A charming place for high tea. Nice selection of drinks, but we stayed with the fine selection of teas. Delicious finger sandwiches & desserts in a lovely atmosphere.

    Rhubarb, ginger and lemon dessert.

I am a very lucky girl! My lovely friends took me to the Brasserie for a birthday treat last Friday night. I wasn't expecting much - after all, it's a hotel in the middle of Farnborough... but it was built for wealthy people who come to enjoy the air show and so was done to the highest standard. The style is kind of 50s meets space age meets neon and white. That may not sound inviting, but it is visually stunning. A huge white, circular staircase lit up with coloured lights dominates the lobby, and looking up towards the top is both breathtaking and slightly vertigo inducing! We were early on purpose and went upstairs to the Sky Bar to get a cocktail first. The list isn't extensive, but you get the feeling that you could ask for a green-eyed cobra bomb, and they would calmly go and make it for you. (I made that name up, but I'm sure something delicious would still appear!) I had the Silver Jet - even the name sounded 50s glamorous! It was lovely, and they tweaked it for me without a murmur (easy on the vanilla). We almost lost track of time, the bar was that much fun, but we eventually tore ourselves away to go back downstairs to the Brasserie. Well, that was a meal to remember! We started off with some gorgeous red wine - a 2009 Bordeaux 80% Merlot blend - Saint - Emilion 2009, Chateau Dupray, Bordeaux France. (Did that sound convincing?! Luckily one of my friends really does know what he's talking about with wine, and we let him pick a stunning bottle). For the starter I went for the goats cheese with pickled vegetables and marmite dressing, and both my friends opted for the venison cottage pie. It's really hard to decide which was better - the goats cheese was fascinating, the flavours worked really well together and I cannot pass up marmite if offered to me! The venison cottage pie was warming, really delicious and a very generous portion. Both were worth of the 'yummy' noises we all made while eating them! For mains, I ordered the chicken, mainly because it came with broad beans, and I love them. The other mains we had were the rib eye steak and the sea bass. Everything was exquisite - my chicken was just about the moistest (is that a word?) and flavourful chicken I have ever eaten. It was just done, juicy and oozing flavour. Feeling extremely naughty (and waiting a good half an hour!) we moved on to dessert. I cannot remember what my friends had - I was too engrossed in my my poached rhubarb! It was a work of art (see photo). The rhubarb was perfect, there was a melt in the mouth rhubarb sorbet, and what seemed to be a deconstructed cheesecake. There were little bits of obviously home made honeycomb scattered on the plate that were such a good accompaniment. We rolled out of the restaurant, happy, full and pretty sozzled. I am DEFINITELY going back there again!

The Aviator hotel is a total gem nestled in the countryside of Farnborough. Upon first glance, the hotel would seem to be cold and small, and once you enter, the spacious and glamorous entryway lends itself to the small but luxurious experience this hotel offers. The staff is attentive, welcoming, and well trained to suit travelers and rooms are large, well laid out, and they offer premium free wi-fi which is great for the business traveler. Considering there isn't ANYTHING to do in the area, the bar in the hotel lends itself to a quick late night getaway, and I would highly recommend to someone visiting the area, or does not want to stay in the London area.

Free parking places direct at the hotel and 30 min free wi-fi are the highlights of this hotel. The room was clean and like all other Premier Inn decorated. Quiet enough, so we had a good night in this hotel. The reception woman was friendly and so we enjoy our stay there. We stayed for one night in the Premier Inn Aldershot for a friend's birthday party at a wine bar in the area. The staff were super friendly and cheerful, the room was large, bright, clean and comfortable. The bed is one of the comfiest I've stayed in (and huge) and I wish I could have taken the duvet and soft pillows home with me. There's even the choice of firm or soft pillows depending on what you prefer! I enjoyed a soak in the bath (as I don't have one at home at the moment) and the shower was powerful and kept a good temperature. It's a basic, no frills hotel so remember your toiletries. A hairdryer would have been nice in the room but I think you could get one from reception. We paid £35 for the night for two of us so I can't complain! We added breakfast onto our stay, which ended up being in the ajoining Brewer's Fayre. It was just under £9 each but it was unlimited breakfast with plenty of choice of full English cooked breakfast and continental with cereals, muffins, yoghurts, fruit, eggs however you want them, vegetarian sausages and more. We really made the most of the unlimited breakfast and enjoyed it all. The sausage were good quality, eggs were poached perfectly to order and the hash browns were the right level of crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle! I'd definitely recommend staying here!

It meant reception was at the rear, but check-in worked straightforwardly, and staff were friendly. The refurbishment meant that there was no lift to our floor, but this was not a problem for us. Our room was one of the refurbished ones; the style is plain and rather spartan (no art on the walls), but it was comfortable enough, and had everything that we wanted. The bed was comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. I particularly liked the fact that the makeover provides lots of USB charging ports, in addition to the normal electrical sockets (we counted seven charging ports in total). There is a small area of hanging space (a bit small to call a wardrobe) but it was adequate for a short stay. We also liked the fact the room was extremely well sound-proofed. The road nearby is very busy, but we did not hear a thing. We stayed there during the heat wave, and the adjustable air-conditioning was very efficient and quiet enough to keep it running overnight. That meant we slept well. We had dinner there that evening. The main dining room is being rebuilt, so they have used a conference room as a temporary dining room. This means it is a little bit gloomy, but comfortable enough. Service was swift, and we had a main course and dessert. The food is perfectly okay, but I wouldn't go there for a special occasion. Breakfast was a buffet, and rather better in terms of quality and choice. Although not the widest range I've experienced in a hotel, there was plenty to choose from in both hot and cold buffets. Note that the food is not cooked to order, but we did ask for some more fresh fried eggs, and these came quite quickly. The hotel has parking at the front, around the side and back. The front car park was closed while we were there because of the refurbishment, there was still plenty of space for us. But we know from experience that when it is busy, the car park can fill up. If I had any criticism, then it was that the signage to from our bedroom and reception was lacking. I suspect this is because of the refurbishment, but it did mean that we had long walks along the corridors to get to our room. But overall it did not spoil last stay. We got an extremely competitive room rate, so that bed & breakfast for two people was £130. We would happily stay there again.

Today, I have called the front desk 5 times for assistance, but nobody bothers to answer the phone. Meanwhile, the MX engineer is in my room and swapping out refrigerator that is inop. The Engineer said she would go by the front desk and find out what is going on. Finally the blonde woman at the front desk answers the phone and it's March 9th at 14:30 (time and date so Mgmt can determine the staff). I asked the woman if she was busy, and she replies "no". I told her I have been calling and it just rings & rings. She stated: "I can't hear the phone ring when she is sitting in the back room". She said: "I guess I should turn up the ringer". Well, perhaps if you all man the front desk then you wouldn't irate your guest like you have me when I'm forced to come downstairs to tell you what I need when all I should be doing is calling your front desk for assistance!
