This was well worth the money. It's two floors with plenty of little activities for kids. My kiddo and his friend we're well entertained for a couple hours. Staff was very friendly! Also, they had plenty of seating for adults right next to the activities. I can stress enough how awesome it is to sit on a comfy couch while your child is a foot away having a blast. . They also do a few staff lead demonstrations throughout the day. The Lego display of Manchester was very impressive! There is free onsite parking in the lot or street parking for a fee. Very easy to get to.

    Legos!!

I'm not one of "those" parents who HAS to take their stroller everywhere cause they're too lazy to carry a simple diaper bag with a few diapers, change of clothes, etc. So I have zero issues with their set-up & have never found it annoying or difficult. It's in an old mill building that was built centuries ago & the museum is not located on the first floor & there are stairs so if you find that annoying, this is not the place for you. Seriously, if you're bringing your child to a CHILDREN'S museum, let them out of the stroller & explore & have fun! That's the whole point! $8 admission is a steal. Other reviewers complained about how much there is to do here, or the lack of things to do - the only time we've had a 2-hour visit was during school vacation week & that was because it was so busy that 2 hours felt like 4 hours. Our kids could easily spend a 1/2 day here. A half day for $8 per person is a great deal! There's something for every age - my toddler-aged young child finds plenty to do as does my almost-tween older child. It's the "perfect sized" children's museum for a 1/2 day adventure. They frequently change exhibits too so if you haven't been in 6 months there's bound to be several new exhibits.

Manchester's version of a children's museum; with an unexpected and wonderful twist, which I will get to. The children's/ science museum is thoughtful, if a little beaten up and fraying. I appreciate that the exhibits mostly try to tie in real science with the activity. I will compare this to some children's "museums" which are really elaborate playrooms. This place is in the mills and there is easy access with free parking. Because it's a little shabby it's usually not very crowded, even in rainy days. So you don't always feel like your squashed in an influenza culture. The twist, of course, is the Lego model. This blows my mind every time I see it. It's a to-scale model of the Amoskeog mill buildings circa 1920. The hundreds of brick buildings are perfect for Legos. There's trains, trolleys, water, boats. Did I mention it's huge? It has the distinction of being the largest something (can't remember what) of Legos in the world. Placards around it describe the history of the mills, which is pretty much a history of our country late 18th to early 19th centuries, with immigrants, labor strife, unions, the fall of rivers as power sources and the Great Depression. Super interesting and amazing to see.

Great interactive displays and guided demonstrations.

Great place for younger kids to play. Not a lot of learning exhibits though for the older kids.

Both great search engines to research cats at all life stages with different personalities who are waiting for their forever home. There were a couple of kittens that caught our eye but they get snatched up quick by other adopters! Who can blame them, they're too adorable to pass up. Only a couple of them responded back after I sent in an application, but Lisa (adoption coordinator from PFL) responded in just a couple of hours after I set my eyes on my Emi (her original name is Lizza on their website and Adopt-A-Pet). Lisa was and still is SUPER responsive, informative, patient and adaptive to what we needed. You can tell, she genuinely wants you to feel secured with your choice and only wants the best for the cats. She even got me in contact with the foster who was raising Emi in Eqypt after she and her siblings were rescued from a horrible pet shop (they were all stuck in a small cage, in dire need of veterinary care). From the beginning, she said all the cats that are available to adopt are from Eqypt and will be flying from Eqypt once a month when you are ready to go forward with adoption. Unfortunately, we weren't able to meet Emi in-person, but being able to communicate with the foster who is taking care of her completely convinced me to adopt Emi. Mona, the foster was VERY responsive as well. Very caring and loving. She showed me so many pictures and videos of Emi, describing her personality and stories that makes her who she is. Mona sent me pictures of the food she was eating, her litter, toys, etc. and also updated me on her health and wellness checkups. If I had any questions about Emi, she was 100% honest and informative. She even updated me every moment up until she dropped Emi off at the airport with the cat transportation broker who was in charge of getting them through the 11 hr flight across the ocean to the US. (Carrier picture was at Cairo International Airport before her flight). Lisa coordinated picking up Emi from the airport and giving us updates on when and where to meet to pick up Emi. Everything went smoothly. I couldn't rave this part enough!!! All her vet and medical records were given to us with the carrier that Emi was in for the airport. This whole process took about a week from sending in an application! The adoption fee is very reasonable as well. It's been a couple of days now and Emi has acclimated very well in her forever home and our family she is an absolute treasure and I couldn't have asked for better baby. She is loving, playful, gentle and loves to cuddle. She is eating well, using the litter box regularly and is very comfortable with the both of us. Please consider Paws for Love if you are looking for a cat! Eqypt does not have any regulating laws to rescue stray cats from horrendous conditions and there is unfortunately plenty of them that still need their forever home.

