My favourite thing to do of a lunch hour, is to pop along to the Bibliotherapy room at the top of the show, pick up a book, sit on the sofa and listen to the relaxing music. They also have a special booth equipped with tea, biscuits and headphones if you're looking for the ultimate in 'me time'. The shop spreads over three floors and covers a number of genres from cookbooks to psychology. These books are always sold at full price, so don't expect to get a bargain here, but you will find a carefully chosen selection of publications which you don't find on the highstreet.

The first time I needed clothes washed, I engaged them to do the laundry including washing, drying and folding. Everything was neatly done as I went about my touristy fun and was ready the following morning. The second time, I stayed and enjoyed a piece of delicious home-made cake with coffee during the wash cycle. I also was able to check my email on my laptop through their wi-fi service. During the dry cycle, I had a delicious custom-made cheddar cheese sandwich. The laundrette / cafe is 22 minutes walking from my hotel, 8 minutes by bicycle, and about 12 minutes by bus. (I tried all these ways.) They are conveniently open every day from 9 AM to 5 PM. I can't recommend them more highly.

I was unfortunate enough to be served by a person called Amy, I had taken my Breitling watch in for a new battery and pressure test. When I went back to pick up my watch this Amy informed me that there was an issue with the watch. I was obviously worried and asked what the issue was and she informed that me that whoever I'd taken my watch too beforehand had rounded off the screw and they were having to order a tool to get into it. I informed her that we'd always gone to Iles and she said I don't think so and anyway we mark our batteries. I informed her that I was happy with that as she see that when the back was opened. However I was incredibly worried about any potential damage. I also wasn't happy that this Amy had practically called me and my husband liars. I telephoned the shop and spoke to Denise the manager who informed me that there wasn't an issue with my watch and that they had mislaid the tool for Beitling watches and had to order a new one!! Why didn't that Amy say that? I rang once I'd received a text to say my watch was ready - my luck ..... not!! As Amy answered, I asked to speak to Denise, she was busy, so I asked her if she would confirm the source of my old battery, she said she couldn't as the jeweller had just gone to lunch, so I asked her if Denise could call me when he was back, he's not coming back I told you that came the reply - so ........ The outcome - yes my battery was changed by them - I have recommended lots of friends here and I'd say this to my friends and any potential new customers - steer clear of Amy, she hasn't a clue what she is talking about and is extremely rude and has no gripes in practically calling customers liars - Denise and the other ladies are the only people who have secured my future custom. This Amy needs more customer service training and more importantly she needs more training on all items of that this jeweller sells, repairs and watches that they replace the batteries in. What would have cost roughly 50 pounds through hotel services was 16 through Speedywah. Easy peasy. Fill your hotel laundry bag, mark it for Speedywash, put in 16 pounds, leave at reception by 9. It's returned same day by 5, nicely folded and clean. Worth a call to Speedywash to be sure they pick up at your hotel.

It's a great exchange shop - you can sell off any of your unwanted electrical items, I find that you don't tend to get very much for things like DVDs but at least you get something back in your pocket if your mum starts threatening to take your collection to the charity shop! I've never bought anything more substantial, like a phone or game console, although they do sell them readily, I can't help agreeing with Craig in that much of it could well be taken-from-somebody's-hand rather than actually second-hand but nevertheless this Bristol branch offers a wide range of most things electrical. I particularly like coming here off a morning and spending a good hour rumbling through the stacks - it's always fun to go for an odd ball, something you've never heard of, sometimes it's brilliant and sometimes it's one to trade back to CeX!

It feels shiny and new and you sometimes forget that all the stock was unwanted by someone. I mean I saw an iPad in there today...an iPad!!! Who got bored of it so fast they felt the need to sell it! And why weren't they allowed a refund from Apple, the thing only came out about a week ago!? They have a huge range of electronics in this shop; it's great just to have a browse. They have technical components and computer equipment for the tech guys who might want an upgrade, but they also have a great selection of cameras and laptops. They have a huge amount of computer games and DVDs and you can sell them yours once you've finished with them. I am not sure how good they are with the prices they will give you for them, but at least they are here to give us the option. Some of the stock prices seem a little high, but I am sure some haggling would be allowed.

Staff are really helpful, the stock isn't nearly as good as the old store and a third of teh store is premium beauty (because rich people shop in Bath, probably). Not much space for Christmas stock here, but you can still get your toothbrush and deodorant, and the pharmacy counter always has good advice.

Now I used to it, its not so bad! Staff are very friendly, they provide helpful advise and stocks are usually good on most items I buy. More recently they've put more shelving in the makeup section which makes it much more tricky to just get into the store; maybe the ladies like it but as a bloke, I hate having to dodge my way through shoppers just to get to the lunch section (sorry I've become a grumpy old man :) )
