I'm just convinced they're never going to get better here. I live right by here and I always wait forever for my order. I order ahead, wait 20 mins and still come in and sit here for 20 mins. I swear they don't start the food till you get here. The employees here move really slow and sometimes there is nobody up front to greet or let you know what's going on. After a long day today, I decided to stop in here for dinner. Guys. I can't tell you enough. I would give this place 20 stars if I could. Makayla was very friendly and she was happy to give me recommendations for my first time here at fat shack. My favorite thing on the menu so far? Deep fried cheesecake. If you come here for one thing, that's the one. I got a sandwich with fried chicken, French fries, onion rings, and cheese sticks. It's a winner in my book! Once the Uber delivered my meal, I noticed the fried Oreos weren't in there & neither was a receipt. As a frequent customer. My visits thus far have been great. However, last Friday night myself, my boyfriend, and best friend. Decided to go out and have some late night munchies and a last minute drink. When walking into the store at 1:35am I was approached by James (the bigger gentleman) saying that "his bar closed at 1:30am.." Hmm, funny because when talking to the store manager one of my first times visiting he said "Our bar closes at 2, so you can still get food for another whole hour until we close..." Even the gentlemen sitting at the bar with their drinks knew this was a lie... I really don't appreciate the laziness or unprofessionalism James showed us. The bar was still a mess so it's not like we were that much of an "inconvenience". Food here is actually very good. However, 1 star due the broken front of the house process. Extremely mismanaged and it's never taken me under an hour to get 1 large sandwich. Most recently, it was 1 hour and 20 minutes after arriving in the store, not counting the 30 minutes prior where I called in the order. I would like to make note that these guys have been the direct cause of my fatness for at least the last six months since I discovered them while delivering DoorDash. Honestly it's amazing. A little too much cheese sauce on the fries sometimes but their deep fried cheesecake is to die for. My wife and I came in to eat, with no one else inside, and it took over an hour to receive a hamburger that the meat clearly came from a frozen bag of them, and a sub sandwich that tasted like the Mac and cheese was made by melting orange crayons. The deep fried Twinkie will come out all different ways, sometimes a massive ball of funnel cake that doesn't resemble a Twinkie; still good, but definitely different than when it's smaller. As tourists, we were unfamiliar with the area and parked at the back of the complex. The kitchen door was open and all the outside windows were dirty and the kitchen was not gross, but could've been cleaner. The clerk who took our order was very friendly, but was only on his third day. He was not as hygienic looking as someone working at a restaurant should be... The lobby looked nice and new, but you could tell it isn't being cleaned well and will soon be disgusting. As we were eating a female employee appeared to take other orders and should not be working. She had visible scabs on her face and back - she was wearing a tank top and picking the scabs on her back as she was taking orders!!!! I was eager to try this place and had hoped it would be as good as I thought it was. Well there was no one at the counter when we came in so we ordered from the kiosk. We ordered 2 drinks with our meal and they were never given to us. We sat down to wait and watched the workers fly by doing online and grubhub orders. We finally asked because it was our first time and we didn't know if they would give them to us. Eventually after almost an hour of watching grub hub delivery people come and go, we finally got our food. My burger was so dry and the mac and cheese was so bland. The Pioneer sandwich is absolutely amazing. Sometimes the service is slow here, but the food is definitely worth the wait. The fried Oreos are heaven on earth, and there's a lot of sandwich options to choose from. Although this location is louder, I prefer it to the one on University. read more
