Reasonably priced hotel in Reading. Neat modern design and lounge but missing the niceties of the better hotels I've stayed at in my day. No doorman or bell hop when I arrived, front desk was missing when I arrived and I waited for about 5 minutes for someone to show up and check me in. Room was 97£ on my company account (not sure what regular rates are like).
I was a bit worried as I approached my room. The hallway smacked of "lower end" and "slightly run down" but the room was surprisingly nice and well sized. I had a huge king sized bed with crisp linens, flat screen TV with nice connectivity for my laptop and other devices, modern furnishings with clean design. WIFI is available (not sure of the cost as I am using IPASS). Higher end bath products in the bathroom - nice rain head shower but it had very little pressure. My room was quiet and comfortable.
Breakfast was substantial with pastries, eggs (fried and scrambled), sausages, bacon, meats, cheeses, fruits, yogurts, sauteed mushrooms, and coffees & juices. I'm sure I ate enough to hold myself until dinner.
When I checked out, the front desk seemed a bit lost as to whether to bill my company directly or me (in the end, they wound up mistakenly billing me - ugh). A bit frustrating that they didn't work to try to sort it out for me, considering we give them quite a lot of business.
Decent value for the money and I would definitely stay here again, but the front desk team needs to tighten up their act. read more
