I don't know how this place has stayed open so long. I've eaten there twice, and both times, the food has been an EXTREMELY greasy and tasteless mess! Had a stomach ache afterward both times. Some greasy burgers are good, and I can digest them fine, but not the burgers at this place. I give it 2 stars instead of one because the people who served up the slop were at least friendly about it, and it looks cool inside. read more

First let me just say that after living in Modesto for 20 years!! - my wife and I had no idea about this Local Modesto institution. In business since 1952 (63 Yrs.!!??) One of our friends told us about "Fast Eddie's Moab" - John asked us? do you guys like Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches?? - Oh yeah!! LOVE EM. So on Friday ( 5-22-15 ) My wife & I took a drive over there, willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. WOW!! - Fast Eddie's did not disappoint !! - the MENU had a lot to offer, the place was pretty clean, it had fun & interesting Decor, the prices were just a tad (Little bit ) on the high side?! ( But well worth the trip.) **** OKAY ABOUT THE FOOD!! My Philly cheese steak was the best I've ever had ( No Lie!! ) you absolutely must try it, and it was really delicious / generous size sandwich too. ( The 1st. bite was heaven. ) and we also tried the " Mac n Cheese bites " Soooooo!! good, their Onion rings (Yummy.) My wife went with the Grilled Steak & mushroom, with melted swiss & lite on the BBQ sauce. ( She totally loved it, and said : OMG! this is so good.) The service was great!! since it was our 1st. time, we had a few questions ; but the young Man ( Everett ) who took our order, was impressively knowledgeable on the entire menu!! - very friendly, genuinely interested in making sure our 1st. time at Fast Eddie's Moab was a memorable one. **** Our food came to our table in less than 10 minutes, Hot! fresh, and simply delicious. I was so impressed with my Philly cheese steak, that I had to get up in the middle of my meal & let ( Cody and Jeremy ) the Cooks - know that my Philly cheese steak was "THE BEST" everything we had was really super good. **** Over all - it was a great experience!! but what really made a big impression on us - was the down-to-earth, service with a Smile. We would highly recommend Fast Eddie's Moab, - this place is a hidden Jewel!! and if it ain't broke?! don't fix it.. 63 years in business!! - hey!! their doing it right. We'll definitely be back.. Today will be my last day at MOAB, a group of us eat there about every few weeks. The food is pricy but normally the service and food are good, but not today. My bill was $33 plus. They have a sign posted no Bills larger than a $20. I only had $30.00 cash and $100.00 bill. She said I can't take that $100.00 bill, I then said, ok I will have to use my credit card, she said ok it's an additional .75 cents to use your credit card, at that point I would of walked out but we had already placed our order. It's a matter of principle, I wanted to pay cash and you charge me .75 cents to us a credit card? No thanks, I will take my cash and credit card some place else next time! read more

my husband and i just went here for the first time, and i wont be going back. it looks really neat, and my son loved the pin ball machines, but the girl at the register was TOTALLY RUDE,no thank you, have a good day NOTHING! But i waited to judge the place until i tasted the food, and that wasnt good. my husband had a spicy chicken sandwich that the bun was BURNT,you couldnt even taste anything else it was so burnt, like the cook couldnt just throw it away and toast a new one and i had chickenless chicken tenders that had 90% batter and 10% chicken, you could hardley taste the chicken, i will NOT be going back, thats for sure. read more

Just tried this Modesto landmark for the first time last night. I had their basic BFD (burger, fries, drink). Knowing how burger ratings can be very subjective from individual to individual, I'll make a comparison since a burger is not a burger. When it comes to burger joints, I see them as one of three types: 1) High Volume National Chains; 2) Old Fashioned Traditional; and 3) High End Gourmet. MOAB is what I'd call "Old Fashioned Traditional. They're sizing is of the larger kind unlike the a typical McD or BK which over time, (I swear!), is getting smaller and thinner. On the other hand, The MOAB burger is around 8" in diameter and quite thick compared to most which is classic Traditional -- no frills, just a big tasty burger. The MOAB locacation is right smack in the middle of a fast moving surface street within an old neighborhood. I noticed a regular flow of foot traffic, so this place definitely has a loyal following since it's easy to miss. Some reviewers have mentioned the "funky factor" with regard to the decor. Being an Old Fashioned format, I'd say that the various hunting trophies, eclectic pictures, pinball machines, and rusty farm/workshop implements decorating the walls is appropriate. For comparison, I'd throw this place into the same category as SnoWhite and Foster's Freeze, but without the franchise feel. It's not my favorite burger joint, but it is time tested, and customer approved. read more

I like the feel of this place- like an old fashioned hamburger stand. The food was very good. I had the MOAB special and the onion rings.

Went here for the first time and I ordered the grilled onions and mushroom burger with swiss cheese. It was aaaaamazing! Nice and juicy and the bun was perfectly toasted. Cant wait to come back and try something else. Service was good as well. I thought it was better than IN N OUT and as good as Fuddruckers but maybe MOABs is a little better. read more

This is a pretty standard mom and pop burger spot. The staff was really nice, the onion rings were exceptionally good. Minus points for standard tasting fries and really disappointing burger patties. These are clearly preformed, frozen burger patties that are thin and bland, not exciting at all. We didn't try anything but burgers, tho it looked like the other sandwich offerings were interesting possibilities, we may be back. read more

My favorite place, has been for 40 years and still is but please no pretzel buns on the chicken Philly. (Was told it was a temp fill in) They change the flavor of the best Sandos in town. You can't go wrong at Fast Eddie's! Seriously, they have whatever burger suits you, and tons of options on their menu (just take a look!) including a burger fry and drink combo for under 9 bucks. Totally worth it for a fast food feel, but with the charm of a real sit down place. They start up your order while you're still at the counter and it's up Fast! Great food, great price. read more

Don't understand the great reviews on the burger. There is nothing fantastic about the burgers here. Frozen patties, not hand formed ground beef. Usual kraft cheese slice, no special sauce or seasoning, etc. It's a funky place, and maybe the other menu items are ok, I only had the burger though. Fries were ok, not great either. This place rules! Best burgers in Modesto. All the bad reviews on here are from a bunch of penny pinching misers bitching about the food being overpriced. STFU and eat the burger already! One dude on here saying he ain't coming back b/c he had to pay a 75 cent fee to use his CC, and that it was a "matter of principle". Really? If your "principles" are worth 75 cents, you may want to go to McD's. If not and you want a great burger at a reasonable price-point, I highly recommend MOAB. read more

This is the BEST place in town for burgers and more. The food is of the best quality and it's consistent. You will NOT go away hungry and you'll want to return time and time again. There's lots to see in this place that's been there for over 40 years. If you're wanting an old-fashioned burger, go for it. It's great. But, any of the other sandwiches are just as fantastic.