SERVICE REQUESTED :…read more Free tapwater filled into 2 5gal jugs. *from outside spicket!!!! (due to being homeless in the summer with animals..) QUALITY OF SERVICE GIVEN : I won't say it was service cause it was anything but. This man was not only rude without reason, he enjoyed being mean and you could tell.. We are very quiet nice people my fiancé and I, we don't do anything but work and try to fix our situation because we don't enjoy being in it ..We are in an area where we have no access to water unless we go somewhere. so instead of going into a restaurant or business we chose a place that is supposed to aim at helping those in need. After being given permission by a person who claimed to be the "manager" of the NH food bank at the Manchester, NH East Industrial Park Drive location one night, after he had seen us going to fill up at night from an outside spicket in the parking lot *while the place was closed. We thought about it first and figured we actually felt like this would be the best place to do this cause they might actually be nice people like they claim to be in wanting to help people. However, after filling our water jugs a couple times per week for maybe a month (after hours so as to not bother anyone) which is when we got permission, we were approached by a man who said HE was the manager - alongside the man who had already claimed to be manager originally and were very rudely told "This is your last fillup you hear me? Go to the fire station!" In a very unwelcoming tone that actually startled us. when we stated we had permission, he quickly and abruptly snapped "no you don't!" Now, mind you - we've never been rude or stepped out of place with the food bank or any employees there, we had just politely requested water from an outside spicket cause it was summer and we were homeless at the time with animals.. I thought this place was supposed to care about those in need?? That was part of their mission was to serve the community. I didn't realize that only meant those who had money to donate & were not struggling. If this is what the donations pay for is for people to be extremely rude, judgemental, very unwelcoming, and to tell those in need that they weren't allowed to get free help from a place by means of FREE TAPWATER - Then the people donations dollars are definitely being wellspent, otherwise I know exactly where our money we are currently waiting to receive is NOT going. We will make sure it goes to places that actually help like they say they are doing and not the ones lying about it. Don't people like that realize It's hard enough to be struggling like this with nowhere to call home at night or to not be in a warm bed and feel safe?? Apparantly they don't care either. So to have a place that is supposed to help those in need turn you away for something of no cost to them even being that much of a necessity, and so rudely, I feel even more hopeless now more than ever... So thank you, and my animals that needed that water badly this afternoon say thanks as well The person running this place is mean and should not be in charge of a place like this at all.. I work two jobs my fiancé practically works around the clock and we drive a vehicle that frankly I thought would at least show people we try very hard to fix our situation and we have money just no home but this kind of thing shows me that the problem isn't hiding among the people struggling at all, it's in plain sight in the horrible ones who are running things! As long as that man runs that place it won't help anyone who needs it, I'd love to see where that money people donate under false pretense every year REALLY goes.!!

I requested help from Big Brothers and Sisters when my daughter was in grade school and later on…read morefelt like an idiot. There were several places I went trying to get help for my daughter and some of them treated me like a con-artist trying to use them and informed me that "this is not babysitting"and did not grasp the real issue about my concerns for my daughter. I was NOT trying to make them into a babysitter. Big Brothers Big Sisters was one of these entities making this accusation on me and this is an abuse of their power. A Big Brother Big Sister supervisor came to our house to interview me and my daughter to find out what we were looking for in a big sister. I complained about how babysitters and other older people had not been very nice to her. I said I wanted someone dependable who does not cancel out at the last minute and who would be able to stay in touch with her for a long time. I even sent the matched volunteer a video tape of my daughter so she could see before she made a "yes" or "no" decision, what she was like. The supervisor that matched them up said the volunteer was dependable and that she understood my daughter's needs. My daughter was ecstatic when she met her new big sister. Each time her big sister came to get her, she was still ecstatic. Then the big sister started pulling no shows and one time even left a message on my answering machine with an excuse that "I wanted to call first so I wouldn't have to drive all the way over there and find out you were not there." I think I had already explained that I despise this particular ploy, which is really quite common. She knew very well that we were most likely waiting for her at our house and just could not make it to the phone. She knew also that she only lived ten minutes down the road from us. The no-shows had my daughter in tears. This was someone she loved and trusted who abandoned her with no regrets and no remorse. One day, I called her house after she said she would see my daughter on the weekend. I learned from her brother that she had been home from her college and went back. I was told by her however, that she was not even coming home that weekend and I thought this was sly, cunning behavior. When I told her supervisor, she adamantly sided with me. Then this supervisor quit Big Brothers Big Sisters and was replaced with new supervisor. When this case ended, my daughter's big sister did not even stop by to tell my daughter goodbye and did not even apologize for her continuous no-shows. The least she could have done was send her a card. We instead talked to this new supervisor. She had a smooth act and glossed things over very well in front of my daughter. Later on, I talked on the phone to this new supervisor and she defended the big sister/volunteer to me and insulted me by saying she was going to "give her a good reference." She said this with no concern for my feelings and no regard for the fact that my daughter had been hurt by her. I had to sit there and explain to this cunning supervisor that pulling no-call-no-shows and cancelling out at the last minute is emotional abuse. I tried to explain to her that the volunteer hurt my daughter's feelings. Then she started giving me a lot of manipulative responses that she thought were going to get me confused. Maybe she was used to manipulating a lot of gullible people. Her comment to me included that "The volunteers are not surrogate parents..." as if I was some sort of an idiot! I was NOT looking for a surrogate parent. After many failed attempts to reason with her, I just hung up. I was hoping for my daughter to have a trustworthy roll model and not a sly, cunning, older female. My daughter grew up having a lot of problems and the abandonment she experienced from her big sister was just another step in a bad direction. I thought they were running a sly operation and I really feel sorry for kids who get abandoned by people they were supposed to be able to trust.
