Sadly, it looks like this store has gone the way of all flesh. I had developed a relatively…read morefriendly acquaintanceship with the owner Ed over the years that I've shopped here, but I knew business wasn't good. Like the old video-rental stores, camera shops specializing in 35mm photography seem in danger of becoming extinct. This particular establishment was a hold out, and I had hoped (as I expressed in the initial review) that it would continue on in spite of the odds (when I first started patronizing it, it was located on the opposite side of this shopping center, which is directly across the street from where the old Flea Market used to be...I used to buy a lot of bootleg Sex Pistols and NY Dolls albums there back in the day...but I digress...). I've abandoned my 35mm camera in favor of I-Phone and Smart-Phone photography, but I still came to this store on occasion because they sold Pioneer 12 x 12 EZ-Load "Memory Book" photo albums and their ancillary refills, which are pretty hard to come by (I collect autographed 8 by 11 "movie star" photographs, as well as blow-ups of my old photographs, and copies of original family photographs that my genetic family has been generous enough to lend to me). The proprietor, Ed, was always very friendly and upbeat, but also frank. He indicated that rents in the area were very, very high, and that there wasn't enough business to support such high rents. Still, he seemed determined to hang on, and I was glad to see his persistence. A few months ago, though, I stopped here, and the store was closed. A sign indicated that Ed had had surgery and would return when he had recuperated. I had an ominous feeling about it. As my late grandmother used to say, and say with unnerving frequency, "Live in hope; die in despair." (And people wonder why I'm so gloomy? But, anyway...) I returned today. The signs are all gone; the store is dark and empty. Everything has been removed. I feel bad, as I felt when Camera One of Morristown (I had been a regular patron there from the days when I first got into photography and they had their store at Olcott Square, Bernardsville) closed its doors. I haven't been patronizing Shutterbug Ed's for as long as I patronized Camera One, but he was a good guy struggling to make a living and provide quality service in a business that seems to be unfortunately heading in the direction of video-rental and independent bookstores. Ed was a decent, hard-working guy, and I wish him well.

Had a horrible experience with such a nasty old man, presumably the owner. I went in to buy trash…read morestickers and asked if I could please have a plastic bag because it was raining and he said "I don't make money off of these so no. You can put these in your purse though, they fold, can you handle that?" I was so taken aback, he has such a nasty and condescending attitude. Try to avoid this place if you can.
