Hiltons are a funny bunch - they range from the massively plush to the 'I can't believe they actually expect me to pay for this' sort of affairs.
The Hilton Cobham falls somewhere in the middle of the two above, maybe veering a little towards 'I can't believe' but only a smidge.
The bar feels a little dated but there is no questioning the quality of the stock - the sauv blanc I ordered (the house white) was a very respectable New Zealand white, in fact one of the best I have had recently, a nice surprise. We also sampled the bar food - again, pretty good, it was all deep fried for the most part but tasty and fresh and filled the gap nicely.
I found the staff a little jarring, they weren't great on communication - silly things like when they ran out of potato wedges it didn't occur to the waiter to offer chips instead, there were lots of examples of this sort of thing.
The beds were very comfy which was a shocker as they looked small and awful - I got stuck in a single bed, something I have not had to do in years!!!
Breakfast was fine for me - since I was there on business and therefore out of sight of Wifey I indulged in the full fry and coffee, I enjoyed it. However my colleagues all managed to find something (genuinely) wrong with their repast - I think I was just lucky.
All in all - it was fine, I'll probably be back! read more
