Ariel is the owner of Denver Farrell's and she is seriously the best. The team she has built there is motivating, empowering, and patient! You walk into a class not feeling intimidated, but welcome, and regardless of your level of athleticism and ability, there are endless modifications to the workouts. We would recommend Farrell's to any person who is looking for an "inclusive but not over-bearing" gym and team. My review is based on the financial policy and the safety of the gym. I will say that the workouts can be great and if you put in the effort do get a good workout. The support of the other members is also very good. I did get a good workout and the early times for the classes was great. I am basing my review on the safety. When the classes are small and the instructors can see all the members and focus on safety things work well. During Groupon times and other incentives the classes at times get overcrowded with new people who do not know what they are doing and this makes or an unsafe environment. I was hurt by another member who was not properly trained. I did see this happen other occasions with other members. I no longer go to the gym as I do not feel it is a safe place for me to workout. I am also basing this review on the financial policy of the owner. I would recommend paying as you go for workouts and memberships. If anything happens for any reason you will NOT get a refund. I paid for an entire year. When I was injured by the other member I was told that under no circumstances will I be given a refund. I am now in seven months of rehab and may have to have surgery. If everything works out and you do not happen to have a problem, this can be a great workout. But pay as you go to protect yourself. read more

Just finished my 10 week challenge on 9/17/14. Here are my thoughts ... A+. Five Stars. Perfect 10 out of 10. However you want to rank it, Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping on Colorado Blvd sets the standard for excellence. Here's what sold me initially: Dan, the owner and one of our trainers, told me about the price. Dan: "We're right about in the middle between the cost of a regular gym membership and a personal trainer." Me: "Definitely more than a gym membership." Dan: "Have you had a gym membership before?" Me: "Sure." Dan: "How'd that work out for you?" It immediately made sense. I wasn't going to get anywhere on my own, but I wasn't going to hire a personal trainer, either. I signed up. Here's what happened: When I started, I weighed 278 lbs. 10 weeks later, I weigh 259 lbs. When I started, I had a 43" waist. 10 weeks later, I have a 38 3/4" waist. When I started, I was 32.3% body fat. 10 weeks later, I'm 27.7% body fat. When I started, I could do 32 pushups in a minute. Now I can do 71. When I started, I could do 25 situps in a minute. Now I can do 47. When I started it took me 13 minutes to run/walk a mile. Last week I did it in 9:50, no stopping. So, to sum up: 10 weeks ago, I was overweight, out of shape, and it hurt to exercise. Now, I'm fit, I eat right, and I look forward to exercise (mostly). I can't recommend Dan and his team enough. If you're looking for a swift kick in the ass, you've found the place to do it! My husband and I joined FXB for the 10 week session over a year ago and are still going to this day (although not as regularly). Dan and Jolene are top notch and offer a serious butt-kicking workout! The kickboxing days are more packed and high energy than the strength-training days, but both offer a great workout and are important for your overall fitness and body change. Not only do they offer great workouts and make you do things you would never do on your own (hello burpees!), but they also offer coaching and nutritional support for a more well-rounded approach to fitness and health. The 10-week program is a great kickoff and if you commit to attending the classes and eating right it really pays off. More importantly, this gym is a great community and the classes are so fun and effective so you will want to keep going afterwards. The name of the gym was initially a bit off-putting to me - I envisioned a bunch of hardcore bodybuilders and an extreme focus on appearances and weight loss. I was so wrong. While there are certainly some very fit and strong members, we come in all shapes, sizes and ages. The environment is extremely welcoming, supportive and non-intimidating but you are pushed (in a good way) to work hard and show up and to bring your own level 10 to class (which looks different for everyone). The classes are only 45 minutes but they are intense - if you do it right that's all you need. The instructors are wonderful, and the owner/instructor Ariel (she took over the gym in 2018) is absolutely fabulous. Highly, highly recommended! read more

Came here last night as a guest, for the kickboxing class! Some friends who just completed the 10 week challenges and lost 10+ inches off their bodies raved about this program. The facility is open and has a raw feel. The instructor, Dan who is also the owner definitely keeps the energy pumping. The class is 45 minutes and gets straight to the point. I'd love to be able to corn 2x a week but you have to complete the 10week challenge first. Great workout, a mix of cardio kick boxing and strength training. I'd love to try another class! Ladies- recommend you wear leggings as there is a lot of kicking. read more

What can I say, the results speak for themselves! In their 10 week boot camp program, I lost 4.7% body fat, reduced my mile time by over a minute, did 30 more push-ups & 21 more sit-ups in a 60-second period. They give great nutritional guidance, and all you have to do is keep showing up to class! I now have more energy and feel 10 times better throughout the day. Two years ago I joined FXB and finished my 10 weeks with amazing results, I lost 18 pounds and 16 inches (I was 201 lb before FXB). I think the reason I left was because I felt too comfortable  with my  results. I was not ready for a long term commitment. I thought I would be able to keep the weight off forever without the exercise or diet. Over the 2 years, I gained all the weight back  and was able to lose some with the FXB nutrition plan, but after a while I would gain it all back again. So finally, this year I turned 30, and I decided to make a change for good because now I understand if I don't make a change permanently in my habits of eating and exercising all my hard work will be worthless.    Before I came back to FXB I was 203 lbs.  I followed my FXB nutrition plan  and started to run, I lost 18 lbs in 2 months and decided it was time to go back to FXB kickboxing. I did my 10 weeks and lost an additional 17 lbs and lost 9.7 inches. I went from a size 14 to a size 10.    What I love about FXB is that we never have the same routine. The coaches are very helpful, approachable, and give you great tips for nutrition and  lots of motivation. I made very good friends in class that support me, they keep me motivated to keep going, even on my worst days I show up and forget all about it when I see their faces.  We are on the same path, we have the same goal and together we are stronger every day.   I would like to thank owner Dan Dorenkamp for the sacrifices he has made in order to open a branch in Denver. I was really happy with this gym until I got injured 2 weeks into my 1-year membership. I'm not able to go back to this style of working out and the owner will not issue even a partial refund. So I spent about $1400 for a 12ish-week challenge. Buyer beware. read more

