I went here for my anniversary and the meal here rounded the experience off and really added to our enjoyment. I can 100% recommend the Kobe beef burger, although pricey, is very succulent and tastes amazing. It was also the place we went to for breakfast, which was included in our stay, a buffet style breakfast that had everything on offer and it all tasted great and we even got a free newspaper to read whilst we ate. A great place to eat whether you stay at the hotel or not.

There is something very wrong with the air conditioning system at this hotel. The first room I…read morewalked into, I was hit by blazing heat and immediately called the front desk and had to change rooms because the meter was not working (room 411). The room should not even be in service for gas. Secondly, I was moved to room 509 which did not have the stifling heat factor, but the air conditioning still was not satisfactory. As a result, they had to bring me a fan. Needless to say, my sleep was interrupted throughout the nights due to the Warren of the room. The manager was very kind and provided me with one complementary cocktail at the bar for the inconvenience. In addition, when housekeeping came to clean my room, they were removed the wash face cloths and did not replace them. I called down to the front desk to see if someone could bring me a couple up, and the employee told me that I could either come downstairs and get them or that housekeeping would be open again in the morning. I told him that I was undressed and could not come down. He then brought up two hand towels, and when I told him that I needed face cloths, he told me that was all they had. Needless to say, I had to take a shower with a massive hand towel. The next day, upon returning to my room, housekeeping had not left face cloths again. I had to go downstairs and get them. I don't know what the issue is at this hotel with that. Nonetheless, there is a mini refrigerator in the rooms, my new room was 509, but they do not keep items cool at all. Therefore, if you go and get ice from the bar area. (says there are no icemakers on any floors in this hotel), there is no way to keep it frozen. Also, their elevators are extremely small and narrow, and don't work all the time. If you have more than three people or two people with luggage, that is all that will fit in them, and they are very slow and only work some of the times. Furthermore, I requested a late check out and was told that noon was the latest they could do without charging me an additional fee. I would've thought that given everything that went wrong with my stay, they would've accommodated my 1pm check-out request, but they did not. On a positive note, the hotel is in a great location and there is tons to do in the area. My colleague parked car. They are so be aware that there is no in and out privileges. Once you park, your car must remain parked, or you will be charged again. This doesn't make very much sense to me. I believe there are other parking structures in the area that are cheaper and more flexible so you might want to check. Needless to say, when I return to my office in the area, I will definitely plan to stay elsewhere. I need to sleep comfortably, have a cool room, and expect great customer service.

The hotel staff was extremely nice as soon as I walked in, it was around midnight, they made me a tuna sandwich and kept the bar open longer so I can get some wine which was much needed at this point. The room was nice and the breakfast offered a variety of food that would satisfy most. The property is in a "village" like area lots of green and English gardens. Thank you Hilton Cobham staff for making me fell like I was home after a crazy travel day!

Mistake oh yes there was a wedding on the following day so we go to dinner to be told you cant eat in the restaurant because the wedding party takes priority,(not told this when booked the meal and breakfast). Speaking to the manager he just was not interested in the issue and said sorry the bar or nothing. The food when we got it was nice the hotel was dated but pleasent. BUT - The staff and management with the exception of 1 barman (Nik) was horrendous. Sadly, Oatlands is a property that leaves a tremendous amount to be desired. By US standards, it should be classified as a 2 star property. While there is a grand lobby, which is heavily advertised on its site, everything else is in a very sad condition. Rooms are quite dirty, with spider webs on the interior side of windows, dead bugs on the windowsills and tons of stains on the bedding. The condition of furniture in the rooms and carpets in hallways is in a very poor condition. Paint is peeling in most places and dust has not been wiped off for a long time. The main restaurant had an incredibly fishy smell the entire time. The people working the front desk are pleasant to interact with, so that's the biggest upside of this property. With that said, they did double charge for the room by accident and it took several back and forth emails to adjusted, with them assuring initially that all was correct. Outdoor areas of the property are also in a subpar condition, with things like random hoses laying around, excavations in different parts and poorly maintained landscaping. Despite the substantial real estate footprint, there aren't any walkways or paths to walk around the property or gardens of any kind. As a whole, while the property is historic, it is not possible to recommend it due to its sad condition.
