The screen of my MacBook Pro stopped working 1 week before Christmas and being a Graphic Design student, I had lots of work to do over the Christmas period. It was a 2 week wait at the Apple Store, so I found this place online and took my laptop in. I had only had my MacBook for 7 months, and had purchased the 3 year extended warranty, so expected it to be straightforwards. It has a few little scratches on the outside and a very very small dent on one of the corners. I was informed that if this meant it wasn't under warranty according to Apple's standards they would charge me full price, but that they thought it would be okay.
A week or so later (I can't remember exactly how long) I received a call to say the whole display had to be replaced and it wasn't under warranty so would cost me upwards of £600. This would take time, so I decided to wait until I was back in London and get it fixed there. When I picked my laptop up, I was charged £30 for their services (which would have been 100% free if it was in warranty).
I then took it to the Apple Store in Covent Garden, where they told me it definitely was within my 1 year free warranty, and they would do the whole repair FREE OF CHARGE.
I had been warned against going to Farpoint by several people before I went, but didn't listen as I was desperate. I was without a laptop for an entire month, and the whole situation ended up costing me an unnecessary £30, which for a student just after Christmas is a lot of money. I'm just glad I didn't make the decision to spend my rent money on the repair, and waited for a second opinion.
I would never go here again, in my opinion it is very deserving of it's nickname 'NoPoint'. read more
