. The puppet shows are different from anything you've seen: excessively dark, and no strings attached. The puppeteers wear dark beekeeper like suits and hold the brightly painted puppets up and manipulate them from behind. You can see everything that's going on, but within a minute or two, you forget the puppeteers are there and the characters take a life of their own. And what characters! It's obviously all-original and all home made, but they do such a good job of creating compelling characters and stories for them to tell that you'll wonder why they aren't more successful. My girlfriend and I still endlessly quote the shows we've seen and we keep trying to describe the characters and stories in a way that makes sense. It seems we utterly fail at that, and it's why I'm going to keep my review short. This place doesn't make sense. The show doesn't make sense out of context. It doesn't look like much from the outside ... or the inside. But trust me. I give it five stars for a reason, and this isn't even ordinarily my scene. I've tried to convince all my friends to go with varying levels of success, but no one has been disappointed and they all want to come back for more. If you've found it, go experience it.

My first and last time coming.!…read more I had a blast. I love Christmas lights. I enjoyed all of the photos opps. The space was utilized well. So many kids were excited for pictures with Santa. I like that there was a store the purchase things like hot chocolate, shirts, and cookies! This location is donation based. I HIGHLY recommend going as soon as they open. Parking is limited. The GPS led me directly to the right location. I really hate that this is the last year.

There are so many different lighting elements. It's a joy to walk through. The large collection of glow molds is a fun throwback and adds so much charm. The atmosphere is magical. You can stroll through the lights, sip some hot cocoa, and take photos along the way. I remember seeing them on The Great Christmas Light Fight, but seeing it in person was even better. I heard 2025 might be the last year. I'm glad I didn't miss out.

Last summer I finally decided to head up the Lady Bird Johnson park, all because it had the…read moredinosaur animatronic exhibit. I'm a bit of a dinosaur nerd, have been since the early 1970's. I wanted to be a Paleontologist when I was little. So, off to see the dinos I went. There were lots of parents with their kiddos, & grandparents with their grandchildren, a few couples, but I was the only older single. Lol We were all enjoying the animatronic dinosaurs. It's was a cool summer day, and the park was lively in size with plenty of sitting places, and restrooms located throughout. Nice gift shop, & a small little grab & go type of foods. All & all a fun time. I look forward to going back & seeing other exhibits in the future.
