We lost our boxer mix from Alabama after 12 years. She was an amazing dog. When she passed we knew we had to get another. We have an 11 year old Great Pyrenees that needed some activity and youth added to his life. We looked on petfinder and saw a few we were interested in that were at motley mutts. On till that point we didn't know they existed so we filled out the application with everything they needed to make sure we are a good home. We contacted all the people (including our vet) and let them know to expect a call. They did call and we got approval within a day. We set up a meeting with the foster, motley, and us. Instantly we loved 2 of the dogs we were there to see. We took them home that day! It was a foster to adopt because they needed updated health certificates. The following week we brought them to motley for the day for them to go to the vet. They took care of a small healthy issue and sent them back to my house with medicine. The one that had the health issue didn't get the certification so we took her back again after the antibiotics were done. In the meantime we found another dog at motley we fell in love with! Everything went very smooth and we are one big happy family. I have to say how lucky we are to have them in our area. These people work so hard for a nonprofit (most nonprofits can't afford to pay well). They do it because they love the animals. Sometimes people have bad days. We adopters are a lot. They need us but they do it for the dogs, not the people. If someone is not as receptive as you may like it is not personal. It takes all kinds of people to make all of this happen for the dogs. We adopted Bowie (formerly Navy) a 6-year old purebred Golden Retriever, from Motley Mutts in July 2023. He had been surrendered due to the death of his owner, who had raised him from a puppy. Motley Mutts knew that he was a special dog in unfortunate/unfamiliar circumstances, and took all the necessary steps to ensure his next family could help him transition successfully to a new life. The adoption process was thorough and well executed. It was very obvious that they care about their placements and do a great job of vetting potential adopters to ensure safe, loving, forever homes for their pups. His foster mom was so happy to see him find a new loving home, even though it meant she was letting him go. As with any responsible rescue organization, Motley Mutts makes sure all the pups are healthy, neutered, socialized, and up to date on all shots and medical care. The pups are even microchipped at time of adoption so if they ever get lost, they can be identified. I had a great experience with Motley Mutts and definitely recommend them to others. read more

My dog, Jane, became a part of my forever family on my birthday in 2020. She has helped me get through so many difficult times over the years and I'm thankful that Motley Mutts rescued her and placed her with me as her caretaker. I love her and she brings me joy and comfort in this crazy world. My experience working with Motley Mutts has been nothing but positive and I believe they are in it for the love and well being of the dogs in their care. I have been fostering for Motley Mutts for several years now and I have never met more caring people than the Motley Mutts crew. Anytime I need anything as far as the foster pups go, all I have to do is ask and it is sent to me. anytime I ask hey, can I foster this pup, or this litter, or this dog and he/she come to your rescue; they always say yes. One of the best things about Motley is they go above and beyond to get the pups that come to them the best home possible . They make sure the pups and the human are good matches for each other. I love that they have an adopter's page on Social Media so that the foster can see the baby grow and know all about what is going on with the baby that was saved. We met our amazing dog at a meet-and-greet event hosted by Motley Mutts Rescue at Woofmeow, and it was love at first sight! The team at Motley Mutts went above and beyond to make the adoption process seamless for us. We had a vacation planned shortly after meeting him, but they worked with us while we were out of state to ensure everything was set up so we could adopt him as soon as we returned. This is by far the best rescue I have ever dealt with. They truly care about their dogs, and it shows. Not to mention, they want to make sure you get the right dog for your family. Melissa, founder of the rescue, knew I lost two dogs in one year. I told her I was thinking about not a puppy, not a senior dog, but somewhat of a young dog. and although she was absolutely going to accommodate me, she had one of her fosters bring over another dog a little bit older because she knew this dog that was meant for me. We had a great experience with Motley Mutts Rescue in September of 2021 when we adopted our beloved Ashley Elizabeth. The rescue was super responsive and communication was timely. When I reached out expressing interest, they got back to me almost immediately, did their due dilligence in checking with our vet and 2 personal references and then made arrangements for us to pick up our girl within a matter of days. We adopted our youngest just shy of a year ago and Ivy has been a Godsent and the staff was so great to us with the fostering to adopt. At first we were so concern about the two getting along but the staff was great with checking in daily and really making sure that both pups were warming up to each other and not having any aggression towards each other. I met with one of the owners Melissa when I did my meet and greet with my first dog Teddy and Ivy to make sure they would get along. When we were looking for a second dog, we had to make sure our first dog would also approve. We saw this dog (about 5yrs old) when we met her my husband son and I fell in love! But then came the big test, our other dog. We were able to bring her to the interview, she got to meet Jess, and she to approve of her. It's been 2 years now, and we are one big happy family. I loved how they were willing to make sure our dog would like her too. We attended an open house to meet some dogs I saw on thee website. It was wonderful to I tract with all the dogs. My daughter fell in love with a puppy, so we started the application process. By the time we were approved, that puppy was adopted, but the staff informed me of other puppies in the litter and the next day, we brought one of those puppies home. They equipped us with a collar and some food to allow for a smooth transition. The facility was clean, the staff was friendly, and the entire experience was amazing. ​​ read more

I couldn't be happier with the experience I've had with Motely Mutts! I worked with them to adopt a senior dog who had been looked over for adoption for to long. Despite the urgency to get this guy in his forever home, they fully vetted me to be sure my home was right for him and that he was right for us. We have adopted 3 dogs from Motley Mutts. Once you fill out the application the process is very easy. One of my favorite things is they take in dogs of all ages, not just puppies. Both the employees (they are only a few or the rescue wouldn't survive) and the volunteers (there are many and that says something) are wonderful! It's like a Motley family. We adopted our dog Josie from Motley Mutts. They let me come meet her, filled me in on her background as much as they knew. She was picked up stray in Mississippi with her sister at about 10 months. She was transported North to her Motley foster. She fit in immediately with our other dogs and she learned our routine quickly.