When it comes to finding a good fitness program, it really doesn't get better than Farrell's. I completed my 10 Week Challenge in March of this year. During those ten weeks, I lost 17 pounds, 4% body fat and 15" overall. There are some main aspects of Farrell's that stand out to me: Classes: The kickboxing classes are fun, high energy and an incredible workout. The instructors are great and keep you on your toes with all different types of workouts - from partner work, stations or "Fun Friday". The strength training classes utilize different levels of resistance bands and medicine balls for all different types of workouts which keeps them challenging and fun. In addition, there are many class times to choose from when you sign up, so you can find one that fits your schedule well. Environment: After a long day at work, sometimes the last place I want to go is the gym, no matter how fun the workouts are - and that's where the support system I've found at FXB is key. I've made great friends through the program that I enjoy spending time with both on and off the mat. They keep me both motivated and accountable. There are people in all different places of their fitness journey at FXB. Some have never worked out in their life and some have been at Farrell's for years. When I started, I preferred to take the elevator at work so people couldn't hear me breathing heavily on the stairs. I was nervous people would look at me and judge like they have at other "large scale" gyms when I used to jog on the treadmill for hours. But I was more than pleasantly surprised. Not only did nobody put me down and said I couldn't do it, but instead encouraged and supported me as I started my journey to be healthier. Nobody looks down on anyone else at FXB, no matter your fitness level, size or ability. We are all there to support each other. Program: One of the things that made Farrell's work for me (and continue to work for me) is the overall approach to health & fitness. During the 10 Week Challenge you don't just focus on what the scale says but also how you're progressing through body measurements, body fat %, cardio endurance and much more. There's three main parts of the program: kickboxing, strength training and NUTRITION. The focus on nutrition is a key factor - it really opened my eyes to what I was putting in my body and how it was making me feel. There's no strict diet regimens, no avoiding certain food groups, no crazy cleanses or meticulously counting every single calorie - just a solid approach to eating well in order to fuel your body and meet (and exceed) your goals. I know my review was long, but I can't say enough good things about this program. Sure, it's a little more expensive than the $10/month membership at other gyms, but it is so worth it. I began my journey with Farrell's in January 2015 and I had no idea what to expect when I walked in the door. I was really looking for a program with individualized coaching and a plan I could stick with. Well, let's just say, I found it at Farrell's! Prior to joining, I was not actively fit enough to hike with friends without losing my stamina. At 10 weeks, I increased my mile run by 4 minutes and the next 5 mile mountain hike I did, I not only didn't lose my stamina, I wasn't even tired! I've lost 30 lbs, at least 8% body fat and am down 3 dress sizes! I've now been with the program almost 2 years and training is never the same, but something new each day to look forward to. Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping Denver...how much I miss it! I held a 24hr membership for over 4 years and it did nothing for me but this program I absolutely fell in love with! It starts out with a 10-week work out program, Monday-Saturday, 45 mins a day. 3 days of the week you do intense cardio kick boxing & the other 3 days you do strength training. You're thinking right now, kick boxing? Me? No way on earth. But trust me, this program is for anyone! The classes have people that range from 15-year-old high school students to 65-year-old retirees. It's built for anyone and everyone! The instructors are so supportive and really go above & beyond any instructor I have ever seen. They not only want to make sure you are getting everything you can out of the class but also making sure you are doing it safely. The other students in the class are also incredible, you build bonds and friendships with your fellow classmates, plus you become a huge support network! Now, trust me, the hardest most difficult part of the whole thing is showing up, if you don't show up, you will not see the results. It was sad for me to move away from Denver but man every week I miss getting up early and hitting that 5am class! It really changed my life! read more

This program is unbelievable. I just completed their 10-week extreme bodyshaping bootcamp, and it truly transformed me. The other day, I ran into one of my neighbors, and they didn't know who I was. I started with FXB back in June for my 10 week challenge. Those first weeks I was like what did I get my self into. At my 5 week assessment I had lost 11 lbs. and 2 inches off my waist. I was very happy with my results but I still wanted more. I'm in week 17 and I'm in LOVE with this FXB. Everyone is so nice and makes me feel good ,because they have great energy even at 8:15am. I was a little hesitant joining FXB, but I am glad that I did. After my 10 week program, I ended up losing 17 lbs and 4% body fat. I now have signed up to continue my journey to fitness. I love the classes, as it is never the same thing and all the instructors are very good and showing you correct techniques and getting you to push yourself.
