This is going to be a bit of a long story, but I think it is a must read, because this was a messy situation...
I have used these movers twice. Once in 2016 and once just previously in April 2017. The first experience in 2016 with these movers, was excellent. Luis was professional and extremely friendly and helpful. Movers came out and had me moved out of my old unit within 90 minutes and into the new place very quickly. A max of 3 hours to move me from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom (that was pretty amazing). I was so pleased with their service and professionalism...
I don't know what happened between then and now, but I must say my last experience in April was not the best. We scheduled 3 movers @ $65/hr for the date of my move because I am pregnant and wanted to make sure this would be a quick process. Since we were only moving one house down from where I was originally living at, Luis explained this should take no more than 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Nothing had changed from the time of the last move to this move, so we figured this was pretty reasonable, plus, we were only moving next door.
On moving day, the movers showed up at 9:00 AM, which was not what I requested. Considering this was just an honest mistake, I just asked the movers to please come back at 10:30 as I was finishing up the last few pieces of my packing and the house next door was not yet ready. When the movers came back at 10:30, I realized there were only two movers on the job, instead of the 3 that we had agreed to for $65.00/hour. I showed the movers the house I was moving out of and asked that they start with the garage to empty it out. As the day went on I made sure the movers had water to hydrate and checked on them to make sure they were okay... the move took a total of 4 hours; but wait, that isn't the part I am upset about - movers did not bring tools to take apart the bed that was in my bedroom (they had tools a year ago and were able to take apart and put back together) So I had to unpack my tools so they could use them.
The movers still had not gotten the fridge out of the house yet, and Fernando told me they would not be able to move the fridge. However, this was already a conversation that I had with Luis over the phone that we had a 3 door fridge, and he told me, yes, we can take it a part as long as you do not hold any liability over us. I agreed that this was fine. Fernando told me he was not told that this was a three door fridge, and he was afraid of breaking the fridge. I was annoyed, but my brother in-law was there with his friends who were also helping the movers move my stuff. I told Fernando, I understood he was unsure how to do it, and I wouldn't want to put him in a situation where he felt responsible for the fridge so I told him not to worry about it, and I would have my brother in-law and his friends take care of the fridge. Besides, it had already been 4 hours and I didn't want to have to pay anymore money. I walked away to go and grab my wallet and when I came back, the movers were taking a part my fridge; in which I had already told them I didn't want them to do it if they were unsure... I told Fernando again, this is not what I asked of you, I don't want to spend anymore money, he told me, I will do this part for you for free. I am stopping the clock, don't worry... Okay, I let them have at it. It took them almost an hour to get the fridge from one house to the other. But they we not putting it back together. So I asked Fernando to at least show my brother in-law where he took the screws from so he could put it back together, and he told me that because he wasn't getting paid for it, that he had to leave (and had an attitude while he said it. THIS HAD ME SO ANGRY, WHY WOULD YOU TAKE A PART THE FRIDGE WHEN I SPECIFICALLY TOLD YOU NOT TO, AND THEN TELL ME YOU ARE NOT PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER?
My brother ended up putting it back together, but at the end, Fernando had a bad attitude and didn't believe me when I told him that the price was $65.00/hour so he wanted to call Luis. Luis however; was very professional the entire way through and confirmed the price we agreed on. I didn't complain about the 2 movers VS. the 3, I just agreed to what Luis and I had discussed as far as price and felt it wouldn't have been worth it to trip over the price of one missing mover. I was just disappointed in the service that I received from the movers in general that day. Further more, when I went to my new bedroom to start organizing, I noticed the movers chipped a huge (and I mean huge) piece of wood off of my dresser, and there the piece lay in the middle of my floor. They didn't even have the decency to say anything about it. My dresser was pretty expensive so I was very upset with the carelessness displayed that day. I have a ton of respect for Luis, but that Fernando guy needs some training. read more
