This is the main gas station right by the university. The prices are pretty competative to the other gas stations near by.

The woman working was very rude to me. And didn't care that her behavior would cost them my business.

The friendliest employees I've ever come across. I'm in the store every day for one reason or…read moreanother and whoever happens to be working the register always says "hello" and they always have a smile ready for us bleary-eyed, early morning caffeine addicts. This location's open 24 hours too, which is a plus for the neighborhood insomniacs. No alcohol - but really that's the only drawback and anyway, Inboden's next door has a nice beer selection - just go there to get your booze. I'm a big fan of the punch card they offer for coffee and other hot drinks - the good old buy 8, get 1 free type of deal. I've heard rumors to the effect that if you ask really nicely, some of the girls might be willing to "accidentally" punch your card 2 or 3 times per visit ;-) - I mean sometimes it's the little things in life that you gotta be thankful for, you know? Typical high gas station prices on most items, but they always have some sort of bargain bin thing out front with deeply discounted merchandise that needs to be sold - you know what I mean, like halloween candy in November or x-mas junk in January. They also seem to sell a pretty good amount of winning scratch off lottery tickets here too if that happens to be your thing. I've seen multiple $1,000 winners posted on the glass there, so someone's getting lucky. But what it all comes down to is that this is just a gas station, one of dozens in DeKalb. The difference here is the employees and their overall great attitude and demeanor, and that's what makes this particular gas station a 5 star venue, rather than a run-of-the-mill 7-11 or someplace else with clerks who could not possibly care less about their job or their customers.

the fact the they have their workers work what feels like an oven is bs. I was only in there for 3…read moreminutes and I couldn't stand it thats how hot it was. I can't imagine how the employees feel and its bs that they're not allowed to used fans to cool off or at least open the door. I gotta say it's so hot in that store that the chocolate bars on the shelf is already melting. yeah that bad. You think they would learn from the last employee passing out on the clock because of the heat but this goes show they don't give a shit

I'm a regular customer at Merlin. I used to get all my oil changes and car issues checked there…read more But every time I went, they'd hand me a huge list of repairs. For example, when my tail light was out, they charged me $35 just for installation--something I later learned to do myself in about two minutes. Then, I heard a sound from my tire, and they said it'd cost $600. When I hesitated, they warned me it was risky to drive, so I agreed. Later, I had an oil change--they charged me $80 for synthetic oil, which should last 6,000 miles. But at 2,500 miles, my engine oil light came on. I checked, and there was no oil. I had to get it redone elsewhere. Next, I had a catalytic converter issue. Merlin charged me $300 for installation after I bought the part myself. Later, I smelled smoke from my A/C vent. They told me it would go away after some miles, but it didn't. My engine light stayed on, and after about 7,000 miles, the car wouldn't accelerate. They said it was the catalytic converter again--$1,500. I had no choice, so I paid. They had already charged me $99 for the diagnostic. One week later, I heard another noise from the tire. I asked them to check, but they wanted another diagnostic fee. I reminded them I had just done one, but they insisted it was separate. I paid $99 again. Then they said it was the tire bearings--$600. I was suspicious, so I took my car elsewhere. Turns out it wasn't the bearings; it was brake pads. I've realized they exaggerate issues to charge more. I've wasted $3,000 in two years. If I'd gone to another mechanic first, I'd have avoided all this. I've seen other reviews saying the same. I don't recommend Merlin. If you have car issues, go somewhere else.

I wish I could give them a lower score then 1. They wasted one day not even working on my vehicle…read more Then the next they worked on it, they all left a half hour early without finishing any work. They don't care bout customers, they suck.
