This is a fine dining steak restaurant without the table-clothed tables. Sizable steaks are grilled over charcoal. They also serve as a butcher shop. They have a Michelin-recommended designation. They also have house-made charcuterie. When you choose a cut of meat, they bring it over to you so you can choose one. They tell you the exact weight (typically 0.5 lb to 1.0 lb) and cost. All meats are cooked medium-rare unless otherwise specified. There are minor changes to menu weekly, and are major changes monthly. There is a chef's table: counter seating for 4 in front of the head chef, Chef Gareth. These counter seats costs a little more. You can see the chef plating the dishes. He is willing to let you photograph and video the plating. I've previously dined here on 2024-11-29 and 2025-06-15. This review is about my visit on 2026-05-30. My mom and I arrived for a late lunch at 14:15. The server told us a steak would take 30 mins because the restaurant is still full. My mom was hungry so we asked about a vegetable side and we were told 5 mins. We were willing to have the vegetable first and then wait for the steak. We ordered the following: 1. Grilled Asparagus ($25). 2. Denver Steak ($47.95 from $70/lb). The asparagus dish tasted good. It consists of asparagus beurre blanc, quanciale (salt-cured meat), and pickled ramps. I've never had ramps before, which are onion-like vegetables, also called wild garlic or wild leeks. The pickling made them the strongest taste on the dish. The Denver cut is one step above a Sirloin cut. I've never had it before so I wanted to try. The Denver is a highly marbled, budget-friendly cut from the animal's chuck (shoulder). This restaurant's Denver ($70/lb) actually more expensive than the Sirloin ($60/lb). It was perfectly grilled as medium-rare with a deep, rich, beefy flavour, and melts like butter. The steak was sliced into thick slices and highly charred on one side. The Denver is typically dense so try cutting it along the grain. You can actually see a few pieces of large salt pieces, so the steak was saltier than usual. I was glad I tried a Denver, and would have it again. As a butcher shop, you can buy various fresh cuts. There are fridges for take-home choices like pork ragu, guanciale, and prime steaks. There is plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. There is very loud music playing in the background making it hard for conversations. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are two gender-neutral washrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible. There is free parking in their private parking lot and free neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-098 read more

Found this cute restaurant and visited on the way to see a concert in Niagara. The parking lot is an odd shape that could only fit a max of what seemed like 6 cars in front of the restaurant. The servers were friendly, and informative - explaining that the entire animal is used and not wasted. My favourite was the squash which was a perfect mix of savory and sweet. The rest of the table liked the beef tongue and smoked pork chop with the mushrooms. Portions were good as all of this was shared amongst 5 people. read more

My partner and I have been excited to try out Fat Rabbit, and after dining here, I can honestly say it was well worth the wait. The ambience, the service already left a great first impression to me, and this would be the perfect spot to have a celebration, or a cozy date. The food was magnificent. There are a lot of options to choose from, and the differing sizes of the dishes they offer allow you and your party to share and try just about anything you want. They emphasize the idea that most things are shareable, which is a bonus, as if you are dining in these type of restaurants, you just want to try as much as you can when you're there. The meat is extremely tender and seasoned so well. Even the leftovers for the next day taste just as amazing as it did the previous night. And yes, if you come visit, definitely try their sticky toffee pudding dessert. It is a shareable size and it will leave such a great final touch to your experience dining here. One thing to note, the dishes add up quite easily and will become an expensive meal after ordering a few different dishes. Overall, I would recommend everyone to try out this restaurant. Love it when a butcher also cooks their food. Drove all the way to Fat Rabbit to try it out. Parking is tough btw with a small parking lot. But you can try the street Serving staff was very friendly and decidedly bohemian vibe. Had the following: Steak tartare: was nice with 3 slices of bread that were toasted perfectly and large. Our version came with goat cheese that we asked for on the side since one of us didn't like it. It was an interesting add on to the dish. Atlantic lobster was delicious and apparently is popular. Basically added green onion and ginger mash on top which is very similar to the chinese dipping sauce for steamed chicken. Lobster portion was too small though. Summer slaw was nice. But unremarkable. Miami short ribs were the best of the night. Excellenty seasoned and grilled perfectly. Did not expect them to be this good. Ribeye special was 8 ozs that had a sauce that wasn't necessary. Would prefer it without sauce and more charred. Mushroom sausage was delicious but was slightly undercooked. What we loved: - it's a butcher (you can pick up things to cook at home) - it's a restaurant - supports local - fantastic selection of meats and cheese for charcuterie boards - you pick your own cut of meat and they cook it how you want. - sides are great for sharing. Things to know: - Parking is a challenge - apparently they have overflow one street over. This restaurant has been on my get to list for a while, and it didn't disappoint. Incredibly creative menu and and tons of cuts of meat, charcuterie, and accompaniments for purchase. Inside is very casual and comfortable, with great views of the kitchen staff at work. Service is quick and efficient, but not rushed. The only reason it didn't get five stars is that I felt like they relied on sauces for flavor, and I'm all about a good sauce, but I also like the flavors of the foods to shine. Kale shoots were a bit tough. The spreadable n'duja is a must try for spicy lovers. While they have an impressive array of cuts of meat, I think if I return here, it would be for small plates, apps and drinks. read more

Fat Rabbit exudes honesty and care. We visited about a year ago, and I haven't been able to get that meal out of my head. In an intimate and casual setting, the menu highlights fresh Canadian seasonal produce, simply prepared yet complex in flavours. A disguised fine dining experience; the quality (and the price) without the attitude. Ah, and their sticky toffee pudding was to die for. Really wanted to try their dinner menu but their daytime menu will do (for now). Their kale caesar salad is amazing. Same with the crispy potatoes but $16 is wild to me. We had the porchetta sandwich and cheeseburger to share and the one thing that I find unappetizing is the pickled eggplant in the porchetta sandwich. Awesome breakfast sandwiches! It hasn't been open very long this place but it has created a buzz. It's a butcher/ restaurant, that's not on the cheap end. The service was great, the wait staff were really friendly. We ordered the breakfast sandwiches, the sausage and the peameal bacon. The sandwiches were sooo good! The egg was perfect sunny side and the sauces on it, had a sweet and hot spice. We loved them. We will definitely be back to try more things on the menu. The burger looked crazy good!! Only open 3 weeks and read some great reviews. It's a restaurant/butcher shop. I know, weird, but it works when they explained the concept. Came for lunch and oh wow, oh wow. Tapas style eating for the most part but the dishes were tremendous in flavour, portions were decent and we chose from most of the categories as there were 4 of us. We had Olives, not your run of the mill; samosas came with the beef tartare, blue cheese was so creamy, the beef short ribs were succulent and so on. The 2 "foodies" exclaimed that they would drive here (2hours) just to eat here again. Not inexpensive, but the flavours, the sauces and the quality is amazing. Glad it picked St.Catharines as home. read more
