I recently visited OutFITters Thrift Store in Manchester (3942ndSt), conveniently located off I‑293…read morenear Elliot Hospital, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The store is spacious and impeccably organized, with neatly arranged racks and a private parking lot--no rummaging chaos here The selection is enormous, featuring a stunning variety of lightly worn women's dresses and footwear, as well as plenty of men's wear. Everything is priced incredibly well, and I stocked up on so many summer outfits without breaking the bank . It's heartwarming to know that 100% of the proceeds support Families in Transition, a local nonprofit working to end homelessness in New Hampshire The merchandise is rotated weekly, so each visit feels fresh and full of discovery. The staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming, boutique‑like atmosphere I came away with a lovely haul for summer, and I can't wait to go back next week to see what new treasures await.

It was a little more expensive than some thrift shops I've gone to but nothing crazy. They had a lot of books. The shoe section was pretty good. We purchased 2 Ralph Lauren shirts for $20. The clothes is in really good condition there. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

This particular location has some of the best selection when compared with similar businesses in…read morethe area. Although some may find the pricing to differ from their sister stores in Nashua and Portsmouth (technically Newington, but who's counting?), I've found that it accurately reflects the value of the individual item, and they've always been willing to review them if there's a disagreement. Moreover, the staff in this location seem truly engaged in the business's stated mission, which is a nice change from *cough*Goodwill*cough* and *cough*Salvation Army*cough* which seem to abuse their non-profit status to ill ends. If you're choosing to donate, this is the right place to do it without having to be concerned about your impact. Negatives? Well, due to it's very nature, the store itself may appear to some to have a disorganized, shabby appearance. Housekeeping in the facilities portion occasionally falls below their radar, but when mentioned is typically addressed promptly. Front end staff have been known to be distracted, and this can occasionally lead to less than exemplary service. But let's be honest here- all in all, it's a decent trade for the value. (Full disclosure: I was employed by this company, however my statements are based on my personal shopping experience, and as much as humanly possible I've tried to write this review objectively. Simply stated, what I've wrote is what I believe. )

Everything was in BRAND NEW condition! I can't wait to go back here Greyson did a great job helping me at checkout.

Plato's Closet - Very well worn dirty vans that were coming apart all along the sides for $12.

I've always loved this place. The prices are great, and you do find some really cute things…read more What I think people don't see is that this store is in a bad part of the city, there are a lot of rude people that come in, so sometimes it's hard to keep a smile on your face. Also, there is sometimes things like masks in the fitting rooms and other trash, but I know they can't always get to that immediately when people drop it in there. It's a busy place sometimes and they're only human, it doesn't help when people are consistently in and out of the fitting rooms by themselves. Another thing people don't understand is everybody has their own personal idea of "style" and "what's hot". Your idea of something really cute might be different from what teens/young adults are actually into, and you can't really blame the employees if they pass on it. They have their own personal style too. Don't expect to drive over an hour and make hundreds of dollars, you get around $6 for a pair of jeans, a dollar or less for jewelery (depending on the item), maybe a few dollars for a top... it's a used resell store. You can't expect to make a fortune. They turn down items if they have an odor or are covered in fur because all the clothing goes directly to the floor. All they ask is you wash everything beforehand and it makes the buying process so much easier and cleaner. There's a lot of misconceptions about this place, but it's overall a solid business and they're doing their best. It's a very opinionated store when it comes to buying because you can't just force people to like the same things as you, everybody's different. I'm only giving 4 stars because it is a bunch of teenagers hired there that do occasionally give attitude, but I feel like I can't really blame them with how they are treated on a daily basis by people who come in and yell at them just because they didn't take the extra step to wash their clothes ahead of time. Call ahead if you REALLY wanna know what they're taking, and don't be disappointed if your clothes aren't totally in style to the specific person sorting through your items. Like I said, they're only human and go through so much. Retail sucks, give them a smile and be kind.

Staff is less than personable / friendly. Brought in maybe…read more5 items for them to look at , took two and a half hours and they offered me $3 for one item that was tagged $110 and brand new. Literally a Nike zip up they could've/ would have sold for $40-60 no doubt. The girl told me they didn't take SHEIN at any store; when half of their collection as well as the Portsmouth locations collection is all SHEIN items. The difference in prices is also INSANE. I got brand name boots in Portsmouth that retailed for $200 for $14. This Plato's is selling nasty gross dirty shoes for $60 with Amazon branding. I genuinely wouldn't waste your time or money coming to this location at all. They really pick and choose here and the staff is just not worth dealing with. I've met 15 year olds in customer service with more tact.
