This property was not my original Reading reservation. Without berating another property just a few blocks away, suffice it to say when I called from the other place that I was dissatisfied with and was going to leave after being in my room there for a matter of minutes after a day that started at 4am in another country, the Forbury came through. At the last minute on a night when there was an event in the facility, Hannah found me a wonderful room, and was the most pleasant and helpful professional I've experienced in a long while. They were booked solid, and she took things to a level of service that one could easily consider legendary. The hotel itself is already well known, we'll documented, and is of course wonderfully well appointed. The rooms in the variations I have experienced this trip are warmly decorated and fitted with class and comfort, but the heated wood floors were especially perfect during the cold front that just blew through and left a bit of snow... But the service... THAT is what brings me back and leads me to evangelize businesses, and employees like Hannah are what truly make good businesses great. The Forbury is great.

Had dinner one night out in the outside bar area. Took forever to get service. My colleague had to go inside to order our beers and ask for service. Someone from inside came out promptly to serve us. The crown burger and fries was really good with crispy fat fries. Generous chicken Caesar salad too. Much improved food quality from last time I stayed here.

It's some ancient series of buildings that have grown and evolved over the centuries. The main building is a work of art, and feels historic. The mid-range rooms are perfectly comfortable and perfectly serviceable. You're going to them to sleep, odds are, not to camp out for fun. Room service is great. The dining is the best thing about the place--the eggs benedict are up there with the very best I've ever had. Staying there a week plus a weekend, I ended up having them way too often for breakfast. I'd give them four stars but for the fact that when I was there (March 2011) there were some sporadic and rather annoying issues with their wi-fi service. When it was on, it was fantastic. When it wasn't... well, it was pretty bad. Prices are reasonable for the area for business travelers, and the location is in the literal middle of Chertsey. On the way to our room, the smell was awful and we did not have the room door open but 15 seconds before we turned, walked out and moved to the Residence inn in Slough (which was an much better experience in comparison) and we took the Uber to Windsor. Don't waste your money, this is not the experience you want in Windsor especially if this is your first time to visit the UK.

Staff left out water for us throughout the weekend which was nice and cold and kept everyone hydrated. Bathrooms were always clean and never shy of any toilet paper which was nice as the event was fairly large and people were in and out of the bathroom all day. I did use the elevator to get something from my friend's room as she was staying at the hotel. The elevator won't work without a keycard. That's important as it's a safety precaution. The hotel is also centrally located and near the bus stop. Not a bad choice !

So far so good But...there was a great rip in one of the leather benches in the bar...should not be left like that...and annoyingly you go and sit down, settle in with jacket, phone, ipad etc...look at the menu, then they tell you, you have to go to the bar to order and pay...meaning if you decide on something else later, you have to do that all over again..ie leave or carry all your stuff with you to and from the bar...since the place was totally crowded I chose the latter option...hmm The room could have done with a luggage rack... The best thing in a way, for those of you who remember Get Smart or saw the file remake...as you walk along the corridor, all the lights come on one at a time...just like the doors closing in Get Smart Would stay there again though...

I checked in and slept for a bit, coming in from Los Angeles I had a touch of jet lag. I went down to the bar for dinner and the staff was impeccable, they were all so friendly and attentive. I had a burger and a couple cocktails. Breakfast same impeccable service and so many options, my fave was the avo toast. Everyday I would walk around the property l, visit the stables, and enjoy the brisk air. I utilized the spa facilities, the pool and gym. I had room service as well and tea in the living room. Everything and everyone was first class. I never left for 3 days and by the end my mind was clear and I felt so rejuvenated. This property bring a special kind of peace. Def will be back.

Perfect for families to getaway for the weekend and ride horses, enjoy nature, etc. This hotel was about an hour-long cab ride from Heathrow and definitely felt like I was in the middle of nowhere. I've had some really good chicken liver pate, crab and lobster sandwich and desserts here. The best dessert is probably the Eton Mess, they change up the toppings every once in awhile, right now its passionfruit which is very special.
